If your intention has truly changed, then I would suggest editing that post as so you don't incur posts such as mine. Anyhow, back to the regularly scheduled program....

I'm still not sure how that's me arguing against same sex romance.
Or why I need to edit a post when I already explained the error in the post you're replying to...

I'm really confused as to why I'm suddenly being treated like a homophobe and berrated repeatedly even after admiting I made a mistake in my phrasing.

DA2’s handling of s/s romance was really bad. Every single character was bisexual, which is totally lazy and unrealistic (it should have been one or two, not every single one). Worst of all, every character would hit on you, and then get annoyed when you would say ‘thanks, but no thanks’.

For the love of everything that is good and pure, please stop using this overgeneralization. Not ALL characters are bi. 4 out of 9 are stated to be. That's 4 out of 5 romances. Still not all, so please, please, stop it.

This is not just aimed at the above poster, just so you know.

Also, stop calling it 'lazy and unrealistic' as the same could apply to the romances in ME1/ME2 and DA:O.

I'm not sure what's going on either, as I've only seen you support s/s romance in the past and nothing about that post has anything to do with s/s romances, only the discussion of them.

Yeah, that too. I just got into a tranquil rage right after reading the bolded line and skipped everything else. Posted Image

That's okay, I forgot to address the 'everyone hits on you' part :P

I'm still sober.

I apologize then, if I misunderstood your post, but the "rude" comment seems like it means what I thought. Perhaps I should have read farther back before replying. So, if I am worng, please accept my apologies.  *runs away with tail betweeen legs*

You know what's fun when the "lazy and unrealistic" argument comes up?

Ask them about the racial makeup of the Normandy's human crew.
If real world population statistics must be adhered to 100%  or immersion is ruined... where are all the asians...

I don't understand why the bisexuality thing even matters. Like, folks say DA2 was silly because of that, but in DA2, in terms of what your CHARACTER knew, only Anders and Izzy admitted things about their sexuality (Anders having had a male lover and Izzy saying that thing to Bethany about how men only have one thing, but women can do 5 or something). The other characters, as far as your Hawke were concerned, were only heterosexual or homosexual based on your Hawke's gender and romance choice. Really, all we have is a mechanic that allows the characters to romance any gendered protagonist, not a mechanic that makes them bisexual. I mean Anders doesn't make a pass any other guy if you play FemHawke. So it's really just people annoyed with what I see as a pointless exclusivity.

Then folks say "Not everyone in the world is bi" but not everyone in the DA2 world is bi (as I just discussed, it's merely a gameplay mechanic for an unessential part of the narrative where the characters are really more like protagonist-sexual than bi for the most part), and I assume that in ME3 characters that were gender exclusive that can be with a same-gendered Shep will probably say something like "I always felt something for you blah blah". Maybe they could even talk about social pressure exerted by the military/family/whatever making them afraid to follow up on their feelings, whatever.

Besides that, the incredible absurdity of their being a lesbian relationship with Liara (who is a woman in my mind because she IDENTIFIES as female regardless of all the biology) but no comparable male homosexual relationship is finally being dealt with. Plus it was already planned in ME1, it just ended up aborted for whatever reason.

Sorry, I haven't read through the thread and I don't know what conversations are being held. I'm just tired of reading stupid crap and felt like asserting my logic somewhere.

One of the things I have to keep reminding myself is that while we hear the same arguments over and over and over against s/s relationships with previous squad members, the person currently making that argument may be on his/her first visit here. It is a massive thread at this point, and will probably grow much bigger as the game approaches, so it is pretty unrealistic to expect a newcomer to read the whole thing.

But the other thing that does bother me, as several of you have pointed out, is that Bioware moderators are responsible for a lot of the critics' frustrations because, as I have read their posts myself, the moderators are telling them that THIS thread is the place to discuss their opposition to s/s relationships even while we have been warned that this thread is not allowed to argue about a matter that has already been decided.

Pictures are all right, but we've been warned not to continually repost them. I was also on the last official s/s thread that the moderators locked down because too many people were posting pictures that could be deemed offensive.  It's kind of funny how it was the after GUYS were depicted as kissing and having sex the thread was shut down.

