Bioware always gives you a chance to say "no" to any sexual advance except for Liara's forced mind-rape but blue lesbians swimming in your brain is JUST PLAIN HOT, AMIRITE FELLAS?

*ahem*

I mean, you can even trip at the "finish line" if you want and turn down sex from any character you've previously flirted with, when they come to you the night before Ilos or the Suicide Mission.

Hey, not even Dragon Age: Origins forces you to have sex, even though a major plot-point centers around heterosexual coitus, which my gay male Warden DID NOT APPRECIATE, BY THE WAY. But then I realized that the game had specifically provided another male party member who I could force to take that bullet for me. Yay!

So yeah, no worries on the "forced unwanted relationships" front. That's not Bioware's bag. Unless Liara is involved.

Ah, more demands for romances to be 'realistic' and complaining about DA2's 'they're all bi oh oh noes' system? But it's not even Thursday yet.

You know, too many **** about Anders "ninjamance" and worries about it will be the template for male gays in ME3. IF the writers take Garrus down a similar route in ME3, I'll be complaining along side them. But...

In DA:A, it was never established that he ONLY likes girls, but that Anders had obviously been successful at hitting on women and manipulating women into doing his dirty work. Perhaps the men he's met so far have all been straight, too smart to fall for his schtick, or he may approach men differently.

Or maybe JUSTICE is bisexual, or the merging of personalities removed any objections. Or maybe his status as an abomination makes him DESPERATE for find any warm harbor to take shelter in.

All of the players MOANING CONSTANTLY about romances needing to be more realistic (and, somehow, not gay) need to think about THEIR OWN ACTIONS leading up to the infamous "ninjamance." IT CAN ONLY BE TRIGGERED BY PICKING ALL THE "NICE" OPTIONS.

Think about that for a minute. You're Hawke, and either you or your sibling is an apostate. You're hiding from the Templars. Scared of the Templars. Everything you're doing it to raise enough money to avoid the Templars.

You need maps, and Anders has them. So you reach a deal to help him help his buddy to escape and become an apostate. IN THE CHANTRY. Okay...

Needless to say it all turns to ****. His buddy had a lobotomy, and Anders suddenly reveals that HE IS AN ABOMINATION! HOLY ****!

Not only that, but suddenly you're encountering the infamous DA2 wave assaults, this time made up of... wait for it... TEMPLARS! HOLY ****! NO! Now Hawke is FIGHTING TEMPLARS! KILLING TEMPLARS! IN THE CHANTRY NO LESS! CRAP!

Two dozen awesome button explosions later you talk to Anders at the clinic, where, if you choose all "nice" options, you can trigger the infamous "ninjamance." Oh, my God! My immersion is ruined! *sob*

Bethany has spoken that daddy Hawke purposely did NOT teach his children how to communicate with demons so they wouldn't become abominations (not sure how that is supposed to work, but I'll go with it for now). And it is obvious that while Hawke him/herself may not be an Andraste worshiper, s/he was raised to be one. Abominations are bad. Really, really bad.

So, all these critics of gay ninjamances, who SCREAM about the need for REALISM in their role playing games, take no responsibility of their own actions and choosing all "nice" options.

ANDERS: I'm an abomination. Sorry I didn't tell you sooner. Oh, and I really feel bad that there's a good chance you could be put to death for killing Templars in the Chantry.

HYPOCRITICAL AUTHORITY ON ROLE-PLAYING REALISM AS HAWKE: Hey, no problem, buddy! I'm sure killing a dozen Templars is no big deal! Chantry carpets are famous for being stain resistant! And, golly, you have just got to be the nicest abomination I've ever met!

So, a lonely, isolated, desperate, apostate abomination has a moment and actually considered that he had found someone, anyone, who could provide some emotional stability and perhaps even some snuggle-bunnies. And, in a moment of disappointed, he becomes upset when he finds out he's wrong.

Honestly, people, there were quite a few stupid scenes that made no sense in DA2, but that wasn't one of them. I would dare say it was DAMN realistic.

Now stop ****ing over 5 rivalry points.

EDIT: I am going to reveal a secret about my favorite Puerto Rican. He sometimes grumbles aloud what he is furiously typing.

