So Sian (can I call you that?), I know you've probably stated them heaps before but for the sake of some topicicity, what are your personal hopes out of the existing cast for s/s romance? and why?

Nah, I'm old, I can deal with it.

For me personally, and mind you it's just my own idea of who makes the most sense, I think Kaidan and Miranda are the best choices from the existing squad lineup. And for similar reasons. Both Kaidan and Ashley have reserved personalities, so if anyone in the crew would hold themselves back, for whatever reason, it would be those two. And Miranda's motivations and agendas are anybody's guess, if there was ever a character who has an untold story, it's Miranda. I don't take anything she says at face value.

But that said, I think a reasonably good case could be made for any of them. I am crossing my fingers that BioWare's writers are well-versed enough on the things they got wrong in the previous games that they won't make those mistakes again.

The thing about Samara is that she actually felt the same but rejected Shepard because it would undermine her committment to the code.

I'm talking about flat-out rejection, someone who doesn't even become vaguely attracted to Shepard no matter what. Take the glorious commander down a peg from "demi-god" to fully human.

I like both your choices and reasonings and they are essentially mine too, though I think Ashley might be thrown in as well for the sake of balancing out the VS romance situation.

If it makes you feel any better I'm 20, mistaken for as high as 30, talk like I'm 50 in real life AND the Wii Fit told me i'm 80. Patriarch Auggie? xDD

The books are good, they do add to the story, but don't expect Hendel to be a big part of the story. He's really just Kahlee's most trusted friend and colleague, and he is mainly seen through her eyes. He is a badass though, and I for one would LOVE to see him and Kahlee (and Gillian) in ME3. But I don't think he'd make a good s/s LI for Shepard though, because I don't think Shepard is Hendel's type.

It'd be more a meta-game addressal of the wider community's perceptions of Shepard's (like what Cuddlezarro mentioned) apparent sexual virilty and power. That, and in-character for Aria. Naturally, there will always be perspectives and Shepards that do not comply with the generalization.

You're right, it's missing the Renegade option:

Which aside from ensuring much rebuking from Kaidan and Hendel, sets a plot flag for later on that has Kaidan confrfont Shepard once more and force him into revealing that he's a closeted homosexual masquarading as a homophobe and thus begin a relationship which the player cannot opt out of and then gives Kaidan plot-armor of immortality.

It would be epic, and I'd love it. Of course, I love all the NPCs who treat Shepard like a regular human being rather than some artificial Player Character Protagonist. And I love Samara's "how about no" moment.

I quite liked Aria and Samara(though shes dead in my canon playthrough) despite my hate for the asari as a race in general

Mordin does if you're not in a romance and you pester him enough. He just assumes you're into him, and shuts you down pre-emptively. Sure, he says if he were gonna try human, he'd try you, but I'm not sure he was entirely sincere on that point....

Haha I had to watch that in Bio class. I dunno which one you guys saw, but the one we saw definitely could have been worse. When things go wrong with the position of the baby or the "size" of the woman, things go from kinda gross to absolutely grotesque.

It would be interesting if Hendel appeared in ME3 and revealed "something" about Kaidan though, considering they've knew each other since they were teenagers

Hendel: "So Kaidan, is this is Shepard?"
Kaidan: "Uhh...yeah Hendel this is..."
Shepard: "I'm Commander Shepard, you're Hendel Mitra, right?"
Hendel: "Yeah, I know who you are Shepard. You've got some impressive bullet points on your resume. And some not-so-impressive ones. None of that matters though, as long as you're treating Kaidan right."
Shepard: "I, uh, don't know what you mean."
Hendel: "Oh, I'm sorry, I assumed you two were together. My mistake. Say Kaidan, does this mean you have time for an old flame? I'm not as young as I used to be, but let's face it, we were always great together."
Kaidan: "I don't know, am I Shepard?"
Shepard: "Wait, what?"
Kaidan: "Am I single? Should I stop waiting for Clueless Commander Shepard to see what's right in front of him, or should I move on?"

Actually, funnily enough, I wouldn't be surprised if Aria did encourage something herself between she and Shep....not from a romantic...in love...perspective, but purely as a political move.

That exchange maybe could have happened in the first game, but after he got all saucy on Horizon? Not a chance.

Trying to be clever like that is just going to get him punched in the face.

They got issues to work through before he can run a smart mouth and expect to get away with it IMO.

And I would support that.  I would gladly get with Aria as a political move for Omega (and beyond).  She would learn to love me with time and my delightful roguish ways.
