Fine, yes technically ME2's armour was somewhere between medium and heavy when compared to ME1 (though most optional pieces orient it more towards the heavy side), it's still not between medium and light and certainly not light armour.
But you've got to admit his default armour (along with the Blood Dragon optional dlc) was the lightest armour we got in ME2 with all the optional pieces and dlc armours being heavier.

The fact that Kaidens romance was cut does not make for a compelling story - working with "what could have been" is not a good way to go about writing something. What we need to work with are facts, and the fact is that Kaiden shows no interest in s/s romance in the first part. Now we can portray him in two ways:
1. Suffering in silence for 3 years or so without finding out if he has a chance. Which is an overly teenage/over-dramatic thing to do.
2. Not being interested, or at last not realizing his feelings to begin with.
I don't know about you but I rather have him be a bit slow on the uptake than an emotional masochist how likes his silent suffering. The second version is just to immature for my liking.

I wouldn't really call that fair. Shepard was dead to him for two of those years, after all.

True it's not between medium and light. Just more medium and heavy. 

It is the lightest armor true. But you do get the option between having heavy and mediumish armor.

I'm rather hoping light armour doesn't make a return, myself. Not because I don't like it or have some need to surround my Shepard in half a car, but because 'light armour' seems to mostly translate into 'cleavage ololol' these days. No, no thank you.

You have a valid point, not necessarily one I agree with but it's still a valid concern. However it's already a lost battle since they decided to go the full Star Wars route in ME2 where armour has zero effect on actual combat effectiveness.
It's just that if all the women are sexed up I want the men to be sexed up too, for me it's either both genders in sensible combat attire or both in equally impractical but stylish (or sexy) gear, however I just cannot stand the convention in fantasy (or science fantasy in this case) where the men must wear full plate armour and the women cavort about in what basically amounts to a piece of dental floss.
So in short if all the women and some of the men (Jacob, Thane) get combat casual gear I don't want my Shepards to be able to have that option too. 

But don't worry if anything Shepards armour choices in ME3 will be between his standard heavy armour and some dlc powered/mechanised armour that'll make Vega's armour look casual if the trend of Shepards armour getting heavier with each game continues unabated.

On topic: I'm not buying into the cynicism of expecting the s/s content to be cut. At this stage, when they've (bioware devs) have said it will be there, then I expect to see it. Regardless of the quantity. Bioware has generally good writers and I doubt they'll just do a "passing" job on the romances.

Oh.. I don't expect all of the s/s content to be cut, I just expect the m/m options at least to be whittled down to just one, with the excuse of it being due to time and budget constraints again, and I fear that that one will most likely be Vega since he's the only 100% guaranteed male human squadmate we'll have. Not to mention that now with don't ask don't tell being finally repealed in the US him being bi will have the potential to be quite the controversial marketing coup that will subvert many gay stereotypes and conventions while indirectly showing Bioware/EA supports America's gay servicepeople.

probably likley considering im expecting something simular to the suicide mission atleast and I know I used that mission to kill off characters I didnt like =3
