Actually, "Chun Hei" isn't here yet. That was me, setting up her account for when she gets back or if she gets my email and logs in from where she's at now. I am SO dead when she reads it. Yet I do it anyway. Go figure.

Um, it still isn't showing our games on her profile, and is there any way to get her Dragon Age character icons from our shared XBox account?

If there's a romance with Krogans, I hope they will do without sex scene. Headbump in this case would be more than necessary xD

Agreed for not showing a sex scene. ...But I wanna sit in their laps and french'em, just to squick my squaddies out :P

(I'm completely in favour of that fanfic where "mock-doing" the clan leader allows you to lead a Krogan army.)

"Hey Wrex, guess how I REALLY wanted to persuade you on Virmire?"
"Shepard."
"Wrex."

*biotic headbump*
*crash + fade*

Strangely enough, that would not ruin my immersion.

I submitted a Wrex "ninjamance" proposal on page 153. It's one of those subjects that once you get started, you can't stop thinking about it.

I am so ashamed. Really, I am.

lol well you can keep dreaming, with the rampant homophobia out there that doesn't seem to be going anywhere, no developer/publisher's going to be lining up for that gig.

The DA character could be a bi hero, you also have lead in jade empire, and fable, and now we can add shep to that list.

Low blow. Looow blow. :pinched:

This. And more.

As much as I'd love to play a gay guy that wasn't a walking stereotype and as much as I know that won't be happening for awhile, the least developers could do is stop with the token characters. For all it's bugs, FO,NV played GLBT chars fluidly by not making orientation the defining characteristic of the PC. It was just some *optional* perk that gave you extra dialogue with some NPCs.

All in all, I think Extra Credits explains my views better than I can.

Hmm, well, ONE of my Shepards is gay, the other two are straight. To each his/her own, and that's why we should be celebrating.

While James Vega being gay would make for a great subversion of stereotype I still really hope he isn't an s/s option or at least not the only one for the simple fact that I don't find him physically attractive at all and since the developers have also created him to be the framer of an encyclopedia of obvious questions aimed at new players I'm not holding out all that much hope for him having the sort of unique and fascinating personality that would encourage me to look beyond mere physical appearances.

It's not worth much since it's pretty much a given he's going to be a marine dressed like a tank with the build of a linebacker, whether they're going to make him slightly older or younger or tweak his face a little bit more really doesn't matter all that much to me, when he's already more or less confirmed to be designed to make the Governator look puny.  Having him as the only m/m Li in a series that brought us the likes of Kaidan Jacob, Thane and Joker ( Wrex and Garrus deserve an Honorable mention here) would seriously feel a bit underwhelming to me especially since all the straight romances do get plenty of eyecandy.

I'm missing a ton of information on him then. Can you direct me to where that was more or less confirmed?

Because the few pictures I've seen he's big but he's not that big. But I could be missing stuff. The character forum is.... chaotic is the only nice way to describe it...

Ha. One of my Sheps is straight, the other three are queer (two gay, one bi). Amusingly, of the three femSheps, the most butch of them is the straight one. I swear I didn't do that intentionally...

So, let's assume for a moment that Joker or the VS* or one of the ME2 LIs is revealed to be bi in addition to the new bi characters. Disregarding the apparently volatile issue of which NPC in particular is chosen, how would you guys want the reveal to be done? Restricted to s/s Shepards, like Anders, or made apparent regardless of Shep's gender that playthrough, like Isabela? Should it come up in conversation, or be revealed by, idk, meeting some ex of Garrus' or overhearing one of Ashley's sisters teasing her about some hot chick they think she should date, or whatever? Or should Shepard have to make a move for it to even come up? Should it make a difference if the returning character was first introduced in ME2 or ME1 (since that would impact how long and possibly why the character has been 'closted' to Shep, and potentially whether they know about femShep/Liara)?

Personally I'm strongly inclined to say that we should find out the character is queer, absolutely regardless of Shep's gender or dialog choices, and then be able to respond to the effect of "I get it. Don't worry, you can trust me" (paragon points) or "I don't care who you sleep with, just whether you can do your job" (renegade points),** or "me too". And then after the "me too," then you get the option to flirt. Because some people will have queer Sheps who just aren't interested in that particular NPC just like people have straight Sheps who aren't interested in any given o/s NPC. And some people will have queer Sheps of the opposite gender who just want an opportunity to commiserate briefly with someone who gets it. And a lot of gamers could stand to be reminded that being queer doesn't mean you feel compelled to jump every s/s person you see.

But that seems... unlikely, I have to admit, so I'd settle for anything that wasn't "I'd never considered this before, but now that you've brought it up, you're special, Shep," all Garrus-style. My Sheps are not interested in being anyone's bicurious experiment, and "no no they're just Shepsexual" would feel too much to me like "lol Liara's monogendered it's not really gay" all over again.

* Though I'm not totally sure of the VS as an option, since that would lock out anyone who started the series in ME2, unless they buy a stupidly overpriced, poorly written DLC thing, and that kind of content lockout hasn't historically been BioWare's style. Also, as an Ash fan, I worry that I might be guilty of wishful thinking.

