From the way Casey was talking I really got the feeling that the core squad, the properly perminent group, is going to be extremely small. Possibly even just VS, Liara, Vega, and The Vigilante. with everyone else being temporary in one way or another.

I also got the impression that "temporary" is going to involve a lot of different things.  Deaths for starters. Non-squad NPCs. Plot related departures. Mission-based-availability. And maybe even an ultimatum or two.

I hope that the same-sex male romance stays with us for most of the game--and yes, I feel that way for very selfish reasons. After waiting and waiting and waiting for the man of his dreams, gayShep is going to want to hang on to him!

Male Romance: I know that fighting the Reapers is important, but the plot says I must leave the Normandy and go far, far away.

Gay Shepard: But... I just found you! :crying:

It would be so sad. I'm really hoping that the "deeper emotional connection" the Bioware keeps promoting will really pay off for fans who have been waiting for same-sex romances.

You just voiced one of our main fears... I refuse to believe BW will be this mean to us :crying:  It would be particularly ridiculous if a human LI had to leave somewhere in the middle of the game only cause the plot says so. Aren't humans in the same boat?  Aliens could have some special reasons, tho again it would be unfair. But Kaidan or Vega suddenly deciding to cut off romantic sweet talks, get so very busy and leave Shepard for any lame reason...that would ruin most of the fun ME 3 has to offer

I seriously doubt everyone will take off for half the game at one point or another. I imagine you'll still have your core team of characters with you for the entirety, which I also imagine will include Vega and the Virmire Survivor, which are the likely candidates for s/s.

What you won't have are over a dozen team members cooling their heels on the Normandy whilst two of them go ground side. The rest will show up, but won't accompany you permanently. I don't imagine they'll abandon the idea of a permanent squad completely though. Folks seem to prefer taking the same two with them everywhere. I know I do.

Even the fact that Bioware have termed some 'permanent' and others 'temporary' seems to indicate (pretty obviously) that there'll be a core team.

Given how little we saw of the VS in ME2, I'd imagine they'll be in that core. Ditto for Vega, who after all needs to explain things to overawed Gears fans.

When is this 'Bioware March' thing that's meant to happen today? Timezones are confusing but I think it's in about 12 hours or so?

If anyone has to leave or die I imagine it will be like Virmire. Well, I hope it will. In that scenario I would just choose someone who wasn't my current LI xD

So if they do have to leave, hopefully we get a choice and our Sheps can keep their romance whilst still having someone leave for plot purposes.

I'm wondering if a party member could actually TURN ON SHEPARD. Not through indoctrination, but, say, Shepard may have force the Geth to become cannon fodder using some technique that Cerberus had developed or something similar to the Rachni and/or Krogans. Or maybe Shepard may make a decision to NOT notify the military branch of the Quarian fleet that their civilian ships are under attack because s/he needs them to continue an assault that could save the lives of millions. Maybe a Salarian colony of 100,000 is about to be wiped out, but a Batarian planet with 1,000,000 also needs aid and Shepard can't save them both.

I'd be curious how a bromance or romance status could affect their reaction. I remember playing DA:A and suddenly Siguin turned on the Warden when I decided to help the "smart" Darkspawn. I hated that it happened since she was a favorite, but I like that writers put that possibility in the game.

I liked that feature with Wrex when he nearly turns on you in ME1. Quite a tense moment.

Also, am I the only one who thinks it would be interesting to bring Shiala back as both a love interest and squadmate? Depending on whether you let her survive ME1 and were a paragon in ME2, she expresses interest in both Shepards, and also has combat and biotic skills to offer. Just a thought.

I'd like that, but I fear it'd work in much the same way as it does in Dragon Age: Shepard would invoke his/her talk-jitsu and instantly sway them to his/her way of thinking. Or at least curb them into submission.

Just think of their separation in the game as a chance to explore some of ME3's many hidden features: phone sex, sexting, and transmitting FTL cell phone pictures of each other's breasts/johnsons.

That would be cool. I could see Tali turning on me and saying Shepard how could you lie to us? Then I'll just nod to Ashley and she'll put Tali down like a rabid dog.

In fact I hope that like ME1 ash will be my personal executioner of mutinous squadmatees!

The way Casey described moments where you're put in conflict with former squadmates it sounded like exactly that. The galaxy is at war and everyone has their own interests to worry about and eventually they'll come into conflict with someone else's interests.

Or the option could be made much more difficult. Perhaps the charm/intimidate options, which is what most would initially rely on, would not work? Make said squadmate in their hour of treachery immune to Shepard's speaking powers.

I would like to see her return, as well as Parasini, Vernor, Urz, Biotic God, and, of course, the pjack that's still holding a grudge.

I think the reason he mentions squadmates leaving is because at some point you're going to have to make choices and you'll probably lose a core member and gain a new one. I'm sure at some point you're probably gonna' have to choose between members by doing something that might ****** them off. I can easily imagine a really, really tough Tali vs. Legion scenario...

This might be why Hudson says some team members are "temporary." They wouldn't really join unless and until you made that decision.

If Vega is gay, he's staying the whole way through (unless he's AWFUL on levels of Biblical proportions). Same with Kaidan/Ash, Liara, Tali, and if possible, Wrex. I could never lose any of those...

I just hope I don't get into a conflict with Samara. I'll feel really bad if I have murder her face into the ground! D:

If your gay LI leaves you, the game will automatically kick in the back up: Conrad Vernor, "Here I am, my love! Let's save the galaxy!"

EDIT: It's established early on in the game that he has donned a space suit and is riding on the bottom of the Normandy, similar to Robert DeNiro in "Cape Fear."

I would LOVE for the blue/red options to actually fail once in a while. You'd still get the paragon/renegade points for trying, but there are some situations where sweet talking shouldn't be enough. However, I am sure a great many fans would be ticked it that were to happen.

Also, if a character does turn on Shepard, I hope it doesn't automatically go right to a fight. If, say, Tali were to turn on you for helping the Geth, she should be smart enough to know she could never take down Shepard alone and live. She should just seem disappointed and walk away. Later, the engines suffer a spectacular failure and Shepard finds the halls booby trapped when s/he tries to find her. I could see a similar situation with Legion or Miranda.

A tough one would be EDI. She's a Cerberus AI, so the Alliance, who now have the ship, won't trust her. She's artificial, so she may have sympathy for the Geth. THAT could be a really rough betrayal.
