Though: with a few exceptions, isn't it generally opponents who create threads? Given that they have no other place to vent their grievances, they may as well indulge the forum with a new thread every 24 hours, that expands to 15 or 20 pages and then gets locked. 

It's probably carthartic, or something.

My approach is simple. I don't let the clowns get a rise out of me. I am in control of my emotions, I am not about to let some yahoo on the internet harsh my calm. I will calmly and patiently skewer them with Obvious Logic, or otherwise show them to be not as "impartial" as they claim. Often they try to create false parallels, and it's usually pretty easy to knock those down. And it's certainly not something that's worth getting mad over. I have to conserve my precious reserves of anger for stuff that matters, not squander it on these bratty kids with too much time on their hands.

Pretty much. To be fair though, I kind of joined this forum out of nerdrage but have stuck around for three days because there are some legitimately cool people here like you, IsaacShep, Siansonea, gamer_girl, and others. So it's not ALL bad in the land of BSN. 

To answer my own questions...

Actually, this is the reason why I'm curious. I don't mean if they actually ARE tops or bottoms; that's unimportant to me in a sense. What I'm curious about is that if there is a scene between them interacting and Bioware doesn't cop out like they did with the cheesy sex scenes in ME 2, I'd be curious to see who does what. Kind of like in Dragon Age: Origins where it's more graphic than usual but still in good taste. So I wonder if my mShep romanced Kaidan, for example, how such scene would play out.

I've had this question since the first Mass Effect. I kept wondering because they said that Kaidan was originally planned to be an s/s romance option and if you've seen any of the sex scenes in ME, you'll probably get where my question comes from.

To be honest though: if it bothers anyone here to talk about it then we just won't talk about it. I mostly did it to inject some silliness into the topic since it was getting pretty heavy-handed and I thought it could use some lightening up by discussing something out of left field. I think I FAILed though, LOL!

Really? I sort of guessed the opposite. I can't imagine Kaidan topping Shepard whereas Vega at least looks like he potentially would be that way inclined. To me, at least.

If it's about s/s of any type, it will be closed. The mods said, many times, that this subject should say here, in this thread.

I thought the title explained my intentions well. I said I wanted the whole war with words to stop and that I had a solution to please everyone.

For what it's worth I read your initial post and almost entirely agreed with it.

But forums being as they are, you're never, ever going to have consensus. It's a very noble ambition and it was worth a try, but no matter how carefully your post was crafted it was almost doomed before it began. 

Some people are unwilling to have s/s content in their games *at all*, even if it's only player-initiated and all the dialogue is clearly marked. They have an ideological or moral objection to it, and no amount of reasoned logic will convince them otherwise. 

Some supporters of s/s don't particularly feel like compromising with people they feel don't respect them - and so they're arguing for some LIs to approach the player, rather than vice versa. I don't take this positon, but I can appreciate why people would. 

There are a hundred different positions on this issue and nothing is going to satisfy everybody. Bioware are going to have to alienate someone, and they know it - that would heavily influence their decision making process and the weight they put on ensuring that as few people as possible are annoyed by whatever they do. 

I don't actually think concensus or compromise is possible for many people on this issue, which is why it's a toxic argument on the forum. Too many ideologues with too many disparate and entrenched opinions. 

Haha well I'm glad you appreciate my effort, but you're right it was essentially doomed from the beginning and there isn't really a way to please everyone. Is there a way to please a very large majority of people however? I believe the answer to that is an enthusiastic "absolutely!"

Edit:
Not to mention people who have issues with character initiated romances are probably just looking for reasons to be angry. I mean really their only argument is realism, but in reality, the reapers would never happen, the majority of the aliens in the citadel wouldn't be humanoid nor would the main language be English. Also, not everyone would be swooning over Shepard.

Yay I'm not alone. 

I actually liked them too. They kind of started to dumb down (for lack of a better term) the sex scenes mostly because of huge prudes out there. I mean it's not like it was video game porn. It was probably as close as they could get to porn without it actually being porn though.
