What if they take Vega the OPPOSITE route of what some of you are suggesting. A young punk who THINKS he knows it all, even though his inexperience is obvious, and is all like, "Yeah, whatever, watch this!"

Yeah, THAT'S what I want. Scrappy Doo.

No just no, that would seriously annoy me. The better question is why (apart from the aforementioned marketing reasons) do we get saddled with someone so obviously inexperienced in the final part of a trilogy where we must forge a grand coalition and hopefully engage in some delicate diplomacy to achieve that?  I just hope I can leave him on the ship the whole game but with my luck he'll be mandatory for the first third (assuming a three act story like many Bioware titles) of the game.

You must have missed the "seasoned soldier" and "not some dumb guys who is amazed by everything - he's a soldier. He's done his tour of duty." parts of his description.

Give me Kaidan and Vega as s/s options for ManShep and I couldn't ask for anything more! These two would be just perfect!

Question is: will I really have to choose one OR the other?

Unfortuantely, Kaidan doesn't like threesomes <_< And I will always pick Kaidan over anyone else but will make a separate Shep to try Vegamance :D Would amazing if there even was an option to suggest them a gay threesome xD There should be, straight/lesbian options had it <_<

I also think there should be an option to let Shep drink with Kaidan and / or Vega or anybody else. In ME 2 everytime he drinks, he always drinks alone and his squadmates just stand and watch. That looks strange

That'd be pretty great, and would work as a 'so still no romances huh, have a friend moment instead. Friendship is the real magic', which both Mass Effects have somewhat annoyingly lacked. If Shepard took off his/her helmet before downing a glass, that'd be good too. Part of me was also thoroughly disappointed - if entirely unsurprised - that getting hammered only slurred your speech whilst asking for more drinks. It would've made the Council meeting waaaay more interesting.

"You can... put your spectre status in... the thing more stuff goes in"

He better just be politically green, soooon. Ain't rookies getting aboard my Normandy, no sir.

Depending how the "new options" are implemented, that could indeed BE Shepard's policy.

I should've known someone would make that dirty ^_^

@ Finis Valorum -- Provided it's written well, I'd LOVE to have a character that is actually a pain in Shepard's ass [No pun intended]. Miranda was a disappointment for me because she QUICKLY became another groupie, and appreciate that Jack remained "unlikable" throughout the game, but she was surprisingly easy to manage.

I'd rather make regular Spectre reports to the Turian councillor for that also Miranda at least was someone with at least some leadership experience and a background of being engineered for perfection so it would have made sense in her case but please don't saddle me with a rookie with a superiority complex.

Like I said in this game we're going to have to convince most of the political leaders of the known galaxy to work together, if they are anything like our real world political leaders that alone is going to provide enough "pain in the ass" to satisfy even the most ardent masochist.

Wasn't that way back when he was still called James Sanders? Also compared to Shepard and all the others he most likely isn't all that seasoned.

I'll just be glad I edited my original response to not include the phrase "entry requirement". It seemed so innocuous at the time.

You are dead set on hating this guy.  I honestly don't think he's a threat to Kaidan's S/S status, but that's nothing more than a guess.

By "seasoned" maybe Bioware means that Vega drinks a lot of Tequila straight and keeps dumping salt on his fist.

Actually he is, just as the new female is to Tali/Miranda/Jack/Ashley being potentially available for s/s romance for FemShep. Because if BW runs out of time, almost sure they will scrap everyone but Vega and the new female. :(

I'm not responding because it's off topic and I'm still bitter about the "haircut only preteen boys would think is cool" thing that was reposted...

I also don't think Vega is any threat to Kaidan or Joker's potential to be a s/s LI. Not sure why when Vega comes up there's suddenly only going to be one s/s romancabe character.:?

I want someone sort of naive in politics so my shepard can b*tch about Udina.

Shepard: BULLSH*T IS WHAT POLITICS IS! *takes a drink* Don't let them fool you! They're liars and when throw you under the bus the moment it's convenient. Damn bureaucrats. Then when **** hits the fan they expect you to save their ass with a smile. They can all kiss my ass.

I have always wondered what the hell "ran out of time" to have s/s in ME1 really meant.

DESIGNER: So, we're ready to go. We just need your okay to pay the cast for s/s dialogue.

PRODUCER: Hmm, we need to check off a few more things, first. We'll let you know later.

*Repeat dialogue six times over the next seven months."

DESIGNER: So, are you ready to finance the s/s dialogue?

PRODUCER: In another month or so we could, but Microsoft just called and says we need to start the run now. We're out of time.

And that's where we disagree because I think we're getting exactly one m/m Li in ME3 and unless they've got another human male companion up their sleeve he's most likely going to be it. His new picture only confirms that I absolutely do not find him physically attractive and his stated role in the game along with Mr. Hudsons belief that even long time fans aren't smart enough to remember the state of the galaxy (or read the friggin codex for that matter) doesn't really get my hopes up for the quality of his writing and personality.

All we know is that he doesn't like threesomes with a woman and an Asari. We have no idea how he feels with two men.

It was more like this. "Hmmm... We've got dialogues recorded for s/s romances... But since it's a copy + paste job from straight versions, it doesn't work well in male/male and female/female context. We have to rewrite/rerecord it but there's other stuff to do and since gays are in minority there won't be much complaining overall = we're dropping s/s romances with Ashley/Kaidan."

I've never understood threesomes. The logistics of it never made any sense to me.

...Lost my train of thought.

Especially when, from what I've seen, the dialogue is right there, ready to go. If I can sex change a Shepard via the console - which I can - and still have a s/s romance play out just fine for the most part - which I can - I'm at a loss as to how they were just too darn short of time as to include it.

Then again, I'm a complete dolt when it comes to such things. It might as well be sorcery to me.

That makes sense, I suppose. I think I'd rather have them than not, though. Ho hum.

The unfortunate truth however in the case of Me3 I think the producers were only reluctantly willing to finance one m/m option in the first place because financing a second slightly rewritten and rerecorded romance would take away funding from AWESOME OMNIBLADES and MARVELLOUS MELEE ACTION not to mention executive bonuses.

I think they didn't want to deal with the possible backlash of having all the LIs bisexual similar to...

...what we see with DA2 now!

Only the Ashley/FemShep romance was green (and even that is missing some f/f only dialogue). Kaidan/Male Shepard is missing a good portion of dialogue and the sex scene animation.

But...yeah ME wouldve been the original all Bi LIs game if the ME team had gone ahead and made Ash and Kaidan bi. Pretty sure it would've been a lot better received than in DA2. (at least no one could claim any of the LIs were "retconned".)
