This is slightly on topic, but I wonder about the whole concept of the Joker romance. I mean really, how could you do anything with him without his bones being all rickety and fracturing?

There are ways. Many potential ways that some people may have spent a tad too much time contemplating in their jokermancing minds.

LA LA LA.
Nothing to see here.
Move it along.

Yeah, but he's only ambiguously gay, like Prietor Gavorn. :?

Quit hiding your gays, Mass Effect universe. It's the twenty-second century.

"ambiguously gay" as in they shove it down your throat quite a bit well khalee does

really im not joking they dont outright say hes gay but khalee certain says hes into men with quite a few of her comments

It's only brought up once. Kahlee's boyfriend says he's jealous of the time that she spends with Hendel. Kahlee laughs and tells him something like "Hendel wouldn't be interested in me, but he might be interested in you". Then it's never mentioned again.

Haha after that sex talk with Mordin, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's created a multipurpose ointment that's friendly to many species.

Pssst...let's avoid the use of the word "sodomy". Let's just call it anal sex, if we have to be that explicit. And really, do we have to be that explicit?;)

Of course now I've Bette Midler music stuck in my head, what to do, what to do...

You think "anal sex" sounds better than the S word? Okay you are the OP.

Probably because of the connotations that come with the "s word" haha.

Sodomy has a nasty connotation to it. Anal bum sex doesn't have the same "ebil" history that sodomy does.

This could apply to m/m AND f/f since I see the lesbian fans are once again losing ground here.

"Toys."

I KNOW that Bioware will NEVER show us Shepard and Ashley "playing with toys" but do you think they could at least be mentioned? Or do you want it to stay "no props" or just keep it vague?

@ Siansonea II & ElitePinecone -- Creative writers are notorious for taking as few math classes as possible.

One thing that you have pointed out is that Miranda is so much ME recon already that it should not be a big deal if she should be made a bi option in ME3.

I don't think Miranda is really a retcon per se, after all, humanity was already using mass relays, settling new colony worlds in the Arcturus cluster, and all of that before First Contact. So eezo drives were in use, and eezo as an element was understood somewhat. But biotics was something that we didn't find out about until after First Contact, but once the dust settled I doubt it took very long for humanity to get up to speed (and to recognize how very advantageous human biotics would be). Cerberus sure got the Subject Zero project going quickly enough, though obviously it was around the time Conatix and the Jump Zero program were already running in the 2160s. Miranda's father no doubt subjected Miranda to some sort of brutal medical something-or-other to give her biotics, maybe something as hit-or-miss as simple eezo exposure. And who's to say Miranda's father only made ONE Miranda of her generation. If he really wanted a legacy, he would have had numerous Miranda's growing at a time, after all, she did say she was 'the first one he kept', which might have been code for 'first one that survived the sick experiments that yielded biotic potential'. Oriana was born after biotics were understood more fully, so no doubt she was exposed to eezo very carefully while in her 'glass mother'.

Can we try and keep this out of the gutter.

It hardly helps to counter the stereotype that every member of the BSN is a raving sexual deviant who fantasises about fictional characters.

I mean, seriously.

Given the devolution from ME's partial nudity -> DA2's fully-clothed-spooning-fade-to-black we'll be lucky if Shepard kisses anyone too forcefully. There's no way toys are going to get mentioned.

This, and because the word is usually used in the context of religion (Sodom and Gomorrah, etc.) and in relation to anti m/m legal statutes. It's just a very "anti" word, at least in the United States. It might be much more innocuous elsewhere, I don't know. *shrug*

Of course, we could just call it "Shepard's Special Happy Times". :wizard:

It's only brought up once. Kahlee's boyfriend says he's jealous of the time that she spends with Hendel. Kahlee laughs and tells him something like "Hendel wouldn't be interested in me, but he might be interested in you". Then it's never mentioned again.

Nope.  It's brought up again a few pages after that:

“Forget it,” she told him. “We need to get there before Grayson’s shuttle touches down. I’m afraid of what might happen if we leave him alone with Hendel.”

“Why does he hate Grayson so much?” Jiro asked, rubbing shampoo into her hair from behind.

