Here's how I'd word it:

Hendel: "So Kaidan, is this is Shepard?"
Kaidan: "Uhh...yeah Hendel this is..."
Shepard: "I'm Commander Shepard, you're Hendel Mitra, right?"
Hendel: "Yeah, I know who you are Shepard. You've got some impressive bullet points on your resume. And some not-so-impressive ones. None of that matters though, as long as you're treating Kaidan right."
Shepard: "I, uh, don't know what you mean."
Hendel: "Oh, I'm sorry, I assumed you two were together. My mistake. Say Kaidan, does this mean you have time for an old flame? I'm not as young as I used to be, but let's face it, we were always great together."
Kaidan: "I don't know, am I Shepard?"
Shepard: "Wait, what?"
Kaidan: "Am I single? Should I stop waiting for Clueless Commander Shepard to see what's right in front of him, or should I move on?"

Shepard Dialogue wheel:
1."Sorry Hendel, he's mine."
2."Can we table this for now? I need to wrap my head around some things."
3. "You two knock yourselves out. Not literally of course, I know how biotics are."

I like it except for the bolded bits, seems a little off for some reason, though mind you, I haven't read the books so I don't have a full feel for all the elements in this scenario.

@Ryzaki: There are several hands that need breaking, Shiala, Parasini, Aria's attempt at setting us up oh and the consort!

@Golden Owl: Now that's an interesting thought, but I'd never want to see it develop beyond political.

Haha I had to watch that in Bio class. I dunno which one you guys saw, but the one we saw definitely could have been worse. When things go wrong with the position of the baby or the "size" of the woman, things go from kinda gross to absolutely grotesque.

...yeah that sounds bad.

That exchange maybe could have happened in the first game, but after he got all saucy on Horizon? Not a chance.

Trying to be clever like that is just going to get him punched in the face.

They got issues to work through before he can run a smart mouth and expect to get away with it IMO.

Agreed.

He says something like that and my Shep's liable to arch a brow before dragging Hendal off. Only reason he won't insult Kaidan is because he doesn't want to risk ruining Hendel's mood.

I'm talking about flat-out rejection, someone who doesn't even become vaguely attracted to Shepard no matter what. Take the glorious commander down a peg from "demi-god" to fully human.

Mordin does if you're not in a romance and you pester him enough. He just assumes you're into him, and shuts you down pre-emptively. Sure, he says if he were gonna try human, he'd try you, but I'm not sure he was entirely sincere on that point....

The confusion with Mordin is hilarious...my Shep is single and always talks to his squaddies, so always gets Mordin thinking Sheps into him...the first time I heard it I was gob smacked...then cracked up...:o....I love that conversation....:D....I didn't know he said that about humans though...my Shep always goes for the..."Your just yanking me around" and then 'Goodbye".

I especially love the bit about lower eye-lid movements being quite racy by Salarian standards.

We just got the "sex will ruin your life but use condoms if you really have to." speech. Along with a video of a woman giving birth.  Now that (the vid no the "SEX IS BAD IF YOUR UNDERAGE!" is what turned me off sex near permanently.

my sex ed class had to watch that video...I played my gameboy behind a book

I grew up in a state where sex ed was all but forbidden to talk about in school. In biology class, we were assigned to male/female pairs and given a raw egg with the teacher's signature. if the egg broke, we failed the class. that was all they cared to teach us. no talk about condoms, pregnancy or STI's or anything. they never mentioned sex in high school at all and certainly nothing about sexuality. this was in the early 2000's but it's probably the same way now.

I really couldn't imagine it moving beyond that...it would be a dangerous weakness on Arias behalf.

I'm really gonna have to save and explore that dialog with Mordin further...sounds like I'm just getting the quick boring version...the rest sounds really hilarious...:o...obviously reload after that, would hate to take Shep into ME3 with Mordin possibly considering him...

Yeah, if you pick the option where Shep says "I appreciate you letting me down easy", Mordin will say "No offense intended. Salarian reproduction different. Very little sex drive. If intended to try human, would try you."  You get the impression that he's just trying to be nice because he honestly thinks you're disappointed.

That's a weird one. If you pick the "wait you're sh!tting me" option, his "I am so shocked you'd even say that, Shepard!" kind of seems teasing, like he really was intentionally messing with you. Schrodinger's sincerity?

Oh, Mordin's definitely bisexual. I almost fainted when Mordin said to my gayShep, "If intended to try human... would try you."

I think they've just went for realism for once. Seriously, female humans are just as alien to other races as male humans are

Ours was good - sex ed videos, wide varieties of condoms, lots of bananas, games where you had to put on gloves and eat as much chocolate as possible in the time limit, and, best of all, no birth videos :)

You underestimate my charm and lack of motivation.  I would be no threat to her dominance since I don't care about ruling...just the executing.  She would just gain a powerful enforcer who the entire galaxy owes its existence to.  Proximity and my charming nature would win her over in time.  If not, I would still stay her enforcer.

I like Aria too.

Mostly because in both games we keep hearing about these supposedly kick ass Asari and we never really see them outside of our squaddies.

Dunno if Aria does have that skill but she certainly has the attitude lol.

Her writing is excellent.

Though I was a tad miffed by the "find yourself a nice girl/man" line. How insensitive :P

I don't think Aria really gives a damn how insensitive she is. And that's whats great about her character. Try to tell her she's being insensitive.

(wow this fell to the second page  )

She was pretty kick ass in the Incursion mini comic and we'll see a lot more of her in the Invasion comic that's coming out in the fall.

Or human gender dynamics don't interest her and she knows only the basics. After all, asari have no real concept of gender, since they are a single-sex species. So even though there are numerous dual-sex species throughout the galaxy, I can't imagine she could be bothered to remember the niceties of gender relations amongst all of those species. She probably heard somewhere that humans tend to have romantic interest in the opposite sex more often than not, and she went with that. Aria's not the type to investigate the sexual preference of some random human that shows up on Omega, she'll assume they're like most of the other humans she's heard about, and simply not care if she got that minor detail about them wrong. Aria is not impressed by Shepard, she suffers Shepard's presence because it suits her purpose, but she is much more concerned about things that affect her directly.

Basically what I'm saying is that not everything in the game is an egregious case of willful and malicious heteronormativity. Some people just don't think about it that much. ;)
