I am a chistian and I am a democrate (moderate)
i do not approve of same sex
But i do not stand in the way of it, its too much of a boondogal to try
But i am asking to not allow it in this game not for social issues, but political
If this is allowed in this video game and with the political state of the US, it will be banned
GTA: SA was almost banned, be cause of the sex scean in it
ME1 was honded and nearly pummuled to death, in politics because of the romace with laira
Leave it out of the story just for the fact that that we can finish the story, and not have it banned or givin the dreaded AO rating
we have a baby is congress (tea party "purest") and it already does not like the Articoke and asparigus baby food, we are feeding it
Don't shove it down when its already crying
all i wanted to say, thank you
Again i do not approve of same sex but,
i will not stand in its way, because it is too much of a boondagal to try

it wasnt the fact taht they were straight, its that there was too many options.Arik7 wrote...
Now you're getting it. ME2 had 10+ companion with 3 conversations each.... Why waste resourses on 3 different sexualities when you can concetrate on the characters' personality and dialog instead?
its not wasting resources if it feels more natural and adds more realism to the intereactions with the characters.
dont twist my words around to make it seem like im saying osmething im not.
it was too many characters, that was the issue, not the orientations.
everyone being bi and hitting on hawke broke immersion for me. and no i dont think the DA2 romances were better written as i never felt any connection with any of the characters. i could objectively see that they put effort into it, but i didnt particularly care for any of it. i settled for merril because, well i didnt care for anyone and she was the least unappealing lol
hell the two characters i liked the most and felt hawke was the closest with was aveline and varric.
i was simply acknowledging the more effort and other character acceptance of the romance. not the quality.

I disagree with the part of your post that says a person's sexuality is a huge part of their personality. It is if the person chooses for it to be. Reading the entirety of your post, it looks like you disagree with that part of your post as well. :happy:DudesterMcGillicutty wrote...
I feel like it would be a bit of a cop-out if all the characters were made so that they could be ****** or hetero. It weakens the characters. It leaves them undefined until we, the player, chooses to define them.
I've got to agree with Twizz here, a person's sexuality is a huge part of their personality. Though, I think he didn't phrase it the best way. The physical property (the gene or nucleotide base or whatever) that determines your sexuality does not affect your personality. However, the fact that you are straight or gay plays a huge role in how both you react to people and how people react to you. People create their outward personas based on how people react to them.
So, it just seems like just plain bad writing to have a character that can be chosen to be either straight or gay. The character would be completely different in each of those circumstances.

how is my suggestion all that different? 6 LI's with more specific and realistic backrounds. i mean the whole EVERYONE HTIS ON HAWKE thing was really annoying.
It's a good thing they didn't all hit on Hawke.
Your suggestion is different b/c limits are still being placed on gender/limits romance possibilities with potential LIs. I thought we agreed that this isn't necessary in order to have good romances (you just need less).
Clonedzero wrote...
what is wrong with characters not all being bi? why cant one be straight and one be gay? its more realistic. adds more depth to their characters and doesnt give off that "this is obvious lazy writing" vibe. them all being bi sorta takes away from the uniqueness of each character and adds a bad impression that your character is some sort of irresistable superhuman.
...and...back to square one. Having gays/straights does not make the romances more 'realistic' or add 'depth'...see the DA2/ME2 comparison again.
The 'bi' thing doesn't give me that impression anymore than a bunch of dudes wanting my Female Shepard in ME2. It's not like the PC can romance everyone...just a set amount of LIs. If the PC could sex up the entire crew and the majority of NPCs around the game world, then you'd have a point..instead you don't and are just using hyperbole.
Clonedzero wrote...
if you want every character to be romancable and everything tobe decided by you, thenw hy not just write your own fanfiction?
Now comes the strawman...I don't want every character to be romanceable...I want the few that are chosen for romance to be available to both genders...to all classes, races, etc. I want the PC to be able to choose from amongst them but not with everyone in the game.
Clonedzero wrote...
since obviously you dont want to give the writers the freedom to write the characters the way they see them and instead want them to be made acceptable to be romanced by everyone. it feels forced.
They do write these characters in the way they want. These games aren't dating sims in that the character is all about their romance subplot...it constitutes a minor portion of the character's overall story (if they are romanceable at all). When talking about romances though, the writers of these do not take anything into account when considering who can romance character X and who can't....I keep saying it...not race, class, background, history with the LI, etc why should they only do it with gender?

No it won't. Dragon Age, Fable, The Sims, Bully, The Witcher (no gay romances but explict sex scenes for video game standards) and countless other games were not banned nor was their rating changed. The only reason San Andreas had its rating changed was because the Hot Coffe content was not reviewed by ESRB when Rockstar shipped the game for rating approval prior the release since it was inaccesible without mods/hacking. EA/BioWare will not be developing any sex minigame or any explict sex scenes in the first place, therefore it will never get AO rating, not matter if someone protests.P38 ace wrote...

i remember.
"ok isabella hit on me, that makes sense"
"uh, anders hit on me, uh ok whatever"
"merril hits on me, hmmm, alrighty"

The presence of same sex relationships in video games and throughout the media is good for everybody. I didnt want to bring religion into this discussion but you have opened that door. There are more mentions in the bible that preach acceptance, then lines that preach the disaproval of same sex. I do wonder however as to where you are coming up with your belief that it would be banned?

Faux News has no credibility. None.
The "tea party" is a minority in Congress and not even the other Republicans want to associate too much with such extremists. Plus congress is taking more than enough political heat with the economy/jobs/unrest abroad and I doubt they'll waste time writing legislation to regulate video games and such.

i didnt find any of the DA2 romances compelling AT ALL.
i found every single character wanting mine to be immersion breaking. it felt like i was playing some juivinal fantasy where i can pick whoever iw ant to go to the other room with. it was bland, took all the interest out of it for me when it stopped being a story and turned into a matchmaker service. it broke immersion for me and pulled me out of the story when it was "LI1 LI2 LI3 LI4, all available to you now, make your pick". it didnt feel natural at all.
its not realistic. you;re saying its not a dating sim, but then demanding to be able to date any of the characters? what?!
romance subplots should only exist if they make sense with that character. they shouldnt be "hey look we have a wide range of makes and models for you to try out, feel free to have a go at any of them!"

A dating simulator would be a game solely focused on dating, would it not? Fans of s/s romance just want more options added to their Commander Shepard's experience. The dating simulator argument is getting as old as the whole "established characters" argument.Clonedzero wrote...

Agreed, besides, humans are not as simple as "being set in stone" anyway. Many people go through some period of self-discovery and realize who they truly are. Why not reflect that in games as well.

DA:O: about 25% of the team wanted to sleep with your warden.
ME1: about 33% of the team wanted to sleep with shepard.
ME2: about 25% of the team wanted to sleep with shepard
DA2: about 66% of the team wanted to sleep with hawke.
anything above 50% seems like way too much to me. hell above 40% would be too much.
