When drinking with Dr. Chakwas, Shepard discovers that she and Joker are quite close, but I don't remember ever seeing the two of them together. That would be one relationship I'd love to see develop since it could be very intimate and touching while having nothing to do with romance. I wouldn't mind DA2 style cut scenes of the two of them interacting.

Kelly and Grunt romance would be fun to walk in on, too. No need to have detailed graphics, mind you, just have Shepard and Liara/Ashley trying to find a nice place to *ahem* catch up and then focus on their horrified expressions while a disturbing shadow is cast on the wall next to them. I actually dreamed of this scene, and I'd really like confirmation that it was merely my budding powers of prophecy and NOT some deep seeded mental illness.

I want to see more of the Chakwas/Joker relationship too, and I agree it should not have even a whiff of romantic overtones. These are two people who care about each other deeply, but don't make a big fuss about it, and it has nothing to do with sexytimes. Just my opinion, o' course. :D

Yes, thank you "love" icons. And rivalry romances, though I'd still like the concept to be improved upon.

Agreed! I can see how people don't like the icons (it can break immersion?), but I like that concept to avoid ninjamacing. And also how you can romance someone without either always agreeing with or throwing tons of gifts. Rivalry system as a whole could be better implemented though.

Yeah. Ninjamancing needs to die in a fire. I DON'T WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU BECAUSE I TALKED ABOUT YOUR FAMILY!

Sorry. I'm just a wee bit peeved about that. >_>

I think there's a universal crusade against ninjamancing. BioWare, please don't trip the romance flag unless the player character specifically does so in a very clear way. And please, give us an "opt out" option if we find someone better later in the game. :D

Yep, that was how I hooked up with my girlfriend, "So, how's your aunt? Mind if I take off my clothes?"

I've actually been rather rude to all the female romance characters because of Liara's ninja-mance in the first game.

I think I 'almost' tripped it with Jack... but at the end of ME 2 I didn't have the romance achievement so I was happy.

Well, I hope Chakwas/Joker relationship is portrayed as friends only... if my Shepard can't date Joker, then I wanna make sure no one else can.

Honestly, I've accidentally "sent signals" to people in real life that I've had to clarify/cancel later, so ninjamancing does happen IRL. Most guys think that if a pretty girl is friendly to him, she's into him, when that's not necessarily true. Some gals are just nice, like me. :D I've even accidentally started ninjamances with women too. I don't even think of myself as especially flirtatious either. *shrugs*

Ninjamancing is still NOT OKAY in games though, at least not without an 'off switch'. :P

@ Siansonea II -- Ninjamances happen to guys, too, even guys like me, though I've never had one when I wasn't already dating someone else. If I ever break up, I have a sneaky suspicion all ninjamancers will suddenly disappear. Funny how that works.

Yes that's something everyone can get behind regardless of their position on s/s romaces. At least I hope so.

No to past LIs becoming gay or bi

fine with brandnew squadmates being bi or gay like Vegas or others.

Yes to bromances of all crewmembers.

Absolutely no to Tali or Garrus becoming s/s options. If I find out they are I'm done with 3 I'll be more upset with this then finding out I'm forced to take a Prothean squadmate.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned the "heart" icons in DA2 could be immersion breakers. But there's a difference: in real life, I can choose exactly the words, tone, etc when I talk to someone else, while in ME games there's only the paraphrasings.

Have you played a FemShep to see how Tali reacts to her? No? That's too bad, because she's the most logical choice form what we seen in ME1/2. Garrus, not so much.

Honestly, I think alien existing characters are the least likely candidates for s/s LI options. I don't think anything from BioWare has even hinted that Garrus, Tali or Thane would be considered for s/s romance. Naturally there's a lot of people who want them as s/s LIs, so whichever way BioWare goes they're going to make some people unhappy.

I would love a gameplay option to turn off icons or guide text, to "work without a net" as it were. If I did that, I'd have to play as my neutral characters (my Engineer and Sentinel) in my first ME3 playthroughs, because I will eventually learn all the options in the process of playing my six characters.

i heard people saying they wanted james vegas as a s/s romance. perssonaly im apposed to vega being a romance option period. hes such a new character that shepard just met. it'd make more sense if it was one of the established male characters. to me anyways.

I think you are painting with too broad a brush here.   At least for FemShep for me there was very clearly some chemistry brewing with Tali in ME2.  There are even some expressions of admiration that could be easily channeled into a romance in ME3.

Also there is the whole question of Samara who has a hard to get near romance for Paragon which could be developed in ME3.

Oh, I wasn't talking from an in-game perspective, I was talking from an out-of-game perspective. I agree that Tali's last interactions with FemShep felt rather open to interpretation...;)

I think Samara is probably the unlikeliest of all, to be honest. For one thing, we already have an asari romance option, and we already know that we're *probably* getting new characters. So a fully-developed Samara romance would be in addition to that.

Have to say, after the whole "I got better, Shepard. I got you" line, I was mightily surprised when Tali didn't turn out to be a romanceable character for femsheps. It's hard to take that line platonically.

I am 8 hours late, but excellent thread, and excellent first post Siansonea II. As can be seen from my sig, I am really hoping for a bisexual Kaidan. I am sure it's unintentional but there are times when the tension between male Shepard and Kaidan is palpable.

Yeah that line...that line's a bit...eh..

I just wish Shepard could've initated the romance with Tali. His view on her is forever stained by her telling him she has a crush. Now he's all awkward and not wanting to give her any suggestions that he'd be into that kind of thing..it's a mess.

Thanks! And thanks for joining us. :) We've got a lot of folks around here who are hoping for a get-together for ManShep and Kaidan, there was even an entire thread dedicated to it, but that discussion is now being held here. We've also got a some supporters who really only want new characters, of course, and all viewpoints are welcome. I am of the mind that "if it's done well, I'll like it" without being too specific about what "it" is—old characters, new characters, whatever. My only caveats are "human" and "hawt". :wizard:

I agree that it would seem odd for Garrus to suddenly show interest in a human male since he didn't seem thrilled with the fact that female Shepard was human, but he respected Shepard and made himself open to HER advances. Of course, gay Garrus fans could argue that the same logic should apply to male Shepard.

As for Tali, Jack and Samara, I found it odd how everything seemed to be moving toward an opening for lesbian romance and it seemed artificially cut off. I have a sneaky suspicion that they were options originally, but were later dropped because Bioware/EA didn't want to be accused to more pro-lesbian/anti-gay-male hypocrisy.

Yes, I have brought this up before, and some Bioware people have denied this, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't still suspicious.

you dont brag about banging a random chick to a guy you're interested in romantically. that makes absolutely no sense
