I like the rerendering, He doesn't look so fugly. The original is on the left the retweaking on the right.

Uh. I actualy liked the original better than the retweaking.

Well opinions and preferences.

By god I hope they fix him. He looks DERP.

Creepy giant baby vibe. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon and he'll be all buff mohawked rugged hotness...
and then made s/s romancable. Without that bit I don't care what he looks like.

I love Vega. I love that he's built like a brick house, looks like he fought in a few wars, and his broad face. I don't like on how almost every romancable(assumption there) character Bioware makes has to be a model from Ambercrombie or something. I like my men handsomely rugged, not pretty or charming with features chiseled by angels.

My concern with Vega is he'll be the only m/m option. Someone mentioned it before that it's cheap to throw a new character who has no past emotional connections with players to serve as the token gay/bi male. I'm sure his character will be done very well and will be a great relationship option. I just don't want him to be the only one.

Quite frankly I think Kaidan should be, if romanceable by MShep be very distinctly Bisexual, with a clear higher inclination towards women. Honestly, due to the cut content, due to what remained in-game his interest in women in the released Mass Effect is clearly established, now while that obviously doesn't bar him from being Bisexual I still think it puts a lot of weight on an even attraction percentile when it comes to genders. Throw in some conservatism from the space marines, awkward presumptions and misinterpretations of Shepard's sexuality and you have a situation where Kaidan probably if he held any fleeting interest would not pursue anything unless Shepard gave him the green light.

Now I know some people will read this as a typical sexual angst story we all love to hate (because who doesn't hate a fictional retelling of a common story of the world we live in?) but it just seems more plausible to me, and let's face it, Kaidan is a man with a lot of discipline and self-control (and not just in the keeping himself in check, I mean it seems he actively holds himself back, I mean did with his Biotics for a while because of events in his past) so I wouldn't be surprised if a Bisexual angst story was right up his alley (pun definitely intended) especially if it brought about Kaidan losing some of that control due to the situation at hand (Reapers) and just the stress of pursuing a side of his life he's never really engaged before.

From my recent playthrough of ME1, when I was pining for Kaidan, I got the impression that Kaidan is not very direct about what relationship he and Rana had. He never says he loved her. He does say he was close to her. And even if he had a relationship with her, he was a kid then.

I dated a girl in high school, for 6 months. We broke up, and got back together, and dated for another 6 months.
But I was still figuring out who I was. I am gay. Not Bi. And definitely not bi, with a stronger inclination towards women.

I'm not trying to stay everything you said has to be wrong. Just that it will be kind of sad if Bioware holds themselves back in developing Kaidan because they feel bound by a pretty vague mention of a girl from Kaidan's past.

I was actually thinking more along the lines that Kaidan can establish a relationship with FemShep and not MShep as a way of basing the higher inclination ratio concept which then acts as a in-character reasoning for explaining the cut content is suddenly pertanent in ME3.

I get what you're saying about the childhood girl thing, I mean I had a "girlfriend" when I was younger so does that make me Bi? Not at all, most definitely gay as gay can be (Cbf bringing in the ambisexuality debate here) a few friends even 'write' songs about my exceptional propensity for man-loving. ><

He's making a list,
he's checking it twice
Gonna find some men to **** tonight
<Insert name here> is  coming to town.

.... I'm not a good role model for young gay people.... D:

Heh. I wish more gay men were bisexual. Why can I not find more hot guys with good hygiene and can dance?

Straight men were too busy listening to metallica while the gay guys were listening to madonna.

This is exactly my concern as well, however since he also seems to be the designated newbie tourguide I'm not all that sure about his personality as well since its relatively easy to have the dumb marine grunt ask the silly newbie questions. I hope the writers find a way to avoid that but mass effect 2 in general leaves me with mixed feelings when it comes to the writng department, some parts were really well written and thought out while others were just...meh (the Horizon bit and the way FemShep behaves around Jacob are two of the most well known examples) .

Also I do like pretty boys, and since there are enough in the Mass Effect series already I hope we get to romance one of them with ManShep as well. Like I said before in a universe populated by humans like Joker, Kaidan and Jacob and no less than two Alien races (Asari and Drell) designed to be attractive having Vega as the only option available to my ManSheps would feel very underwhelming to me, and yes I don't think they're going to include more than one m/m option in me3 even if f/f is likely to get at least 2.5.

Two options would be nice, three options would be way too good to be true.  One is all we know we're getting so far...