** I know some folks would probably want an "actually no, I'm not okay with that, get out of my sight you dirty ***, I wish I'd left your corpse to get nuked on the Collector Base" but, for some reason, I'm not inclined to offer one.

Don't forget Fallout New Vegas either. I've made many a courier, not a straight one among them. I really love on how Fallout handles their GLBT characters.

@ Quething -- Maybe we could have a scene of Joker talking to Shepard, but done more from Joker's viewpoint. You know, while s/he is talking, Shepard keeps striking those Maxim poses like Miranda does in ME2 and the game camera parks right behind Shepard's ass for most of the scene, making sure to give generous glimpses of chest.

Close up of Joker's face, a little nervous, maybe even a bead of sweat shown coming down. Close up of a glowing, happy Shepard moving and talking in slow motion. Soft romantic music plays in the background....

Ahem. Um, sorry. Uh, what were we talking about again?

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

In all seriousness, that does sound like a smooth way in establishing romances. It shouldn't have to just be limited to Shepherd's perspective all the time(pun intended).

Although i'd be thankful for any human male s/s romance being available, I do hope that Kaidan at least is an option. If anyone at Bioware is thinking against it because of the naysayers, I hope they do reconsider!

From a continuity perspective, there are a lot of ways to make it make sense, and you can see that with his romanced femShep letter (specifically the alternate reality's: "I'd finally let my friends talk me into going out for drinks with a doctor on the Citadel. Nothing serious, but trying to let myself have a life again, you know?") that there is a good opportunity for some time of revelation when Shepard is torn away from his life. He has not been romanced obviously by mShep so things play out a bit differently.

I have an idea in my head, and was wondering what you guys and gals thought of it.

It stands to reason that Kaidan wasn't aware of his feelings for mShep until some time after he lost him.

After super-paragon-path following, we can find out about his friends mentioned in his fShep letter that would have told him to date a doctor if he had been romanced but he had been avoiding it. The friends including perhaps an (implied male) superior officer could be the starting-off point here. He can talk of them fondly (including a female friend), and say that he found he "had a lot of confused feelings still". They told him to date and get on with his life, but he couldn't bring himself to. He talks equally highly of the superior and the other friend. "We were all really close", "they helped me get through it all"

Shepard has the option of asking at this point "you speak pretty highly of Commander [last name], did anything develop between you?" (heart icon for mShep) or "you speak pretty highly of [girl's first name], did anything develop between you?" (maybe heartbreak icon or question mark icon)

If the heart option is chosen, he sighs, figures that mShep might be aware of where he's going, and maybe interested in "that way" and so reveals that he looked up to Shepard, and that although Commander X was a great guy and he felt something, he wasn't Shepard - he just reminded him of who Shepard was, it wasn't anything more than a fleeting admiration. "Then I understood part of why I felt so guilty for surviving when I lost you. I never knew... never got to tell you how I felt.". Romance enable! mShep: heart / heartbreak choice.

If the other option is chosen, Kaidan reads into things, saying inside "hey he's not gonna get this", blushing says, "no, she was sweet but nothing like that". Kaidan pauses, rubs his forehead, and looks at the ground, then, thinks the better of it all, "Anyway, after seeing you again on Horizon, life started to make sense again, I guess I knew somehow that you couldn't be gone, the galaxy needs you.", a pause, "You know, maybe I should go our for a drink with that doctor some time". mShep: "Yeah, you should get on with your life, Alenko." (unrequited love, so sad)

Some things i've seen argued against inclusion of s/s with Kaidan are:
1. Ninjamance potential
2. Unrealistic continuity
3. Just an unrealistic realisation/change (o noes, my immersion!) - can't imagine any plot that would make sense
4. Outright flirt lines being available, making people imagine that they've been said even if not chosen (eg. a line about purple elephants on tightropes might just make you think about purple elephants on tightropes)

I like what I think of as a 'gaydar sweep' conversation from Kaidan because it should hopefully avoid any of these concerns.

This way, I think the character's realisation of heart would not break continuity with the fShep romance, his careful wording I think coming from a predominantly straight-romance universe would make sense, and reading of Shepard's responses to test whether Shepard would at least be realistic in the sense is that's what people often do in real life.

From a continuity perspective, the same thing happens all the time if not romanced by a mShep in ME1 (because he was more aware of his feelings with fShep), it's just that he humanly doesn't disclose unless he thinks the reward (possibility of mShep returning the feeling when he took so long to realise it himself) outweighs the risk (spoiling their friendship/professional relationship). It doesn't matter where Kaidan or the typical human male sits on the Kinsey scale here, just that he has feelings for mShep, so the player is free to imagine any orientation that they want.

It avoids the obviously flirtatious lines being read in people's minds when they are deciding what dialog to choose, and if people are uncomfortable with seeing "hey DID he get with the commander" - they don't need to know for sure and can remain blissfully ignorant of what's tearing up poor Kaidan's heart, but also gives 'permission' (for those that care) for Kaidan to get over it.

What do you think??

I would lean toward the character being bi regardless. For pretty much the same reason. Especially if it's Joker.
Really all the "No he's my bro!" people could do well to learn that they can actually have gay/bi bros. it's not the effing end of the world and it doesn't change who they are just what you know about them.
Heck, my closest male friends are all straight. I get along better with them than I do with most of the gay men I know.
