Just thank your lucky stars you weren't born a female..you'd have to deal with that kind of thing a lot more.

True dat. Folks need to walk a mile in my strappy heels sometime. ;)

In my experience though, most guys who worry that they're being checked out by other dudes have nothing to worry about. Unless you're an underwear model or something, chances are nobody is lusting after your dangly bits, male or female. Rejoice, Average Joe! :wizard:

That being said, I see no issue with a player in a game initiating whatever interaction they choose with whomever they choose. Its your game, play it how you want to. It's here for all of us to enjoy how we desire.

I just don't want to walk up to Garrus (or any other male) and have them hit on me. That would make me uncomfortable - just like any straight guy would feel if he noticed some dude staring at his package. Trust me - thats a flag on the play. Time out. And back the hell up.

I do not think that it will be too hard for Bioware to make it so that everyone can enjoy the game without being offended. Just color the interactions (like renegade/paragon options) so that you know that this path of convo goes in this or that direction.

I don't think it's unreasonable to be put off by getting hit on by someone you have no interest in, but it works both ways.  Speaking from an in-game perspective, there are going to be women who don't want to get hit on by men, men who don't want to get hit on by women, etc.  The only way to get around this is to have all romances be player-initiated, which is definitely a safe route, but I think it subtracts from the narration a bit.  Some characters are the type who openly hit on others (Isabela, Anders, Liara, Shiala, etc.).  Forcing them to stonewall you unless you explicitly declare your interest first feels false and inorganic.  The problem that I had with Anders hitting on an un-interested Hawke wasn't that I had to reject him and that he liked me less for it, it was that there wasn't a "nice" way of turning him down.  I'd rather have characters declare their interest (so long as it's in-character) and have the ability to gently turn them down rather than bite their head off.

You don't always get a "nice" option in real life, either. Some people are just not going to be happy when you say "thanks but no thanks". Anders is a wackadoodle, he's a freakin' abomination. I'm not surprised he stalks away in a huff when you give him the brush-off. If he were to suddenly become Sane Reasonable Guy in that scenario, that would be out of character.

Very true. Women have been dealing with men hitting on them a lot longer and more often than men dealing with gay men hitting on them.

Not saying Tonymac flirts with women all the time -- but just know that women deal with it more often.

Gay men usually don't hit on straight men. We know they're straight and it's incredibly uncomfortable. The fact that you actually had a gay guy hit on you is very rare.

That is odd because it has happened to me a lot. But even as a straight male I am not offended if some guy hits on me. On the contrary it's kind of flattering that even some guys wants me.

Ohh you're one of the Straight Male Gamers™? I feel bad for intelligent straight male gamers, the ones like you give them bad name.

I got the feeling that most of us Straight Male Gamers realy don't care much about about optional ss content.

Women get hit on by guys all the time and we have to deal with it. In my case many of the men are much taller and outweigh me by a hundred pounds. Plus I am straight so when I am in a bar there is a chance that the guy I do not want has a group of his friends with him.

I doubt seriously that any of the straight guys who complain about being flirted with my gay guys can claim a similar situation unless they like hanging out in gay bars and even then I doubt the gays would be so threatening.

And to those who complain that Anders was not realistic obviously has not had a guy or his group call you a "b****," "h*" or a "s***" before storming off.

When exactly are you going to bars without your BF in tow?

Off Topic:  Isn't it funny that we get called those names when turning down sex?  I'll never understand it.

On Topic:  I would really like to see Alenko/Williams as S/S love interests for Shepard.  If Bioware does that, I guarantee that I will buy any game they release for the rest of my life.  Heck, I'll name my first born child after Shepard if they do that (middle name, you understand, first name has to be after Batman).  Wayne Shepard Treadwell.  Has a nice ring to it.

Make it happen, Bioware.

Um, to keep us on topic, I wonder if the Alliance will give Shepard that bar s/he wanted in the Normandy. It could be a good place to make your first move on the s/s options. You may argue that it's awkward, but not more so than the middle of a battle zone or a deserted cargo bay.

Duh. :kissing:

But it all started many moons ago, with a dark ritual in a secluded forest, a druid sect gathered to bind a spirit to the mortal realm, and lo, the circle closed and well, here I am! :wizard:

It was Wilson's other Cerberus medical project along with Lazarus. We're still not sure how much the Shadow Broker knew.

Garrus LOVES boobs by the way. That is why he will not be interested in s/s with Shepard until he is middle aged.

Akward could be a good idea actualy. For example Shepard and the unvirmired squadmate from ME1 getting drunk enough to admit that they both did like eachother back in ME1 but didn't dare to say it out loud. This scenario could work for m/f romancing too wich means more content for less work for the writers and and programmers.

Remember when Ashley said Shepard could tell her to kiss a Turian? I wonder if she will follow that order in ME3 and initiate a threesome with Garrus.

Seriously though I like the bar idea or at least make use of the mess hall to be kind of like the Hanged Man from DA2 with lots of party cut scenes. I am curious if Bioware will allow Shepard to show PDA in s/s or m/f relationships?

Then do not have one. I am sure the same gender crew mates will survive the let down.

I must have played a different DA2, because at the point where I had to turn him down, Anders was only partially wackadoodle, and the only responses available to his moderate come-on were "I don't want you thinking of me like that!" and something else that I don't remember.  It felt harsher than it needed to be, given how the rest of the dialogue went.
