Yes, I have several gay friends who are not flamboyantly so but even they exhibit certain traits that distinguish them from straight men. James Vega might fit into the muscle bear subculture of gay world.

Well If you're going to insist on importing a savegame with the minimum number of people alive and all the worst choices made I daresay the consequences should be yours, view it as a challenge that adds replay value if you must. Whatever you do in the previous games or the comic you can never have less than the minimum required two squad mates even without any new characters since You'll always get Liara and either Ashley or Kaidan.

True but they will still need a certain amount of companions. Especially if those taking up slots are liable to be killed. So it's likely they'll be at least 2 more people.

It would be nice if the comic gave the option to retroactively s/s romance Kaidan though... I might play his romance if that's possible.
It would obviously suck for everyone importing who can't set that but still. Replay value and all.

This is the final part of a trilogy though and I had therefore hoped that any new squadmates introduced at this late stage would have a damned good reason for joining up that's actually vital to the plot. A marine grunt to hold new players hands through (at least) the first act of the game seems less than vital to the overall plot to me.
For example if this game really must have a Deus ex Machina ending then the last surviving Prothean would make a logical squad mate who's vital to the overall plot also the events of Arrival might set our Batarian ally up to be vital to the plot but Vega is most likely a pure marketing gimmick to draw in a certain type of new player along with the increased focus on (melee) combat.
Of course the worst slap in the face for me is the fact that since he's the only 100% guaranteed male human squad mate he's the most likely bisexual possibility and therefore probably the only m/m option in the entire trilogy and most certainly the only human m/m option.

But it's like I said before when it comes to what the writers or designers want versus what marketing wants, marketing will always win.

I've said this at least three times. 

There will be more new characters. 

I honestly can't see how or why you're getting the impression that a) Vega will even be bisexual and He'll be the only bisexual option.

We have a grand total of absolutely no confirmation of either of those facts.

What i mean is the romance starts with ashley/miranda telling fem Shepard what it is they appreciate about her and shep tells her...things and then the romance scene happens and Williams/Lawson falls in love with her.
