I hope Ashley is a s/s romance in ME3. And that´s it.

Wow, that's, like, REALLY an extreme position. I mean, if she's the ONLY romance in ME3, a lot of players are going to be pissed. And, if you have her "turn" gay and invalidate or break up all the heterosexual romances out there, that would be... epic. Daring.

Possibly even just crazy enough to work?

And main!Shep's an Ashley girl to her bones, so hey, fine by me. :D

Actually I always wanted to know what the squad's hobbies were, I think that'd be a great entry point to do a DA-style "significant gift" that can trigger a romance if you want.

Well, we know Jacob's hobby.  Maybe Shepard can give him a shake-weight.

"The Wrath" is rarely fatal, hardly threatening, usually annoying and easily dismissed. Especially when the target is a woman.

Great, now I'm thinking of the ME cast starring in those commercials.

Wow! Now this thread is about bashing straight people. Is that what equality means? I was hoping that this thread would have stayed on the subject of what we were hoping to see with the inclusion of s/s relationships. Posted Image

*hangs head and leaves sad*

Whoa, hey now, when did that happen?

I don't think that any of us pull punches when it comes to the Straight Male Gamer, but as we've repeated several times, we hav enothing against gamers who happen to be male and heterosexual, but we take issue with the stance of self-proclaimed male gamers who hate it when their sexuality is "questioned" by the inclusion of same-sex options in "their" game.

I get this a lot as a Hispanic. People think we get off on saying we're oppressed that they can't wait to find any excuse to say they're being oppressed too. Checking back, it is true that I said "straight guys" when I should have said "CERTAIN straight guys." But as a straight male myself, I didn't think I need to be overt about not thinking that all of us are evil.

It seems that lately when I check in on this site it is focused on the “straight dudes” … I would hope that the rainbow community, of whom I am a long-time member, would use this thread to focus on what we would like to see in the game and not focus on those that have not yet had a real opportunity to know one of us. Is there ignorance in the real world? Yes ... There is also ignorance in our own community. That is why we all need to be tolerant of the other ... Hell, someone has to lead the way to enlightment and that road is never easy.

Overall, I have seen this thread approach the majority of posters with patience and immense restraint for the most part which was really great. Did we see some people "trolling"? Yes. But every thread sees that and there is plenty of "hate" on this forum not just for s/s relationships but characters as well. I think that there are multiple threads right now bashing Ash & Liara to start. So we are not alone in the "hate" department.

So, do we really need to keep talking about what young boys are saying at the stores or elsewhere? Or talking about how funny it would be to have a gay character hit on one of the “straight” gamers, because payback is a b4t*h? Or how FOX is out to eat our young? If so, can we make a thread specific to that and leave this thread to talk about what would be really cool for the same sex relationships? Posted Image

That is all I am asking. Just one thread where everyone holds hands, shows tolerance and stays in the light.

Please for the love of Kaidan!!!!!

I know, wishful thinking on my part.

Pretty much this. What you said was pure "wishful thinking." Anti-homosexual content is going to present itself on the BSN, and there's nothing we can do about that. Most of the time, we same-sex supporters offer logical, even-tempered responses to those individuals, but occasionally, we are going to make sarcastic and snarky comments to show our disapproval. I haven't seen any "hate" for straight gamers or any "hate" for any specific people, just a lot of snark. There's going to be anti-gay threads, and the some of us are going to use this pro-gay thread to laugh about it and blow off stress. If you expect all of us to be hand-holding lovey-dovey people one-hundred percent of the time, you're fooling yourself.

But huzzah for Kaidan! I hope that there's lots of new Kaidan screenshots at Comic-Con!

Has anyone seen the "I support heterosexuality in Mass Effect" banners or heard of the group standing for that?

Not hating on them, but I just think it's funny to suggest that supporting heterosexuality means opposing homosexuality. Like they're competing.

It's funny 'cause there's nothing to support, this franchise couldn't be filled with more heteronormativity than it already is.

Yeah, I don't... get it. I'm not sure if the pro-heterosexuality banners are supposed to oppose homosexuality, or if they're just trying to express how really really pleased they are with Mass Effect's existing heterosexual relationships. I don't want to be too quick to judge, because I wouldn't accuse a simple "pro-homosexuality" banner of being anti-heterosexual, and none of the "pro-heterosexuality" banners I've seen have been overtly anti-homosexual. So, I don't know who started them or why, but I don't want to jump to the conclusion that they oppose homosexuality.

Just read the description of their group and everything will be clear. social.bioware.com/group/1635/

Whoa. Whoooooooooooa now. :o

Not cool, guys. Not cool. Why does pro-heterosexuality have to imply anti-homosexuality? Because that's what they are! You can be pro-heterosexual and pro-homosexual. They're really just an anti-homosexual group trying to frame themselves in a better light.

Here's a tip. Don't want gay Shepard in your game? Then don't play a gay Shepard!

As David Gaider said:

And the person who says that the only way to please them is to restrict options for others is, if you ask me, the one who deserves it least.

I wonder what their stance on Asari is.
It has to be either "Monogendered: doesn't count" or "conveniantly ignored"

Well, you know, there are Liara fans who are fervently opposed to fem!Shep/Liara, and like to ignore that it's possible to romance her as a woman. <_<

I'm just pro-sexual period. If the partners are consenting adults, they can have relations with anyone they wish.

Well it seems they're trying to be respectful about it and we should respect their views, and hell, we should do that with any group regardless of whether they are trying to be respectful like this one or not. Of interest they do have a poll going that ask whether Gay romance should be included with yay/don't care or nay and I think everyone should take a moment to vote in it, why? Because I don't think they've made it to prove anything, I think they've made to honestly gauge opinion.

Really? That's awful, not to mention insulting to her character and her sexuality. I mean, I love romancing Zevran and Anders as a man, but I don't ignore the fact that others can romance them as women. I don't just brush their bisexuality aside because it suits me to pretend that they're gay.
