It was in DA2 for some of them.  It was also like that in ME2 for some of them.

I agree, it should be like that for Garrus and Kaidan...damn I don't want them mackin' on my FemShep either.

*actually, I don't care and will just turn them down and move on with my life...just making a point*

They should do the player initated thing for all romances, IMO.  The LI can still be flirty and aggressive (if that suits their character) but not after the PC has triggered interest in some way.

well you cant get pregnant with without hetrosexual sex, well at least not in a fantasy setting and the whole spell kinda required that, and didnt they give you an out of volenteering alistair or was that only for female wardens?

Really? I found at least 15 different vids of it. 

It's not overly flirty to me at all. Fenris' VA just happens to be the type that sounds sexy and come hither with pretty much everyone he says.  Every convo with him has that same low drawl. Mmmhmmm. <3

Let's not forget that Fenris social skills suck. And he does seem pleasantly surprised to me. He certainly seemed confused at M!Hawke's rejection and doesn't bat an eye at M!Hawke moving the conversation along.

I'm guessing he was trying to flatter Hawke...just...badly. Not necessarily flirt with him/her.

I might be wrong though *shrugs* I've apparently sent out wrong singals myself when I was just trying to be nice. It's pretty common when someone's not used to giving compliments.

You talk about realism (not everyone bi etc.), yet at the same time you're so against anyone (of any orienation) delaying the reveal of his/her feelings to Shep. How is that realistic? People do it in real life all the time. In this case you want to put completly personal preferences before realism.

Heh, quite. I feel you ought to have been able to bring it up with him later at the end-game ceremony, in the event he left the party after the Landsmeet.

Ugh, this. Just, Alistair's face (and his voice acting, OMG) as he goes "WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?" made me hate myself, but... I just couldn't take that bullet! I really wish there was an option to say, "HEY MAN AT LEAST YOU LIKE VAGINAS" but, alas, gay manWarden can't bring up his sexuality at all when faced with that choice. ...or ever, except to his gay lover.

Hey, that's another thing! Why can the Warden and Hawke and femShep (when speaking to Liara) say, "Sorry, I don't swing that way" when confronted with a homosexual romance, but not when confronted with a straight romance? I've never really thought about that before... Huh.

well it was also the fact her romance feels utterly forced fanservice and makes absolutely no sense in context of the games lore. and that her character was dramatically changed from ME1 to ME2. (going from a smart, independant confidant if quirky girl, to an overly shy, naive girl who lost all her confidance and need shepard to swoop in and solve all her problems.) 

but yeah, retcons are realistic right? or wait? id unno, now im confused

Man, if there's one thing DA:O was missing for me, it was an opportunity to get Alistair laid by someone he doesn't loathe. My Cousland was given the option to mercilessly tease him about his virginity, which she totally would, but she sadly wasn't given the option to conspire with Zev and Leliana to get him into a brothel in Denerim or something, which she also totally would.

I mean, Hawke can get her nutsy big sister a husband, and Shep can get her adoptive son a breeding request, why can't the Warden get her bro a good lay?

Character evolution isn't a "retcon." Static characters, while predictable, are boring.

theres a big difference between character development and what they did with tali lol.

she regressed. she was more mature and worldly in ME1. maybe she was pychologically damaged and went back to being a teenager or something? i dunno, but it wasnt good.

what they did with liara however was awesome

I get the impression Alistair wouldn't want his first time - or any time, I assume - to be with just anyone. Better someone he cares for. Which makes sending him off to Morrigan so he can survive to marry Anora either tragic or amusing, depending on your opinion of him.

Then it was a badly written character progression (many think Liara's transformation from book worm into a badass Lara Croft in LOTSB was one as well). That's the problem, not the fact she can be in love with Shep because even confident/independent girl could have quadrillion reasons not to confess her feelings to someone.
