not of him. but of shepard and garrus' brotherly relationship.
nothing messes up a friendship faster than one person expressing feelings and the other not accepting them.
Knowing every gay relationship in all Bioware games ever, if your male Shepard doesn't feell "that way" about Garrus, even the Renegade option to reject him will be, "Sorry, but I don't swing that way." And Garrus will say, "It's cool, no hard feelings."
And then everyone will move on with their lives. The friendship will not be "ruined," just as my relationship with Tali wasn't "ruined" after I explained that I didn't feel "that way" about her.
If you want to consider the friendship "ruined," that's your deal. But I promise that Garrus will not hold it against you, or refuse to be your "bro" after you reject him.
my perception of their war buddy friendship will be tarnished. just because theres no one getting mad or grudges being held doesnt mean things dont get awkward.
it makes it seem that their friendship wasn't about being great friends, but of garrus getting close to shepard because he had feelings for him. it makes the entire thing awkward and uncomfortable.
or of course, you can make it as immersion breaking and unrealistic as everyone pretending it never happened, but again, thats completely immersion breaking and unrealistic. its like flashing huge words accross the screen saying "HEY THIS IS A VIDEO GAME REMEMBER? WE RESET THE CHARACTERS FRIEND CUS OF YOUR DIALOGUE CHOICE!" thats just bad writing.
