I'm straight, but the only couples I can see together gay is Sheploo and Kaidan. Custom Shepards just look weird in general, so no to that. And doing anything with another alian is just... o_O straight or gay.

I hope he won't be a Kaidan m/m content stealer (which I do fear) in which case I won't be all that happy with him either, though outright shooting him is taking it a bit far methinks unless he's also programmed to ask really dumb questions and then only if we aren't given an option to somehow skip them or cut them short (possibly because Mr. Hudson seems to believe even veteran players are to senile to remember what we did in the past (two) game(s) ).
 

What will you do if he turns out to be endearing? =p

Agree except Ashley. If they *really* don't consider Liara an f/f option then Ashley will be one. If they do, then I think just new female squadmate (whoever she will be) for girls.

I strongly believe that if Kaidan is, Ashley is, and vice versa. Between the two of them, they appear to be approximately a character and a half from a dev perspective (consider not just their near-identical roles, animations and dialog in ME2, but also their numerous identical dialogs in ME1, both in post-Virmire general plot conversation and during elevator banter). Like an NPC version of the dudeShep/femShep divide, they fill the same role in the story depending on a variable chosen at game start. Whichever one is o/s is your default LI in ME1. Whichever one is alive is the Alliance's anti-Cerberus special agent in ME2. Whichever one is alive is the second human Spectre and your Alliance touchstone companion in ME3. It seems really unlikely to me that BioWare would separate them into "s/s LI" and "not s/s LI" when they can't even remember to separate them into "soldier" and "biotic."

Exactly!

There's no doubt in my mind that both of them will be. I'm just worried we won't get any m/m Vega love. That would suck.

We know nothing new since that. The only thing that popped out was a leak from Raphael Sbarge (Kaidan's voice actor) confirming BW wrote gay romance for Kaidan in ME3 so most likely he will be one of the options. Other than that, nothing concrete, not even rumors.

And this bugs the hell out of me. I get that for game reasons they need to do this to some extent. But I wish they would differentiate Kaidan and Ashley as much as possible. I have my fingers crossed that they will, but I'm steeling myself that I will be seeing the exact same animations and hear the same lines from both of them. <_<

Thanks!  They will probably have vega be Bi or Gay I would guess. And there is really (in my mind) absolutely no reason why all the aliens can't be Bi. If they are interested in humans in the first place it would not be a stretch that they are interested in the same sex at all.

That depends if he's only a Kaidan stealer and doesn't ask any nonskippable stupid questions, he'll be just another squad mate and all my ManSheps will just have to deal with being lonely, celibate heroes I guess. Also I'll be very angry at Hudson and silverman for cutting Kaidans s/s content yet again.

If he doesn't steal Kaidan but asks stupid and nonskippable questions I'll just leave him on the ship as much as possible.

It's only if he's going to be programmed to do both of the above that I'll have a problem with him being on my squad.

I'm not so sure. I'm sure the personal dialog will be different, the party conversations should be different, and the battle strategy should be different since Kaidan is a sentinel and Ashley is a blessed goddess of sex and destruction placed by Providence in human form to guide not only Shepard but all of humanity toward the path of salvation.

Stuff where they're performing "official Specter" duties will probably be identical though.

Yeah, I know all about Krogan STDs. Before Krogans all got STDs, they looked just like humans. That's what happens when the whole male population has to breed with a handful of females.

Of course not don't you know? He's obviously a vanguard now because that's way more manly and he's also going to be 100% straight. And no that's totally not a retcon because only same sex attraction in a previously introduced character would be retcon that could possibly break anyone's immersion.

Well after consulting my infallible Crystal Balls™ I can let you in on a secret. if you didn't save Kelly in ME2 she's going to be replaced an obese male called Kenny  and this Kenny will be romanceable by both genders of Shepard, though if you're playing male Shepard you have to come onto him at least thrice in various unsubtle ways before he'll acknowledge it and even then he'll mention his undying love of boobies at least once in every sentence he speaks for the rest of the relationship.
