Yes, yes. Of course. Maybe we can swing this topic to a different discussion...

So...erhm...ManShep giving or receiving?

I think it's pretty safe to say both manShep and femShep are tops ;)

Should this be canon until BW agrees that these will go untouched?

http://masseffect.wi...om/wiki/Romance

Maybe even here from May 16th.

Maybe it meant that the new LI will be homosexual and the older ones remain unchanged?

Seriously? I don't imagine BioWare is going to venture into hardcore territory, so I think it's up to the player to imagine this if they wish. I have a gay Shepard, but I'm not really concerned about the nuts-and-bolts (*wink*) aspect of the sexual interaction of my Shepards. I assume they're all doing stuff they and their partners enjoy, and that's the end of it for me.

After femShep starts romancing Liara, isn't there a scene in which Ashley brings it up to Shepard, and Shepard asks if Ashley has a problem because she's female? Does anyone remember (and a link would be great) Ashley's response?

I don't think that ever happens. The Mass Effect squadmates are notoriously uncaring about who Shepard is sleeping with (Kasumi being the exception) unless he or she is involved. Ashley has concerns about all of the aliens Shepard recruits, but never mentions Shepard's relationship with Liara, unless Shepard is also in a relationship with Ashley.

The only time the girl-on-girl action is questioned is if Shepard brings it up herself with Liara, or by Kaidan, if Shepard is in a relationship with both Kaidan and Liara. Kaidan says, "I didn't know you... liked other women" and leaves it at that.

Tangentially, did you ever notice how Bioware is pretty careful to never say "gay," "homosexual," "lesbian," or anything of the sort? They always deflect to, "...interested in wo/men." The most amusing case of this, in my opinion, happened in DA:O, between a male Warden and Zevran.

Warden: Have you always been...?
Zevran: ....intriuged by tight leather clothing?
Warden: ...interested in men.
Zevran: (huge laugh)

It's kind of cute, in it's way... I suppose they're hestitant to lable their characters as "homosexual" or "bisexual" or whathave you, and I can respect that.

I really don't remember this ever occuring.

That very well could be the case, it's been years and I only vaguely remember. Maybe it was some other game/movie or something.

Yeah...now I'm trying to think if this ever happened in another BW game...

Ash also had dialogue with femshep.
Remember their was no sexual identity with Ash or Kaidan they recorded the same exact lines.

Bioware released ME1 with them as straight so I don't see how this further's your argument

I should say pro gay crowd.  Politely Asking and demanding both sound like extremes we should find a middle ground.

I'm pretty sure we are the middle ground.

No one has demanded anything. Bioware provided a forum to collect feedback. People provide feedback. Bioware chooses to take it into consideration or not. That's why we have romanceable Tali and Garrus and that's why we got rid of the ridiculous ctrl-v arsenal of guns and armor from ME1.

If they didn't want to put this in, they'd ignore it, like they do so many other requests they see here. They didn't ignore it, so they must want to do it.

Tbh I prefer it that way. It's subtle and gives just enough info to move on. I wouldn't expect them to have an all out discussion about the coming out process and then before we know it, they're crying in each other's arms instead of having hot, steamy sex

Maybe I should specify:

First time between Shep and whoever (Kaidan, Vega, whoever your mind can think of). And based on ME2 (where Shepard is straddled by Miranda and Tali) I'm thinking he might be more passive...that and the animations would probably be shared by a FemShep so...;)

I think that, in the DAverse, it's mainly because those labels probably don't exist.

I can't say if they still do in the MEverse...I would guess they would, but may not carry the same weight as they do now where sexual orientation is more of a big deal.

Again, this subject is not the purpose of this thread. Please refocus the discussion to the thread topic, or take this discussion to another thread or PM. I hope I've made myself clear this time, as further attempts to derail the thread will have to be dealt with in another way.

I also prefer it that way. I would like to think 200 years from now we're beyond "Are you a GAY HOMOSEXUAL?" and realize that everyone is at a different place on a gradient and it's not worth obsessing over labels.

Yes I do and its a reason I NEVER romance her with a male character..
Garrus and Tali romances were appeasement and I will never romance Tali
Bioware from the beginning intended to create the Asari race, they didn't appear in the middle of the series
I think its obvious Bioware intended for Shepard to be straight except for femshep
 from the beginning

You think something has to be demanded to be fanservice when that's not true. No one demanded all the LIs in DA2 be bisexual. (it was assumed they were by many people and most just wanted a choice in LIs). So...yah.

As for BW intentions. Right. They obviously intended SHepard to be straight. That's totally why they only cut the dialogue because it didn't do justice to Ash and Kaidan not because it didn't work with Shepard. Let's ignore that.

So this post isn't *completely* off topic: I really want Big Ben. No backstory, no retcons, no appeasement. I just want him tobe gay, to be open about it (not to the extent that he hits on Shepard but to have no qualms about expressing interest and attraction to other men) and to make no apologies for it.

I never said they demanded all LI's be bisexual.. Bioware can only satisfy its customers with limited resources.

Hopefully Jack is F/F romanceable. She seems the most likely to be into Femshep

Ah true. But Dude Shep wasn't passive with Liara/Ash. Though he was passive with Tali...and Miranda.

If a character is grey and "interpretable" then they are weak shallow characters.

I don't recall Ashley saying she didn't have biotics... Ashley is now a biotic in ME3.

I don't recall Wrex saying he wasn't into humans... Wrex romance for ME3!!!

Anderson never says he doesn't think Udina is a hot piece of ass... Anderson Udina secret love revealed in ME3!!!

We can butcher everything with the loigc I've seen in this thread. Nothing is sacred.

If you think characters that are "interpretable" are weak, shallow characters; then it is your own opinion. An opinion which isn't shared by everybody i.e. it is not a fact.

Straw man fallacy alert. You're creating false and unlikely scenarios and then attacking it.

Ashley not having biotic powers is a fact. So it is not open to interpretation and is so unlikely to change. As for the other two scenarios you mentioned, those are possible and the writers could actually write it into the storyline; but then it would just reflect on them as bad writers.

We can butcher everything with the logic I've seen in your posts. Nothing is sacred.

...okay then.

I'd prefer a new squaddie over any returning characters personally. That way there's no "but s/he didn't do anything before! Retcon!" to be said.