As for the pictures you're showing, they're very good, though I'd prefer female Shepard look more athletic and not like an Ambercrombe and Fitch fashion model. Could someone feed those starving girls a sandwich?

I totally LOL'd and agreed with the Shepard needs a few sammichez part. Anyways, I dunno why, but I'm fine if I myself have sex with another girl (I'm bi), but if a guy does it to another guy, I'm not grossed out, I'm just a little weirded out. Strange how I'm fine with myself being bi but if a guy's bi, it turns me off.

P.S. There's two of you, and one is a ranting troller? Never knew that.

For the record, this is what concerns me also.

Moderators shut down other discussion threads about S/S, even if they only tangentally related to that topic (because they eventually get pulled into a de facto argument between supporters and opponents in any case).

The mods then point people towards this thread, which has (in its first post) a policy of taking it for given and granted that S/S will be in ME3, and that its inclusion is not up for discussion.

Where are the people who have a problem with it meant to post?

Or those who don't want to add to a monster thread of 150+ pages, or think they have a new perspective or article to discuss?

Obviously I do have a problem with people irrationally arguing against s/s or being offensive - but at the same time anything (non-offensive) deserves a place on these forums.

The crazy Korean chick is back in Asia with family at the moment, though I suppose she could log on from there. I really want her to get her own account, but WE own the Xbox 360 and Bioware games, and as far as we can tell, we can't assign game ownership to two accounts.

As for trolling, no, she doesn't. But she's easily baited and will quickly reveal that she originally learned English from an NWA album. Fortunately I've been able to edit some of her posts before anyone could "quote" them back in response.

The best that can be done is report the trolls and try to deal with nay-sayers in a polite way, though that's not always possible since, as you mentioned, they aren't going to read the entire thread. I don't think they'll shut this thread though. It's better to keep it all in one thread than deal with it in an entire forum.

You know, I consider myself a pretty hip to innuendo, but I must confess that I a bit out of the loop if that was a euphemism.

EDIT: Nevermind, my monitor's going bad. I found your link.

RE-EDIT: Um, THAT wasn't a euphemism.

Actually, if your games are Xbox, you should be able to register a second account with the same codes. The site doesn't keep track of which UPC codes have already been used for the Xbox/PS3 registrations, so just making a new account from scratch via your PC and giving it the correct UPCs off your game boxes should work. This is apparently totally okay under current forum policy, as confirmed by at least one mod.

Anyway, the Miranda in those pics strikes me as somewhat OOC in her happy playfulness, but I must say I appreciate any art that gives Shepard her dog tags. And also that gets her a little lady lovin' but I suspect that part goes without saying. ^_^

The thing with these characters is that this is all 'in character' for them.

Isabela is just very open with her sexuality...she's a very sexual person.  This is very much independent of sexual orientation though.  I've known straight women that have reminded me of her (very open about sexual stuff).  I myself am a lesbian and tend to be more guarded with sex stuff.   If you knew me IRL, it would take a very long time for you to realize that I'm a woman-loving woman.

Anders is just very needy emotionally based on the issues he's had in the Circle with all the crap he had to deal with.

The others (Merrill/Fenris) are more 'unconcerned' with their sexuality/romantic interest as I am.  Their top priority in life isn't finding a romantic/sexual parnter or sex for sex's sake.   With Merrill, she's more concerned with restoring lost elven heritage.  Her romantic/sexual life is a distant concern.  With Fenris, he's more concerned with dealing with his past life as a Tevinter slave and surviving attempts on his personhood and freedom challenged by Danarius and the Magister's attempts to reclaim his lost property.

Interesting article.

Gaider wrote...

"No matter who the player is, Karl was always someone [Anders] was romantically involved with," says Gaider. "The part of him the player is exposed to, however, is different. Anders doesn't mention Karl to a female Hawke because Jennifer Hepler [Anders' writer] didn't think he would -- and also because a player who prefers to think of Anders as  straight is welcome to do so.

Gaider wrote...

"You have to be careful where you apply your resources," Gaider says. "Spending a great deal of effort to make something only a small number will see isn't always going to be possible.

"But if we approach the subject of romance, and providing extra options isn't too expensive, is there a good reason why they shouldn't be there?"
