not of him. but of shepard and garrus' brotherly relationship.

nothing messes up a friendship faster than one person expressing feelings and the other not accepting them.

Knowing every gay relationship in all Bioware games ever, if your male Shepard doesn't feell "that way" about Garrus, even the Renegade option to reject him will be, "Sorry, but I don't swing that way." And Garrus will say, "It's cool, no hard feelings."

And then everyone will move on with their lives. The friendship will not be "ruined," just as my relationship with Tali wasn't "ruined" after I explained that I didn't feel "that way" about her.

If you want to consider the friendship "ruined," that's your deal. But I promise that Garrus will not hold it against you, or refuse to be your "bro" after you reject him.

you missed the point.
my perception of their war buddy friendship will be tarnished. just because theres no one getting mad or grudges being held doesnt mean things dont get awkward.

it makes it seem that their friendship wasn't about being great friends, but of garrus getting close to shepard because he had feelings for him. it makes the entire thing awkward and uncomfortable.

or of course, you can make it as immersion breaking and unrealistic as everyone pretending it never happened, but again, thats completely immersion breaking and unrealistic. its like flashing huge words accross the screen saying "HEY THIS IS A VIDEO GAME REMEMBER? WE RESET THE CHARACTERS FRIEND CUS OF YOUR DIALOGUE CHOICE!" thats just bad writing.

What.

WHAT.

A guy can't look you in the eye without being gay?

im totally gonna take what he said out of context and try to make him look bad.

you knew exactly what he meant. if someone sits accross from you, gazes deeply into your eyes, and says somethign that on its own is innocent but with a suggestive tone in their voice. yeah, its safe to assume they're coming onto you.

Clearly if you had to reject him that would mean he was flirting.

Um, no.

John: "Hey Jake. I've got tickets to the Wings game Friday, wanna come?"
Jake: "HOLY SH!T DUDE ARE YOU ASKING ME OUT NO ****** BRO I AIN'T INTO THAT KIND OF THING"
John: ".... ooo-kay. I'll just see if I can convince my wife, then." :?

so is everyone on this whole, obviously taking everything everyones saying way out of context to try and make them look bad?

all he was saying was that his dialogue option that had hawke romantically turn him down supports his statement that fenris was hitting on him.

but yeah, go to the extreme to attempt o make him look bad. thats real mature.

Ok dude, even I am getting tired of this now. FemShep practically forced Garrus into the relationship and he even flat out admits he's not into her sexually and is doing it all out of 'respect blah blah because you want it blah blah'. So what in the world makes you think bisexual Garrus would be any different towards ManShep?

Have the PC initiate romance.  Like in most instances with DA2...not counting Fenris and Merrill out of paranoia.  If the knowledge that so and so is romanceable from a meta-perspective is 'ruining your immersion' then you aren't very immersed anyway.

I didnt even know that Fenris could be romanceable by males until after he came on to me, so no it was not paranoia.  Also Anders clearly comes on to the player then has a fit and becomes your rival if you reject him.  I dont want this to happened to characters I have already invisioned as straight.  I dont want the normandy to be a big coming out party if I am to nice, this takes away the great "choice" that alot of people in this thread are crying that they want.

Also what do you mean by "Have the PC initiate romance. Like in most instances with DA2...not counting Fenris and Merrill out of paranoia"  If you dont count Fenris and Merril that leaves Isabella and Anders? lol, meaning that the PC initiated none of the romances

I was sort of under the impression that when two people conversed with each other whilst in the same room with furniture, it was fairly common for them to sit opposite one another look in their general direction. Apparently not.

It's poor support, considering people misread intentions all the time and Fenris even acknowledges this afterwards.

Oh boy.

That qqing about 5 - 15 rivalry points again.

I got 25 points for recruiting Fenris and being a mage.

QQ Moar.

FYI: You need a 100 points in rivalry for Anders to be locked in as a rival. So no he wasn't your rival in that scenario.  You can drag him rond and max out his friendship bar even after rejecting him.

So stop making sh*t up.

As for Fenris. Yes it is so difficult to choose the middle option and keep the conversation moving. Oh noes.

