So far, all we know about Vega is that he is The Big Guy. As you can see, it breaks down into several sub-categories: berserker, gentle giant (Srgt Whiskers...), Dumb Muscle (which is what the masses are expecting), etc.

Review your tropes, kids before you make judgements.

since when did buff=stupid again? my highschool math teacher was about as beefy as him(went to the local ymca just about every day) and he was pretty damn smart (though my math teacher was hotter and didnt have that ugly fauxhawk)

...maybe thats why I dont mind vega that much >_>

And god yes. Buff =/= dumb I hope that Vega's one of the smartest people on the squad.

Nope, dress pants, button down shirt, and tie.
However, there was a year where he was in the Student (seniors) vs. Faculty basket ball game. He ended up falling over and one of the girls pounced him.

Which elicited a lot of jokes from us at his expense, later.

"Us" being the Future Problem Solvers group he was in charge of.

I understand how you feel and I have mixed feelings about this as wel. The problem is that in an action game like ME or DA, there is just so much time and resources that can be spent on developing a variety of love interests and even then there's the problem for Bioware that some gay males really like Alistair and I can only imagine what the response would have been if Liliana was gay only.

With the primary focus on killing things and blowing stuff up, the easiest way for game-makers to handle the LIs would be to make them bisexual or gender dependant s/s options. In other words, if you're playing a woman, the female LI would be gay.

Contrary to numerous whining posts I've read, NOT every DA party member was bisexual, only the romancable ones. That may be "artificial" or "fake," but so is the entire process of making a LI in the first place no matter what the persuasion. Personally I would love to see more Aveline or Wrex situations where the character just isn't into the hero just because player is willing to chat her/him up for hours to trigger a romance. In that respect I think DA2 did much better than ME2 which allowed the player to have heterosex with almost the entire party.

Not EVERY character in ME3 is going to be bi, of that I have NO doubt. There are even a few characters I have trouble imagining how Bioware is going to introduce s/s options for them as I'm sure most who post in this thread do. However, contrary to popular belief, we are NOT monolithic and even argue amongst ourselves on whether or not our particular favorite character is the best or should even be available.

*Sorry if I seem to be laying it on thick on your statement, but I'm writing this to be read by the many critics of s/s who admit to lurking on this thread.*

YAY! So glad this thread exist. My cannon Shepard is gay and he's been celibate for the past two games because he doesn't really find anyone interesting. I'm secretly hoping that Vega is the s/s option so my Shepard will finally have someone to be with. I wouldn't mind Keidan, but he wouldn't be my first choice...

Nothing has been confirmed about s/s romances besides "There will be s/s romances."

No one knows how many or with whom.

I think all the party members should be love interest no matter whether you play a male or female character.

At least then there's more options and nobody would be disappointed that their favorite character wasn't included.

That's just me, but I'd feel hypocritical if I thought of it any other way.

That's what they did with DA2, I was very pleasantly surprised by that in fact, however it looks like Bioware isn't likely to ever go that route again, unfortunately, meaning that in ME3 we most likely can choose only between Vega or celibacy.

Finis, some optimism! We've actually DID get Raphael Sbarge to spill that BW IS working on Kaidan's gay romance. Unlike it was the last time, this time the information about his gay romance comes already AFTER the official confirmation that same-sex relationship will be in the game. Not to mention the game has bigger resources ME1 had. I'm rather positive Kaidan's gay romance will make the cut, you really think they would do this to gay guys twice? Cut Kaidan's gay romance yet again after they've heard how much people were disappointed they've done it in ME1?

Aye Kaidan's boring to me too. Hell after Horizon I want to shoot him in the face. If he's the lone s/s option my male Shep will just have to deal with being a lonely bitter marine.

While a cute alien m/m Li  would most likely prevent any celibate heroism It will still feel pretty underwhelming to me if the only bisexual guy MShep ever encounters in the whole trilogy were to be Vega, I'd much rather have Jacob (or Lieutenant Taylor) but yes I'm a Kaidan fan first and foremost.
I don't mind Vega being a m/m Li I just don't like the likely prospect of Vega being the only (human) m/m Li.

Yes, I do and to rub salt in the wound maybe they'll either have Vega romance him if Shepard romances neither of them or reveal his doctor friend is male while his s/s with Shep gets cut again.

I like the idea of Kaidan, but then i remember the reality of Kaidan and it was just... meh.
Then there's the fact that if he's a s/s LI the romance will be less than the straight version. It won't have the history the straight version has. Something about that just doesn't sit that well with me. I think I'd be more comfortable with an LI that's got the same depth no matter what sex Shep is. Even if that means getting just a third-act romance with a new character.

Don't worry though. Sgt. Whiskers will protect you from the scarier Kaidan fans.

A. It's a video game and obviously my Shepard wouldn't actually shoot him in the face. More like ignore him only reason I'd kill him is if my Shep's forced to act buddy buddy with him. and B. Horizon.

If Taylor's as boring in bed as he is in conversation, he'll manage to turn my Shepard straight. I kind of hope that Bioware does this:

Alenko: Bisexual.
Vega: Exclusively gay.

That way players have the choice of s/s romance, but Vega is exclusive, for a good twist. Kind of like Sebastian was exclusive for m/f romances in Dragon Age II.

I'd be terribly annoyed if we got an alien romance. It's such a copout to me...
