Its amazing when people want to talk about Miranda being sexualized, how Jacob is ignored. Its funny in gaming in general with that, everyone wants to whine about Zero Suit Samus, Lara Croft's bust, Nariko in Heavenly Sword. But the jacked dudes, who look like they came out the womb with a six pack, that is ignored, only woman are victims lol.

I tend to avoid Jacob at all costs, so I don't really pay attention.  Miranda I notice since I love her character and talk to her a lot, but I don't want the camera to pan suggestively whenever I do.  :P

When guys get "bouncing" physics, we can talk.

Not to mention, these characters aren't 'sexualized' in the same way the female characters are. They're created as male-player self-insert avatars, not love interests. They're not standing around flexing their muscles while the female characters are driving the story.

And point proven lol. I'm sure if males had something to bounce that could be shown in games, males would. Second, none of the woman I mentioned are love interest and are the ones smashing faces and shooting dinosaurs and driving the narrative in their games, but their still considered sexualized, like they are staring in a DoA volleyball game. And Jacob did just stand around flexing in a skin tight suit.

Maybe I didn't notice Jacob because the camera didn't zoom in on his ass and not move until I made a selection before going back to zoom on it again. Just sayin'

I take it nothing was said in the writers panel?

Because the 'Bioware March' thing was just revealing the potential appearances for default femShep...

We should outright ask them if:

a) Vega is a love interest.

B) Who the s/s romances are.

We should SPAM that Twitter with these questions repeatedly so they can't ignore us, LOL.

Yes, S|S tel alredy must tall us.

I am a straight female who would love more men in cat suits in video games but as much as I like Jacob I did not seem to notice his status as male eye candy as much as you did. Perhaps your Jacob lust was stronger than mine and for that I feel ashamed.

Should they not do that anyway?  :innocent:

Yes they should. Why should Miranda's butt hog up all the camera time? Maybe Bioware can correct this grievous error by giving us straight girls and gay guys gratuitous butt shots of all the human male squad members. And make them turn around for the camera too, especially when they are in the shower.

Play ME2 again and pay attention to the camera when Jacob is on screen. Miranda aint the only one Bioware was showing off.

There are lots of great shots of M!Sheps butt too. I love whomever designed that default armor.

I have nothing against beautiful women being depicted in video games, in fact, I appreciate it very much. However, I almost laughed my ass off during Miranda's first conversation in her Normandy office when she did her Maxim pose with the chair and the camera parked right behind her ass and stayed there showing Shepard in the background.

Even Liara's/Ashley's/Shepard's bare butt in ME1 showed more respect and class for the characters.

Her cat suit was appropriate for her character in an office setting, after all, she admitted she used her sexuality to her advantage. I would venture to guess that TIM actually encouraged her to charm Shepard.

What I hated was the catsuit in combat. On everyone who wore one, not just Miranda. Especially since the Collector's secret weapon was a swarm of bugs that paralysed anyone with exposed skin. And don't get me started on ANY TV show, video game, cartoon, or movie that depicts women in high heels in combat situations.

Well I do not waste time on Shepard's butt since he does not have sex with himself.

...

Maybe ME3 can make Shepard his own love interest.

I like beautiful women (and men) in video games too. But please don't shove their assets down my throat.

I loved the bare butt in ME1. Because it was CONTEXT APPROPRIATE. It made sense. Of course you expect DAT ASS to be seen during a love scene.

TIM probably did. Looks like that might've backfired for him. Not like that's new.

ugh heels in combat. The facepalm. Ugh the facepalm. :pinched: The catsuits were bad but the heels...ugh they just made it so much worse.

A-freakin-men!

Edit: it's actually less common in movies, because, y'know, laws of physics and all. You usually see it in video games and comics.

Yes! Just imagine how nice his butt and legs would look if he wore high heels.

And now I'm reminded of a Jeff Foxworthy routine.

There is a difference between sexualizing males and sexualizing females in the media. Males do not have a history of systematically being depicted as nothing but pretty rewards for a female hero to bang. Males weren't depicted as useless for any purpose except sex, playing families and looking pretty in all the history of human art. Males don't have a history of exploitative, demeaning, one-sided portrayal in video games, movies, TV, etc.

When Jacob is depicted as a musclebound god of machoness it is a one-time event. When Miranda's ass is shoved into the camera it is a part of larger pattern, perpetuating the portrayal of women in the media as nothing but sex objects.

It's not that hard to see the difference if you apply a bit of brain to the problem.

It's the same with same-sex relationships. Heterosexual relationships can easily be portrayed as destructive, abusive, and exploitative without fear of skeeviness, because they are represented widely through the history of art, as wholesome and healing as well as troubled. When there's a homosexual relationship portrayed as destructive or something the character 'grown out of', it has an unfortunate implication of homosexuality=sing of wrongness.

Yes, I am looking at you, Morinth. Yes, I am looking at you, Jack's past female lover.

Aaanyway. I'm sorry for preaching. Same-sex romance in ME3! Cool, huh? >_>
