So to move things along....Someone suggested that we should have SpaceIsabela as a new romance interest. Great idea or Greatest idea?

I normally don't, but I feel that my solution for their desire for the world to end was too helpful to keep to myself.

Iam suprised noone found my above comment interesting.

Most of my wishlist romances are characters that have displayed some obvious romantic interest in females, if not shepard herself (Jack Tali) or were originally intended to be F/F LIs(Ashley) so it's all good bro.

@FrozenFire: You can easily edit ME2 saves to change the ME-imported plot flags. I've used it to 'trick' the game into recognising a Kaidan-mShep ME romance.

On the 360? I've done the whole "make game think I'm female so I can romance Kaidan in ME1" on the PC but most of my playthroughs (and all of my aforementioned speedruns) are on the xbox.

Ah, forgot about that. Well, I think that you should still be able to start a romance in ME3 regardless, of course. But now I'm right back to where I started.

We could omit the crush for a Shepard who never spoke to them but flirts in ME3, but it would have to be restricted to a few lines to not adversely impact a ME3 romance.

I have no idea of the beginning comic in ME3 will allow you to set how friendly you were with crew members, but it doesn't seem likely. So yeah, not a good idea to force some players to save edit.

@Frozen
Yes, you can save edit on the xbox. I'll send you a link for a modified version of Gibbed that works on both pcs and 360s.

Since it keeps coming up, I'll make a list of all of the characters who have confirmed their sexual orientation, so we know who shouldn't be retconned.

...

List complete.

There is a way to do it it's just 10000x more complicated and convoluted.

I support this. My Manshep was Samara's gay bff in ME2 but he would totally ditch her for SpaceIsabela. We could get drunk, tell dirty jokes, have a catfight over Kaidan and Vega. It'd be great Posted Image

To be fair, having certain characters "come out" in ME3 would feel to certain people similar to your skirt chasing buddy from highschool bringing his boyfriend to the 5 year class reunion. That's not to say that it was impossible that he was gay or bi before but that it's weird because you never had any indication of such proclivities(10%) and because it doesn't fit your preconceptions of the individual (90%).

It is forgiveable, if a bit annoying.

Jacob- The priiiize (too macho to be gay in my eyes)
Garrus- too macho and awesome. Would destroy his awesomeness to me. (Skirt chaser)
Ashley- obvious Christian
Miranda- wants to have her own kids. (cant do that when your gay.)

List complete.

Everyone else, I dont give a damn.
For the record, Iam not against s/s romance. Only if they rewrite old characters to be bi then will I be against it.

Maybe, but who was skirt-chasing? The LIs didn't really flirt with anyone except for Shepard.

@Texas
Macho or awesome guys can't be gay? What?
Christians can be gay. They may or may not feel conflicted over it, but being a Christian doesn't change your sexuality.
And yes, gay women can have children. They just don't want to have sex with a dude. Miranda obviously could if she really wanted to have natural children, or she could have an implanted fetus that is otherwise not altered. Would be FAR easier than the magic genetic engineering her father pulled.

Ashley. So... there are no gay Christains at all, anywhere? Sorry, that reasoning for Ash really can't hold water. If you don't want her to be one, fine, but that's a very poor argument to hold for it.

Miranda. As she was born from only one (male) parent, it's not a certainty, but yes, I do acknowlegde that it's not likely for that reason.

Skirt-chasing was just a throwaway line to give the initial impression of heterosexuality to increase the relevance of the simile.

Macho and Awesomeness - Video says it all Marine and a Cop, doesn't get more macho than that.

Christian - Sorry I exist, kinda screws that argument up.  Plus ya know the hundreds of thousands of other gay/bi faithful

Babies -  You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a pair of lesbian mothers and that's without the advanced genetic manipulation of the ME universe.

Basically you couldn't have failed more if you fell out of a fail tree and hit ever fail branch on the way down only to drown in the fail pond.

Yep. Details are in the FftL group or here

It doesn't involve changing gender flags, just changing the 'ME1 romanced' flag for ME2. I doubt it'd be supported into ME3, though, so it might lead to weirdness if you import a modded ME2 save.

@SennenScale: I'd love if this were implemented, but it seems to be unfairly punishing players who didn't pick up ME/ME2. If the romance options are new characters then this is irrelevant anyway, but even if they do use familiar ones it should be possible to have the writing in ME3 without having to rely on consequences from previous games.

