If they're trying to learn from the... let's just say response to DA2, I predict there'll be bi-sexual women rappelling down from the ceiling and pouring through every door, all of whom are hot for Shepard and only Shepard, but no homosexual men whatsoever.
I say this because Anders calling male characters "scruffy" was apparently an intolerable affront to heterosexuality everywhere. Isabela hitting on Hawke half a dozen times was fine. Isabela hitting on anyone else made her a ****, though.
Double standards are amazing.
This is exactly what I expect from the ME3 dev. team though technically those women wouldn't be bi but Shepardsexual.
I liked the all bi approach Da2 took to romance, it finally gave me some real choice, unfortunately it doesn't seem likely that ME3 will repeat that considering the ME3 dev team we'll be lucky to get Vega as the token bisexual male.
Ideally how and if a love interest approaches the player character should be decided based upon their their personality, for example a shy girl might never work up the courage to approach the Hero on her own while a hot but adorkable guy might go about it in a rather clumsy way while characters like Isabela and Zevran should flirt with pretty much anything that walks including our heroes.
That said I can make peace with having to do all the work to start a romance in game myself so long as it is free of the double standard, if the women keep throwing themselves at my feet while I must approach all eligible guys at least thrice before they'll even acknowledge me I won't be all that happy.

I'm curious to know...
How many people posting in this thread are straight girls?
How many are straight guys?
How many are gay gals?
How many are gay men?
I'm a gay guy...
Everyone else?
Predominantly gay guy here.

But I do think they'll give female
players a female human option (and ditto for the m/m one), because I
don't think the reaction to players getting a same-gendered alien as
the s/s love interest would go down well. Don't get me wrong, there's
plenty of fans of, say, Garrus out there, but to me at least it would
seem like an attempt to avoid controversy by making the relationship
technically xenophilic rather than homosexual.
Which is exactly why the ME3 devs and EA marketing might prefer to take this route who knows we might make first contact with the all male looking offshoot of the Asari race. (I can't get it ouf my mind since seeing IsaacSheps drawing).