Honestly, I believe that it is only going to be one M/M and one F/F LI. Then two bisexuals (Liara and probably the Virmire Survivor) and then the hetero ones. Just a guess, thrown to the wind.

Which is still a huge leap forward for the movement. Amidst all the potential critique and desires for more options there is definitely a profound sense of joy for me, everytime I realize ME3 WILL have a same-sex romance for both genders.

I don't tink you're too far off. Sadly I feel Vega will get the M/M option over my first choices.

True, although I still hope the our one m/m option will in fact be Kaidan even though I fear it'll be Vega, but merely having having the option is a giant leap forward for the franchise and even if the option offered is not what I'd prefer it does slightly raise my hopes of having more m/m romance options in eventual prequel or sequel games.

Nuts, are we supposed to be able to dance? I mean, I couldn't dance to save my life. I'm a terrible bi-sexual :(

On another note, if Liara is reconsidered as f/f after all these years of adamantly claiming 'she's monogendered and thus doesn't count' and ends up being the only f/f option there is, I'll be slightly cheesed off. Since, y'know, it won't have added anything that isn't already there.

The Virmire Survivor seems pretty likely, yes, loathed as I am to consider them as one person and that everything that holds true for one should apply to the other. It effectively adds two bi-sexuals into the mix whilst still only having one in game at any one time, is all. Hopefully that'll quiet down the "unrealistic zomg" crowd a little.

Oh, who am I kidding <_<

I thought they still said Liara doesn't count and there will be someone new for f/f that does?

I'm pretty sure someone tweeted that (can't remember who though).

Hmm. IF Garrus is a bi option, I may just have to dedicate one of my virgin male Shepards to him. Right now he is having fun with a female Korean Shepard. But that depends on whether there will be unique m/m lines for Garrus and that lovely voice, not just cut and paste m/f pronouns.

I know all my females are spoken for by Garrus, Kaidan and Jacob. The three virgins are waiting to see their options in ME3. I will check out Vega, but I hope for Joker. That boy needs a tumble so bad.

I still plan on saving the universe too. I have priorities though.

Jesse Houston tweeted and informally confirmed at one point that the s/s love interests will be human, yes.

Since the development team seems to like f/f a lot more than m/m I don't think you'll have to worry about that, I think female options are pretty much guaranteed to be at the very least Liara and the new female lead (Vigilante maybe?) and either a new Kelly or the return of Yeoman Chambers.

I dance to save life. My own. I hate being out with the girls and guys think its open season. Even when I say no. That is why I am glad I am so small. I can hide pretty easy.

I am sure you are a wonderful bisexual and dance better than drunk idiots with mullets.

Ack! No, he didn't confirm or deny any such thing. Sorry, I put that poorly.
I meant to say, he informally confirmed at one point that FemShep will be able to romance a human female.
Whether there will be more than one s/s option, if there will also be other alien characters available or any information as for MaleShep's options is still unaccounted for.

"I might do more than catch you, Kelly."

"Well, that's an enticing thought."

S/s female Shepard is not such a big deal. She has always been able to be a lesbian even without Liara.

EDIT: Oops. You need Liara to be a lesbian in ME1. Sorry. Monogendered is total BEE ESS.

Liara had better not count. Not after they put all that effort into trying to claim that she doesn't. LotSB was fantastic, but that still doesn't mean I've forgiven them for the ME1 Liara romance.

@Finis Valorum: It won't be only the VS; that much is guaranteed, since we've got at least one guaranteed new character for s/s (which is why everybody thinks it'll be Vega, since it'd be beyond foolhardy for BioWare to add more than two new squaddies in ME3. I think that in light of ME2 that's slightly optimistic reasoning, frankly, but I am a pessimist by nature, so...).

Which is a good thing. Because as much as I want a s/s VS romance, preventing players who started the series in ME2 from pursuing a s/s romance is total crap. And anybody who started the series with ME2 has an o/s VS.

(True: PS3 players have the comic, and Xbox and PC players can use Gibbed - or buy the comic, she said with sneering contempt for BioWare's sheer gall in charging money for that - but the vast majority of Xbox/PC players will never even be aware of that option.)

I did say I hope it's Kaidan but I do indeed fear it's Vega which doesn't really exite me all that much, especially since you can bet 10 to 1 that new female lead will most likely be drop dead gorgeous. I also believe that f/f will get at least either the return of Kelly or a new lipstick lesbian for some gratuitous lovin.