Talis reasoning went like this:“What could I possibly be suggesting? I mean, a young woman gets rescued by a dashing commander who lets her join his crew and then goes off to save the galaxy? How could she possibly develop any kind of interest in him?”

I am not sure Tali developed her crush during ME1 or ME2. Let's assume it was ME1. Considering her age and the fact that she and Shepard are not of the same species...let's just say I am not surprised that she was a little insecure and needed time.

Still, we are going in the wrong direction. I am not trying to proof who is right and who is wrong. All I am saying is, don't call it retcon, only because you believe it is so.

A retcon is retroactive continuity. Basically someone says something happened and...there's evidence to prove it didn't happen.

I'm not saying she *couldn't* have had a crush. Buthere's absolutely nothing in ME1 to support it. Nothing. She doesn't act oddly around Shepard, no one else suspects this (Liara claims oh "even I could see it" in ME2 yet for some reson no one at all says something even though it's so obvious that Liara who hasn't had human (or any kind of contact) in years can tell right off? Despite it being completely invisible to Shepard?

If Tali's crush was as obvious as ME1 as it was during ME2...how did Shepard not notice? How did no one notice? Kaidan mentions Liara's crush on Shepard...why would he not notice Tali's?

Did Tali an rather expressive Quarian somehow masterfully hide her crush during ME1 (yet somehow just enough for Liara, and no one else to notice yet makes it obvious enough that everyone can pick up on it during ME2? Does that really make sense?

The amount of logic twisting for it to make sense is ridculous. (And before I even hear the "Tali spent a long time with Liara! Uh..no Tali spent alot of time with the engines with Pressly and the others. If she had a crush on Shepard I'd think the people she was constantly around would've noticed especially if it's so obvious that Liara (again this is the socially awkward Liara) noticed and the crew gossipped like mad so it wouldn't be a secret for long).

It's just a giant...dude what? Scenario that could've been avoided by avoiding the "I loved you all along." bit which frankly was unnecessary to begin with. (Though it could work for FemShepxTali because this time there's actually you know...the nerve stim pro info).

Which really was my whole point...I just want the s/s romances to avoid the I loved you all along trap because...yeah.

I never said, BioWare couldn't have handled the Tali romance better. They sure took some liberties to explain Talis feelings. Nevertheless, that is what they did. Did her secret crush seem a little farfetched? Yes, it did. But impossible? No, it didn't. Tali managed to hide her feelings from Shepard. The fact that you didn't notice it, just tells you that she made a good job of it. Liara noticed it, but noone else? Normandy was full of soldiers and fighters with a kill everything that moves attitude. Liara was a scientist, sensitive and tactfull and a woman to boot. If anyone would notice it, why not Liara?

What bothered me more was that Liara was no s/s romance option.

I know what retcon is, but there is no proof for or against Talis secret crush during ME1. One could suspect, but thats it. Fact is the secret crush has been confirmed in ME2. Calling it a retcon doesn't make it one.

Nevertheless, there are other options than playing the secret crush card to establish a new romance. I have no problem with it, if Bioware avoids the I loved you all along trap from now on.

As addition to a human m/m LI he would be great.
As only option not so much. If there is just one option I really do not want something that looks like the offspring of a cat and a lizard.

Regarding Tali:

She might have been a non love interest, quite a bit more anonymous and as people mention you could have treated her like crap.

However she was my favorite character (with love "potential") in ME1 and I would have romanced her if I could. Allthough at the time she seemed a bit too young for my tastes but the basic personality was there IMHO.

Thus I allways treated her nicely.

To me and my interpretation of my shephard character it kinda fits that he was attracted to her in ME1 and then developed love in ME2. It also seems quite believable that she could have been interested in my mshep character in ME1 but deliberately showed it.

I've actually experienced something like that myself. I kinda wanted her and she kinda wanted me (for YEARS) but we never admitted it to ourselves or others because it would have hurt third parties (and didn't think the other felt the same way). Nothing ever came of it though. We kinda grew out of it both of us but we sure laughed about it and the weirdness of life when we later got talking about it.

Back on topic. People do really view the character in different lights.

PS: I think that s/s romances add alot more to people caring about this than the relatively minor issues I would have with character continuity. So you win (I hope) and I loose... and it's ok... Posted Image
