I'll just drop this here, for no other reason than because I find it amusing.

Also hot. Amusing and hot.

Arg! The sandpaper comment... no.. ick!

She's referring to the floor.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, we ALL know she's not referring to the floor. Not at all...

coz in the real universe, it is unlikely that every of your teammates/friends is falling in love with you...

Yet they don't fall in love with you unless you flirt with them first...

The reason "homophobe" is thrown around is that homosexuality brings out the loudest complaints from fans about a sci-fi video game being unrealistic.

I have a problem with the way sex with Tali was handled. She basically comes off as a woman who has no self esteem and wants to be used since she falls for Shepard even if he treats her like garbage. And the whole magic Mordin sex gel that makes it "safer" for her and Shepard to get some action stretches credulity to the breaking point.

I have seen some fans bring up these complaints, but most are trolls who just want to upset the Talimancers and are called out as such. A great many threads they start are shut down. The others who complain on the basis of realism and logic do not say the game is ruined and that they'll never buy a Bioware game again. The seem to accept the "unrealism" is the result of video game limitations and the reality of catering to a fan base that think sex with aliens is hot.

Put such over-reactions to s/s romance in ME3 (even from the "moderates" who say they're okay with s/s ONLY with new characters) against the backdrop of current advances in LGBT acceptance versus a passionate backlash from "traditional" groups. If you see the 24 hour coverage on FOX and MSNBC and then read these threads, it's not surprising if "homophobia" is the first word to jump into your mind.

A game that is predominately about saving the universe with machine guns and explosives is NEVER going to be able to devote enough resources for "realistic" romances. That's why I don't object to the "all-bi" option, and why I don't understand fans being upset about the gay options in ME3 because they *gasp* are a fan service.

^ pretty much what i was going to say.

Well... it looks like we don't have to worry about the M/M LI in the looks department! Posted Image It has to be between those two.

...Okay, unless Vega is voiced by Mark Salling (Puck from Glee), I don't think I'm going to be able to take him seriously with that hair. That is NOT a soldier haircut. That is some high school punk who thinks it makes him look 'tuff'. Kaidan, though... Mmf.

Well, my favourite character is Jack, so I don't think I get to judge any character for his or her hair.

Unf, I think Vega is sexy... He looks like a heavy-hitter. I hope he is!

And, I don't know, maybe he's actually going for the "tuff" look? I wouldn't mind that! Younger soldier with a chip on his shoulder, trying to look "tougher" than he really is? Trying to look cool in front of (the incredibly gay) Commander John Shepard? I could dig that. Could totally dig that.

I get it if other people want someone more "mature"... Or, specifically, Kaidan... I completely empathize with the want for Kaidan.... But I'm not going to turn my nose up at Vega. No way, no how!

For some reason, I find it impossible to take giant bulky soldier types seriously anymore.

As I said elsewhere though, Kaidan's looking mighty fine these days, yessir.

Oh, I'm not necessarily turning him down either (I tend to want to at least try out each romance option at least once before deciding on my 'regular' path). I just think that a soldier with that particular hair doesn't look... right. But if his character's done right, I could get past it.

Please don't let Vega be the only human m/m Li. If he is he'd better have more personality than the whole of the new me2 Li's combined, otherwise he's just not my type.

Can't really say I like Vega's haircut, but as I said, I don't think he'll be the s/s option.

Kaidan is, as ever, looking awesome. (totally unbiased, I swear).

Edit: Is it just me, or do those faces look much better than ones in ME/ME2? Higher resolution?

Yeah, Kaidan always looks good but If Ashley and the other females get one I want the option to have him and adept MShep in catsuits too.

@ElitePinecone what makes you so sure Vega won't be the only m/m option because it's exactly what I fear he is?

Don't fear, just wait for confirmations. After them you won't have to fear either :wizard:

I think Vega's mouth looks good - definately kissable. I would sent him to the barber first, though and put him in a different outfit. In the end it's down to character, but I can see this going somewhere for my GaySheps. Already better than any of the ME2 male LI's, imo.

Just a feeling, and a half-formed notion that Vega is meant to be the character to appeal to a certain demographic of shooter fans who (like the character himself) don't particularly know much about the complex politics and inter-species relationships of the Mass Effect universe.

They've described him as a tough but naive character, a military soldier and (I'm assuming) something of a badass warmonger to appeal to those who like over-masculine meatheads a la Gears of War.

I'm not saying it'd be great to subvert convention and make the military boofhead (Australian slang, sorry for confusion) bisexual, but it doesn't seem the sort of thing I'd expect Bioware to do with this character. His physical appearance would seem to reinforce this imagery.

Mac Walters has referred to the writing process for Vega as interesting, given that he's new to the IP, so I could be completely wrong. It's just a feeling.

I don't mind Vega as a squad mate but, if he is naive and the stereotypical, chest-pounding He-man, I'll stray from the Paragon path just to shove him off a cliff. Kaidan's okay but, Garrus would be the one I'd be most interested in :P Something about that voice.. lol

I so hope you're right and the "interesting" part of Vega is something like Ashleys unexpected love of poetry, but I still fear you're not.

I don't really mind Vega's look, ok the hair isn't that great but I wouldn't say he's unattractive!

I don't really have a "type" and I'm far more attracted to someones personality (cheesy but true!) so I'm far more interested in how the charcter will be written and if he does turn out to be the s/s option, that's what I'll be judging him on!

I really don't like Vega's looks and if ElitePinecone's assumptions about his demographic are correct I'm not likely to like his personality very much either. If I wanted to romance someone with an unattractive personality I'd rather go for the Turian councillor. Even if he does have a likeable personality I'd much rather be friends than lovers with him.
