I'd want to know what kind of range the Asari have with their mind-sex thing, myself. Face to face? A few paces apart? Or could two of them start mentally doing it from across the room during a boring meeting, say.

I like that image, personally.

I was under the impression it had to come from physical contact... it depended on the nervous systems being in tune, not some sort of magic or biotic mind meld. Just checked the wiki, and it says: "sending and receiving electrical impulses directly through the skin".

The mental part is separate, it seems to come about because the nervous systems are intertwined (and it seems to be the pleasure-y bit).

I will say now that Samara's LM is one of my favorites in the whole game (Hers and Thane's are my top pick because they don't involve shooting everything in sight and are a lovely change of pace), but Nef's "freak" line did get under my skin a bit. If it was supposed to be taken as "OMG I'm attracted to a woman..." and not "OMG I'm attracted to an alien..." then yeah, in some instances it does make sense if this is Nef's first encounter with a s/s situation (despite what BW says about the asari...). I can understand her internal struggle with her own attractions that seem foreign to her, but the wording really rubbed me the wrong way.

It seems like she was pretty inexperienced with attraction in general so what BW was trying to convey makes sense, but they definitely could've chosen some less unfortunate wording. Nef seemed pretty well-read, so if anything they may as well have just had her say "Am I a xenophile?" That would've shown confidence in the audience on BW's part, to assume we would know the word too :P

I wasn't really bothered by the freak line myself...
Nef's a teenaged art student. They think everything makes them a freak.

"Oh god, diary, I had a craving for a banana today NOBODY WILL EVER UNDERSTAND ME!"

Great, thanks. Now I'm afraid of Asari rapists.

Ca't you just see it?

Shepard's walking through a crowd on Illium, and then a stranger whispers, "Embrace Eternity!"

It happens so fast. Shepard falls to the ground feeling weak--and so, so dirty.

The culprit is gone. Or perhaps she is still there; a dozen impartial Asari stroll by without a second glance to the human at their feet.

"Commander!" cries one of Shepard's companions. "What happened?"

Shepard swallows thickly.

"Nothing. Let's just... let's just move on."

I've suddenly become a tad terrified of asari...

Dude, that's why Shepard's inability to say "no" to Liara or Shiala always skeeves me on a deep, personal level.

While I do like the Asari (yes it is possible!) us F/F fans only get serviced with loads of completely unfortunate implications and have to listen to other peoples b!tching about it all the damn time. So far warning to the m/m crowd, be careful what you wish for you might damn well get it.

Yeah, there's a lot of "things I never thought about until someone brought it up" going on...

I'm just gonna go on the record right now and say that I absolutely do not want an inverted male equivilent of the Asari. *shudders*

Okay, okay, okay, okay.... I should rephrase. I wouldn't say no to a monogendered race of males if that's how Bioware really wanted to handle the inclusion of same-sex content, but I'm definitely not wishing for it. And I'm definitely not wishing for the inability to say no when one wants to mind-rape Shepard.... ooof, can you IMAGINE the Straight Male Gamer rage? "It was hot when a female virgin wanted to do it, but a DUDE? GROSS! Quit pandering to the gays, Bioware!"

....okay, no, there's one "Asari" thing I'm going to wish for, and that's a male strip club. I don't care how "monogendered" the men are. I don't care if it's a strip club filled to the brim with male Turians and Salarians and Hanar all shaking their ill-defined butts. MORE MALE DANCERS, BIOWARE! PLEASE.