Whinning about ninjamances is one thing, whinning about going down a few blips on the "Naughty or Nice" list is kinda going overboard.

I've been meaning to ask my GF whether she prefers Garrus or Fenris. I would put myself in that survey, but I'm afraid I wouldn't like the answer.

wasn't it 15 points rather then 5?  I actualy haven't managed to be completely nice to anders in that conversation so I dodged that 2 <3 1 </3 option, so I'm not entirely sure.  its still annnoying though if you want to max out his friendship while still roleplaying a super nice Hawke  (what?)

actualy, Anders annoys me for variety of reasons, so I didn't have him with me when recruiting Fenris.  damn it, opportunity for easy rivalry points lost :/  (I'm also scratching my head at accusations of fenris ninjamancing.. I must be picking all the wrong conversation option)

about realism of romances - all I ask is that the characters who show NO interest in Shepard unless shepard shows interest in them first, continute to show no interest in shepard, unless shepard shows interest in them first.  simple.

I am not a fan of Anders either, but his so-called ninjamance was completely in character for DA2. And yes, I like Fenris, because, like me, Hawke can not find happiness with someone who does not drive him or her nuts.

15 whatever. I stll got more.

Not to mention anders is the easiest character to max in either direction. 15 points is NOTHING when it's Anders. AND HE HAS 3 WAYS TO AVOID THAT SEQUENCE. One of which gives you ZERO rivalry points.

So yeah QQ MOAR. (not you jeweled the crybabies)

How do you mean? Garrus/Jacob style "show no interest in any Shep," or Ash/Kaidan "show no (explicit*) interest in s/s Shep but completely ninjamance o/s Shep"?

*srsly Horizon is pretty slashy before the bad writing kicks in. "I never realized what I felt for you until you were gone" really would work pretty easily for either of them.

Nah, Aveline is easier than Anders.
not that the overall point here is anything other than 100% accurate of course, there are in fact no companions for whom one instance of 15-pt rivalry is even remotely a big deal <_<

Actually, Anders was Bi prior to his joining with Justice. He'll make direct reference to it if you ask him about Karl. He calls Karl "His first" I believe, and that they met in the circle in Ferelden, prior to the events of awakening, but Karl was transfered from the Ferelden circle to the Kirkwall circle for a reason that is never really explained... But other than that I agree with you. Just because he never actively hits on the male warden or someone in DA:O:A doesn't make him instantly straight. He could, zomg, just not be interested in the warden. Posted Image

On topic: Can't wait for my shep to get some m/m action FINALLY.

This. Anders was poorly written for many reasons, but making the first move was not one of them.

Nah Aveline is a pain in the ass to rival. If I take her around and try to rival her I end up getting half friendship, half rivalry and she ends up in the middle. It's enraging.

Aveline - +15 friendship

Me: Yay!

15 minutes later:

Aveline - +15 rivalry.

ME: FUUUUUUUUUU

That said. Seb is worse.

Garrus/Jacob style, please... Horizon's terrible writing nonwithstanding.  I never realized what I felt for you untill you were gone doesn't relaly wash with me concidering 2 year of believing someone was dead and then they come back and ****** you off by working with terrorists.  hate=love is a pretty terrible plot device.  as is "I've been in love with you all along" ala Tali (shudder).
see, if ME actualy recorded your interactions with the characters, then it might have a bit more pausibility in case of at least some Shepards.  but it didn't.  the fact that Tali loves you even if you treated her like crap is jarring.  the fact that Garrus trusts you even if you haven't recruited him in ME1  - is annoying.  I almost want to see what happens if you don't recruit Wrex in ME1.  does he still show up on Tuchanka and calls you his friend?  and don't even start me on Liara.

ME doesn't have a good system of cataloging your interactions with companions. and unlike DA2 where Hawke has no prior interactions with the cast, Anders included, in ME - you have the same player character interacting with the more or less same cast of npc's across all 3 games.  so I'd rather they didn't force any more "canon friends/crushes" on players.

P.S.  I love Aveline.  I have a girl crush on Aveline.  so far she's been pretty easy to friend.  I'm actualy having a lot more trouble with Isabela :(