Because he thinks Grayson is so prejudiced against biotics that he can only bear to see his own daughter twice a year. Because Hendel’s own parents dumped him off with the BAaT program when he was a kid, basically disowning him. Because part of him thinks helping Gillian learn to cope with her biotics might get rid of the memories of his own abandonment and childhood isolation.

“It’s complicated” was all she said.

“Maybe Hendel’s got a crush on him,” Jiro teased.

Kahlee let out a disapproving sigh. “I just pray to God you aren’t stupid enough to ever make that joke where he can hear you.”

and again a short while later:

The young woman behind the registration desk glanced up as Hendel approached, her face brightening when she recognized the Ascension Project’s security chief.

You’re wasting your time, sister, Kahlee thought.

and yet again a little after that:

Gillian smiled. “You like Hendel.”

“He’s a good friend.”

The girl’s smile broadened even further. “Will you two get married some day?”

Kahlee laughed out loud in spite of herself. “I don’t think Hendel wants to get married.”

Gillian’s smile slipped, but didn’t disappear completely. “He should marry you,” she insisted, matter-of-factly. “You’re nice.”

This wasn’t the time to explain why that would never happen, so Kahlee decided to change the subject.

As for it not being mentioned more after....Hendel's character has been quite well-established by then and it's not particularly relevant to the plot. Neither is anyone else's sexuality once Jiro's cover is blown, which is why theirs aren't brought up constantly throughout the novel either.

Trufax: When Ashley said "no, you come over here" to main!Shep, main!Shep didn't tease back, she just smirked and did a biotic pull. Sure, it's not in the cutscene, but the cutscene also gives main!Shep a dude's body ten seconds after that, so it's just generally wrong on several accounts.

Though one thing to remember is that biotics, like space ships, have to discharge the drive core occasionally. Not like that, you pervs! Electrically. So if you're shagging a biotic, be prepared to be violently shocked every time you touch each other during biotic use unless said biotic is able to ground themself first (not likely during the hot 'n' heavy).

Because there's an entire thread still open discussing Asari reproductive organs. And a few hours ago there was a half page discussion about alien shower sex...

I do hope BioWare doesn't continue the "PG-13" nonsense. I don't need Witcher 2-style soft core male-gaze porn, but I would like it if it was handled maturely. And by maturely, I mean the writing more than anything. These scenes should be dialogs. But no more cringe-inducing "prize" lines. Show intimacy, not silly romps. The galaxy is under attack, a gropefest in the engine room doesn't seem consistent with where Shepard and the LI are at emotionally this late in the game, even if it's a new LI. These are the few moments in the day when they can let their hair down, and it's not going to be leering rapefaces and Jennifer Hale RapeVoice™. It's going to be much more human and organic than that. These are the moments when Shepard will be the most human, where Shepard will be able to say what's really going on in his/her mind to the LI. There will be attempts at jokes, some awkward silences, some crossed wires, and some silent understanding. And you might see some sideboob or a bare butt at some point, no big deal.

I figure, we're the s/s thread. A fair number of people are already convinced that anything to do with s/s at all is automatically raving obsession with sex, and sexual deviance at that. They're going to think that anyway, no matter what we say or do. So why not enjoy ourselves with some silly jokes?

Also, disabusing people of the rather harmful notion that you have to be able-bodied to have sex is... well I'm not going to say it's ever a bad thing. And given it's about Joker s/s, it's more on-topic than a lot of less "gutter" stuff we talk about here.

I have actually had this discussion with a certain person outside this thread, but I admit that I have been guilty of this as well. At this point the thread has come to be a hang out for a section of the BSN community and I think that once a ball gets rolling it can be hard to stop.

I think the people here have become friends of sorts, but in a thread about romance and sex, there are not a lot of options to talk about other things for long before we get off topic, and we know better than to be TOO specific discussing our personal lives on an open forum on the internet.

This is a thread about romantic options and Bioware has incorprated sexuality into it. It's only natural that when talking about how love and sex should be handled in the game that each person brings will bring up their own questions, views and experience on the subject. And I like that we can be frank about it.

As for others lurking in the background trying to find proof that we're perverts, to hell with them. If they can't tell if we are being ironic, sarcastic, self depricating, serious, or humorous, I won't consider it a great loss if they do turn away in disgust. It is just too damn hard in the BSN to have a frank, serious and mature discussion of the sexuality of fictional characters without being able to talk about religion and the current political climate.