My male Warden felt violated when both Morrigan and Leliana hit on him. It wasn't possible for him to reject them and move it along.

Oh wait-

Did you ever bother picking the flirt option? He's taken back at Hawke hitting on him.

Oh my does that mean it wasn't exactly a come on? :o No wai!

You can't use Fenris in your argument as his 'flirting' isn't objective...I disagree that he was flirting (and many others do as well).  Anders clearly does in one specific case.  And you get rival for it...you get rival for all kinds of stuff...that's the way it goes.

Yes, yes yes. I don't want everyone to hit on the PC either.

'Player initiating romance' means that the LI doesn't do anything flirty until the PC does first.

Awkward for you, maybe. Garrus won't care or act any differently... but that's probably because he's capable of acting like an adult. If you can't look at him the same way again after he reveals that he *GASP* ISN'T STRAIGHT,  that's your deal.

Was your relationship with Tali forever "tarnished" after she revealed her feelings for male Shepard? Or was is "cute"?

it makes it seem that their friendship wasn't about being great friends, but of garrus getting close to shepard because he had feelings for him. it makes the entire thing awkward and uncomfortable.

No, it makes your epic friendship still an epic friendship, just like Garrus and female Shepard. When female Shepard says, "Hey, do you suppose we could be more?" Garrus answers, "Why yes, we're such close and epic friends that I suppose we could."

If Garrus says as much to male Shepard, just supposes if the two of you could ever "be more than friends" because he knows you really well and he happens to appreciate sex with males, I won't consider his friendship with male Shepard "altered." Garrus isn't friends with Shepard because he wants to be Shepard's lover, Garrus wants to be Shepard's lover because he's Shepard's friend.

you can make it as immersion breaking and unrealistic as everyone pretending it never happened, but again, thats completely immersion breaking and unrealistic.

Pfffft, that's right. I always forget about "immersion" and how precious it is when considering not-heterosexualities. As if eight heterosexual-only love-interests over the course of the seires wasn't "immerision breaking." As if forcing my gay male Shepard to imply heterosexuality on a constant basis wasn't "immersion breaking." Okay, yeah, when the big bad bisexuals break your IMMERSION, I'll play you a sad song on the world's smallest violin.

Which wasnt the case in DA2, and it should be 100% of the time when dealing with characters like Garrus and Kaiden

Oh, good grief. There's a minor variation on how he pronounces "capable". It's not exactly smouldering with innuendo.

[edit] Heh. Which isn't even there in his line for male Hawkes, only for female ones. What an amusing discovery.

He was not being suggestive. You're reading into one line way too much.

You know, it really sounds like you want that line to be Fenris hitting on you. Just sayin'.

Oh god this is hilarious

so according to you if Hawke rejects him he wasn't expecting it and backpedalls...but if Hawke responds positively...he's shocked? (surprised would be a better term for it).

Riiight. That makes sense.

Also if Hawke keeps the conversation moving he has no sad expression at all.

Really the logic fail in this...

Also this is the scene in question.

Fenris has a sexy growl. You probably confused that with a come hither voice.

yes it was absolutely ruined her for me actually. i saw her as shepards "little sister" type character. i found her being interesting shepard and allt he hero worship she does very very creepy and uncomfortable. she's now one of my least favorite characters due to that actually.

also, you're awfully hostile. chill out alittle. no ones personally attacking you or anything. so relax.

This. ...except I still haven't forgiven the end of DA:O for hinging on HETEROSEXUAL SEX.

Morrigan: "Lie with tonight and your life shall be spared!"

ManWarden: "....you think I would agree to this?!" (actual in-game response that I took to mean "UM. I'M GAY.")

Morrigan: "Why? BECAUSE OF ZEVRAN?"

MaleWarden: "No, because of your vagina." (a response I wish was in-game.)

....so yeah, to everyone who complains about bisexuals HITTING ON THEM and RUINING THEIR GAMING EXPERIENCE FOREVER, I say no. Just... no.

and yeah, i was actually trying to find that scene on youtube, all i could find was damn music video tributes lol.

but ill admit, its much tamer than i remember it being. its been like a year since i played it lol
