Hey, there's Hawke too. That's FIVE.

My Hawkes are all gay so I don't count him/her

Agreed.  But then isn't 1 gay person plus four bisexuals even more unbelievable?

Very nice. What's the scene from 3:20 to 3:28? I somehow fail to remember that...

To ask an alien of another species to differentiate between gender is irrelevant. Most likely to them, a female and male take no preference over one another due to species differences and it all comes down to personality and preference. You're thinking too human. To Garrus, male and female humans might actually seem identical to him. The only difference is that females have those "funny bumps." He wants Shepard because he wants someone he can trust and their relationship is based on that. He feels this same connection to male Shepard and so a same sex romance is possible. Another viewpoint may suggest that just because he prefers turian women doesn't mean he won't go for a human male. There are too many special variables to attone for and it merely comes down to what Garrus prefers. If same sex is available and he prefers human women, so be it. If he prefers turian women and will go for male or female humans that is possible. Or he may also vibe toward male turians as well as female turians AND both genders of the human species. Interspecies romances are hard to pinpoint because there's nothing in our society that comes close to it so it's hard to judge based on experience of preference. Besides, there were no implications toward a budding romance between Garrus and female Shepard in the first game, the exclusion of same sex romance in ME2 could have been the only variable keeping him from being a dual sex option. If he can romance a human, then gender is a little less of a turning point in his "sexuality". This is coming from someone who wouldn't mind either way and is truthfully looking forward to Kasumi  but that's a whole 'nother give and take.

you're saying aliens are too dumb and blind to notice obvious differences between average male and female human behavior? :?

sure they can master spaceflight, but noticing differences between genders, man! thats impossible!

Not exactly. It doesn't stem from intelligence. They're a different species, it's nothing to do with how advanced one is with space flight. We've used fossil fuels and achieved space flight, yet we cannot tell the difference between a male sheltie and a female sheltie without looking at their dog parts. Anyway that's my take on it. I was quite fulfilled emotionally by the alien romances. But regardless I'm just happy that same sex romances are being equally added to the game! Kudos.

I just wonder how they are going to handle romances this time around when so many characters aren't permanent squad members. Especially considering that Jack is definately a prime contender for a gay romance. I hear her appearance will be much more mature this time around! I wouldn't mind Kasumi or Miranda as bisexual options. It's very exciting to speculate.

Thanks bud.  Hopefully we'll get to the continuation of the romance, and this time without mods.

DA2's romance system is the most effecient.  From a cost perspective and to satisfy the greatest number of gamers, it makes sense to make all LIs available to the player.  In real life, you have more than 4 people to choose from, no matter what your orientation is.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not against DA2's romance system, i just don't support it, and i think there should be 2 s/s romances for each gender. Is it fair? no, but there was exclusively straight characters and no exclusively gay ones in ME and ME2 and that wasn't fair either, but honestly if they will actually decide to make everyone bi(which i doubt) i won't really have a problem with it, in my opinion "everyone is bi" is better than "everyone is straight" anyway, so i'm not complaining.

But it's not even "everyone is bi"! LOL

Fenris does not mention any experiences with men, not even to SerHawke

Merrill doesn't mention anything about her love life, at all.

Anders only mentions Karl if you play male Hawke

Isabela is the only known bisexual (we've known this since origins)

Each playthrough is unique and so is each Hawke. Whatever happens in someone else's game with a Hawke of the opposite gender does not affect one's playthrough. I know this "subjective" sexuality can be sort of confusing but all it comes down to is, if the companion has not indicated what their sexuality is or talked about relationships with individuals of the same sex, assume what you are most comfortable with (they are straight, bi, or gay/lesbian). It's an rpg for Maker's sake! If no info is given, then role-play it as whatever you want.

It is the most resource-efficient system and everyone has the same chance or romancing the companion they like the most. ^_^

Yes, i understand this, i regret my poor choice of words. Let me re-write it
"LIs being available to both sexes" is better than "LIs being available exclusively to the opposite sex".

I agree with that, besides, all bi LIs doesn't necessarily mean all bi characters, thus in DA2 I only played as mage mHake and fHawke and non-mages Hawkes don't even exist in my games, so depending on what I did in my playthroughs Anders and Isabella characters were bi, Fenris gay and Aveline, Varric and Merrill were straight (leaving aside Caver who's also straight althougth IMO, he's hetero-flexible, since it seemed to me he had a little thing for fenris... maybe elf fetish?).

That was great about DA2. Also the way they handled the dialog weel, I loved snarky Hawke and the way you could change your tone without fearing it would change your alineation. I wish they did something like that in future ME games.

PS: Hope Kaidan is an s/s LI!! to be honest, I don't care about anyone else (maybe Joker though...), my bi mshep would totally dump Miranda's perfect ass and boobs for him lol.

Just read the complaints about previous squad mates here in this thread. Even if the s/s critic has the option to be "bros" with Garrus, the knowledge that somewhere out there other players have a male Shepard engaging in sexual activites with THEIR version of Garrus is enough to ruin his game. His ability to enjoy HIS Garrus is somehow dependant on the s/s players being denied THEIR Garrus.

Then there is the worry that a male character may hit on the male Shepard. Female characters can hit on Shepard with no problem, and male AND female characters can hit on female Shepard, of course. Male on male, however, ruins immersion and reduces grown men to tears.

DA2 had the audacity to violate both of these "man laws."

Yeah, THAT'S what DA2 REALLY needed; a hot, angry rivalry romance between Carter and Fenris. The two of them battling all night long with their oversized TWO-HANDED (!) swords...!

I'm sure Isabela would insist on being the referee.

You do realize that Kaidan has a far more perfect ass than Miranda does, however I'm still fearful MaleShep won't get a chance to chase that tail and we'll be stuck with only Vega (and celibacy).
I do realize this is strictly my opinion but Kaidan's the most gorgeous character in the whole ME franchise and I'd be very happy if MShep does get him as an option, but I'm still afraid Bioware will "listen" to a certain portion of the fanbase (particularly the Talimancers who want no further retcons to "straight" male characters) on this one and use that as an excuse to deny us Kaidan once again.

Kaidan has a nice ass for sure but MY male Shepard is going to be turning that boy around and give him a proper inspection!

I'd suspect some have issues with sharing 'their LI' with the opposite gender and when there are no 'straight' PCs, you have to do this no matter who you choose.  I've seen some say they picked Morrigan as an LI in DA:O because she was hetero exclusive.

Perhaps others feel the straight PC is entitled to more options by some magical right and the gay PC should only have their one token bisexual option that they then have to share with the straight PC.   In most cultures, straight people just have more rights than gays so I think this bias gets carried over to this issue.  Which is one of the reasons I loved the system...it's not only about having more options as a lesbian woman who likes to roleplay lesbian PCs...but its an issue of social equality as well (even though BW didn't intend it, I'd imagine).

...then there's the issue of men hitting on Male PCs that was brought up buy Abispa.

I have to agree with this. Sure Isabela hit on the player...but she's one female.

Where's Zevran, Anders, Brothel elf are all males who hit on the player.

Except that's not what he's saying. He's talking about people who openly hit on Hawke. And far more males do that then females. (Frankly *I* got annoyed at the imbalance).

Both Isabela and Anders hit on the PC first. Fenris has a roundabout flirt and Merrill has that ooh hawke naked! gigglecomment.
