It just occurred to me that if Fox News were to complain about video game sex scenes, how did they not complain about Heavy Rain. That one had way more boob shots had a bloody quicktime event to open a bra. Same with God of War 3 - quicktime events to please Aphrodite. And that one had full boob nudity.

I guess I'm lucky I only (mostly) buy Japanese PS2/3 games, no boobs in Heavy Rain or God of War 1 &2!  :P  Not sure about GoW3 though, my super rare box set version is still sealed.  Sony published it themselves this time around (as opposed to Capcom doing 1&2 in Japan) and gave it a Z rating.  A "Z" rating gets treated like an "AO" in the US.  The Japanese market is so pathetic these days, it makes me sad.  I remember the days when Japanese games always had to be censored in the US, how times have changed.

It makes me wonder if Mass Effect and DAO had the "sex" scenes (or love scenes as I like to think of them) censored in Japan.

Oh and uh, me be a gay too, as evidenced by my love of Alistair

The Japanese versions of GoW 1&2 had the mini games, but the bimbos had their boobs covered with bra thingies.  Heads being chopped off in CG clips were also cut.  Boobs and decpitations are a no no in Japan it seems.  For the consoles anyway.

The issue with ME/ME2's change in sex scenes is that Casey Hudson has stated that they're aiming for PG-13 romances where everything is reasonably innocent.

Crazy logic when half the game is filled with swearing and the other half is filled with torture, genocide and murder, but there you go.

I don't know what Mass Effect is rated in America or elsewhere, but in Australia any sex scenes more intense than simulated (and depending on the level of nudity) couldn't be released since we don't have an adult rating for video games. ME2 was already at the highest level for classification (due to swearing, intense themes and violence).

Heh, the OFLC is a joke.  The things they object to in games is so inconsistent.  Thank God for the internet!  I haven't bought a game here for over 10 years.

If they tried to stop ME3 being released here in Australia I'd show them the last thing they should be afraid of is video game violence and sex. I don't need biotics to be terrifying... just Mr. Burns naked... wearing a silly hat.

It's not like the Australian government will do much to change it, Julia is an emu woman caught up in trying to please everyone after Labor's shaky election so she won't work on it, Abbott is a slime-ball who won't do it because he doesn't like it and Brown is an awesome gay hippy whose party will probably never become the ruling party.

They would be in for a major storm from players shouldME3 ever be banned/naot allowed in, I mean, many Aussie gamers are already riled up about Mortal Kombat. I doubt this will be the case though, Bioware has always managed to walk as close to the line as possible without crossing it, if they ever did it would only be because 'moral guardians' push the line back further for a time.

/insert much frantic gesticulation

I started another ME2 playtrough yesterday and on freedom's progress when the Mech stomps on the poor quarian, I actually thought this: Yeah, that's ok, but s/s romance, even flirting is cause for so much outrage!

And I am really starting to have high hopes for Vega, personally I have never found any of the male Bioware LI's that interesting, Kaidan is the still the best of them, but still not what I am looking for.
Normally, I don't like my man that muscular, but if they make him an interesting character, I am willing to overlook that.

To answer Foxhound's question:
I am bisexual, kind of a male Kelly Chambers, very loving :D,
(scale itch and all  - No, not really, but I needed to make that joke, before someone else thought of it.)
Physically, i'd say, I am equally attracted to male and female bodies of various types, but a.t.m. my heart seems to be more interested in the girls, though it has been known to surprise me at times.

It's already in the game. You don't have to play it.

Funny, when I look at that picture of Vega in that tight top with all those hard muscles popping through the fabric, it makes me feel... Well let's just say far from sick. Poor you for feeling seek! You should seek a cure for that :)

@Augoeides

I still can't believe they banned MK. First good game they've made since MKII (IMHO), and 98% of people in this country won't get to play it. Ithas the best story mode I've ever seen in a fighter, and those X-RAY moves are just too much fun!

And god's forbid there's a game with sexual diversity. D:

Is anyone else sick of companies aiming for PG-13 age zone?  Most of recent hollywood blockbusters have been PG-13 and I frankly am sick of peoples' lack of balls in making an actual MATURE, adult movie/game!  I am an adult!  I don't have kids and I don't need my entertainment to cater to that age zone.

Mass Effect is a M-rated game so why the hell do they insist on trying to keep it "PG-13"?  Throw in the damn boobs, the ass shots, pubic hair, the full frontal male body shots, etc.  Sick of the "PG-13" mentality.  It's the reason most of the recent superhero movies have sucked!  Look at the Witcher 2, which has sold really well depsite that it has only been released on the PC so far.

If their goal of "PG-13" material is so that their games will sell more, the Witcher II is the proof that keeping your game PG-13 doesn't necessarily mean more sales and that an actual Mature game, not the sissy stuff Bioware keeps giving us, is capable of selling really well if done right.
