Cuddling with body armor and rifles is kind of funny,  Shepard and Miranda look like they're waiting to die.

I wanted it to be like 80s space operas :P The heroes in old sci-fi flicks were often cuddling their women holding rifles, I just replaced a woman with another man :P Doubt they would laugh like that had I put Miranda with a pistol there in place of Kaidan... :?:(

I think its very well done, except sheps expression is a little off. but then again it could be the infamous 1000 yard stare, that would fit.

It's a fantastic picture. I love the detail on Kaidan's armour and the skyscape with the Mass Relay in the background.

Confirmation bias:  It's not necessarily true that the individual laughed because it was a M/M pairing.

I think the fact that it was printed out shows that someone liked it. I wouldn't let it bother you. People get a little crazy preparing for a show- but if it was never an option to be hung, it wouldn't have been printed up. Ink ain't cheap. Someone selected it because they liked it and thought it deserved a shot at being put up. <33

The longest livestream from yesterday, the one that's 1:06:23 long. At 54 minutes mark, one guy goes through different fanarts and stumbles upon mine and bursts out laughing <_<

Sorry, but seeing your reaction, then going to see that moment made me burst out laughing as well. Posted Image

Who are are those people, anyway? I recognise Gaider, but neither of the two ladies nor the laughing guy. My first guess would be that they're Mary, Sheryl and Lukas Kristjanson. But that's just that; a guess.

Doubt anyone would consider this funny <_<:(

Well, I kinda do, because it looks like Shep and Miri are covered in bacon grease.
Will never understand the popularity of that guy's work...

Anyway, sorry if the (apparent) blushing giggles wasn't the reaction you wanted for your own piece, Isaac. But it is a reaction, at least! Worst possible scenario would be complete and utter indifference.

LiquidGrape your photo made me remember something I read online that was really hilarious.

"Oh Cat Woman must be in that movie. Why else would they call it Dark Knight Rises?" XD

Hey look on the brightside, maybe they are laughing because it's exactly like the new cutscene they've been working on for the new Kaidan and Shep m/m romance!  It's not terriblely likely I''ll admit but you never know... ;)

Agree here.  Everyone's a critic, but we can't confirm that it was the subject pairing that made him laugh.

I just looked at the livestream video...

We need people who can read lips to work out what they're saying ;)

But it didn't look like they were laughing at Shep/Kaidan, the lady was pointing at the bottom left (was that the title? Or was she pointing at the relay?) and Gaider probably wouldn't laugh at that sort of thing.

Gaider's always been a proponent for s/s so I really doubt he'd ever laugh at that.

My boyfriend laughed when he saw that picture and said, "Why is Shepard hugging himself?"

And I said, "....that's Kaidan."

And my boyfriend went, "OH! ....awwwww, that's nice."

So, yeah, we don't know WHY that jerk was laughing.... I really wish I could hear the audio... but yeah, I'm kind of indignant. Gay Shepard isn't a joke.

Well the relay has a certain phallic look to it,  coupled with the explosion of white light and the embrace of two males who may very well be suffering from a three year long stint of blue balls... and wallla.  Hilarity insues.

lmao I didn't. Beam of light is another 80s space opera stample I wanted to incorporate and the Counduit was perfect for it

I just watched it and that was the first thing I noticed too. She's definitely pointing at the relay and she pointed and said something about it before the other guy laughed.
The extremely phallic relay blasting bright white "light" into the sky while Kaidan and Shep hold each other...
I really do think the laughing was in no way related to the gayness. This is Bioware fanart we're talking about... There's no way in heck yours was the only slashy picture in that stack.

ETA: If it's fanart for all bioware games and not just ME then there's the scary potential that yours was the most clothed slashy picture in that stack.
Have you seen some of the Zevran/Alistair fanart out there?
Merlin's beard. :pinched:

Yeah, this was what first crossed my mind as well.

She was pointing at the bottom right and sorta giggling, after the other guy lost it laughing.

I don't think it's related to the characters at all, more the subtext of the mass relay

Yeah but he still laughed at first a second after he first saw it...

Ahh whatever. Happy they printed it, sent it to show support for mShep/Kaidan and it seemed like a perfect occasion, they saw it themselves

Ya it's kind of stupid. It's the same in reality. If a girl sleeps around they're labeled as a ****, and if a guy does it, they get the hero treatment. <_<

It's not only a double standard,  it's confusing.

Women are considered ****s if they enjoy sex,  but,  we're labeled as frigid if we don't "put out."  There's no way to win sometimes.

^^ so true.  I was just reading through a bit, and this reminded me of the old 80's movie War Games, and the line about nuclear war; something like, "A curious game.  The only way to win is not to play."

Edit:  I should add, now if only there were a way to keep the other side from playing.

I don't think you should be jumping to conclussions though Isaac. Take it from someone who has done it far more than it was necessary it seems to cause more harm than good. If they thought it was lulzy because of the homosexual context they wouldn't have printed.

If it was Gaidar he more than likely wasn't laughing at the pairing, he's a decent friend of the queer community in gaming (Even if some people assume otherwise.) So, just take it in stride... it's a great piece of work (I'm absolutely jealous I can't draw/paint/ or what have you) that has a rather hilariously sexual undercurrents.
