I actually like it the way it is. I'd rather not have to walk into a stall and find a bloody tampon...*

*Experience of cleaning women's restrooms for a number of years speaking. Of course, I'm of the opinion that every building should have a complete seperate room for each person in the facility. Yes, that means if a building can hold up to a thousand people, I want a thousand bathrooms.

I'm inclined to agree, if only for the fact that every time I need to use the bathroom at work it feel like it's "**** o'clock" and EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE BUILDING needs to use the bathroom at the same time.

That said, I went to a college that had co-ed bathrooms (which included showers, private though they were) and it wasn't bad.  It did take some getting used to.  The guys, for example, were told to remember to close the stall doors if they were just going #1, since obviously girls aren't used to peeing without a barrier between them.

I would prefer Team Dextro to remain straight. I don't really care about the others. ^^'

"Remain" straight?  Tali flirts with a female Shepard just as hard as with a male Shep.  They just never gave femshep the option to reciprocate.

In the absence of anything of substance to discuss, here's another "OMG GARRUS NOOOOOOO" post.

I don't need to repeat how much I'm frankly stunned that so many people independently arrive at the same weird logic:

1. S/S is in ME3.
2. S/S *instantly* means OUR BRO Garrus will be turned into a Shepard-lovin' gay turian. This is, of course, the first thing I think of, as Garrus is my bro.
3. Naturally, any character who is not 100% straight, manly and badass is anathema.
4. (and yes, this is a real quote from the other thread)

If garrus starts hitting on me im gonna redo ME2 so i can let him die.

In related news, it was just confirmed there'll be no s/s romances in SWTOR. I'm really surprised. It's like, one step forward just to do one step backwards for BW

Different Bioware team?

Also, are they any gay people( at least male ones) in Star Wars universe?

And I don't think Bioware wants to risk rage of big Star Wars fanbase, even though they are in the wrong about that issue.

I imagine they're afraid, or unaware, of how to deal with possible harassment issues. [Forgive me for not being completely all up ins SWTOR, but since you can have a NPC 'party member', I'm going to assume there's a way to make a romance 'public', so to speak. If this isn't the case, ignore me.]

WoW went through a similar phase at launch. It initially banned most s/s guilds on the grounds that it exposed the people in the guild to harassment. [In WoW, guild names are publicly viewed underneath your character name.] This was eventually retracted, and most of the s/s guilds moved to a specific server.

Long story short, letting the community manage their own problems ended up for the betterment of Blizzard. I am sure Bioware will do the same in time. I have enough faith in Bioware to think that it's not so much of "we don't want s/s", as, "we're not sure how to police this yet." Especially when you're likely to have the highest amount of trolls present at launch.

I'm not saying that's a GOOD idea, mind you. But it's likely where they're coming from. Unless Lucas has some strange, no s/s clause in contracts. [Which I'm totally blind on, to be honest.]

Yes. There's a gay Mandalorian couple (one of the guys is Boba Fett's right hand) that even adopts a Mandalorian orphan. And of course lesbian Juhani.

Not to mention, we're talking about an universe in which there are species like Hutts that are universally hermaphrodites and assume masculine/feminine gender roles based on how they want.

@ElitePinecone:This kind of posts creep me the hell out. What would he do if his best friend confessed him he had a crush on him? Maybe he'd throw him through a window ala renegade shepard...now that's creepy!
I don't like Garrus as a LI anyway, so I don't actually care (for an alien I'd rather Feron, imagine bi Shepard romancing Liara and dumping her for Feron, the two people she's into, turn out to be into each other...so much drama) but that claims of letting someone die because of that disturbs me...

Most likely LucasArts retains creative control over a lot of what goes into it. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have at least some part in that decision. For whatever reasons they generally prefer not to have LGBT characters (with a few exceptions - including Juhani and some married gay Mandalorians) and there was a notable case where a SWTOR community manager explicitly said that the terms don't exist in Lucas' fictional universe.

I wouldn't exactly blame Bioware when this isn't their IP. I don't necessarily even blame LucasArts for being risk-averse; it's not, and should not be, a requirement that every MMO or RPG include same-sex content by some sort of universial fiat.

At this point, the only way they could make me want to buy that game any less is if it came bundled with a free package of ravenous, flesh eating wolverines.

Possibly in the collector's edition. I stopped going through the contents of that when I noticed it cost more than the combined debt of a third world country and neglected to include a statue of the hot Bastila-alike instead of Darth I'm-Not-Malak-I-Swear-See-I-Have-A-Jaw-Totally-Different-Person.

Not that I expected the game to have romances at all, let alone s/s ones, but my interest in playing was having a much better time of it before any features were actually announced.

To me it seems that it's not that easy to include ss and other potentialy controversial things in MMOs as the best and worst thing about that kind of game is that all kinds of people play them. We all know how some will furiously protest even about optional ss.

When did they say that?

Well... it's their right, I suppose. We can't tell them what to do. It just seems odd how they would go all out with most other content yet fall back in this particular spot.

Never really felt much for Star Wars beyond the movies or MMO's in general, so I don't really care anyway.

Laughed at the first two lines

I've barely heard anything about the characterisation at all, the EA marketing juggernaut seems to be pushing the MMO (specifically: the WoW similarities) aspect far more than Bioware's traditional strengths of good narrative. Still, I wish it all the success it can have, if only because if it makes a truckload of money Bioware and EA will have (I'd like to hope) higher budgets for other titles.

Good point, they need to fund the bi dwarves and turians in their coming games somehow.

Oh, urgh, the whole "NPC-romance in an MMO"-thing just sort of breaks my immersion a little, to be honest.

"Aw, dood, I romanced [healer] and we tohotalleh had sex, brah!"
"Aw, yeah, me too, brah!!"
"Sweet!"
*high fives*

"Brah!"

The multiplayer aspect of SWTOR may introduce a dynamic that the developers don't know how to deal with, and the history of WoW was already brought up. Plus we have no idea what Lucas' limitations imposed on EA and Bioware may have been.

I had my finger hovering over the "cancel" button for my SWTOR preorder last night because of this.

On the one hand, I'm a MMO veteran.  Romances with NPCs are not why I play MMOs.

On the other hand, Bioware made a point of creating romance story arcs with NPCs in SWTOR, because they know fans of their games enjoy that content.  Going back to the bad old days of "yeah, see that beautiful, independent, smart, funny female NPC?  If your player character had a penis, she would be in love with him.  SUCKS TO BE YOU" is not my idea of entertainment.

I don't know.  I don't really have the time to invest in a MMO anyway, these days.  Hmph.

...They put romances in a MMO? :/

Just let the players romance each other (s/s or otherwise) and call it a day.

Exactly what I was thinking...

Anyway, I think it's more of...an issue with gays being viewed in the gaming community. I'm not looking at it as a "Aw now I don't get to romance so-and-so!" but more of a hope that gays will be included in the gaming community and not have "Fight Against Grenade Spam" issues again. (That was totally bull-crap "Lets find an acronym for ****S!"...who REALLY titles something like that...it's pretty damn obvious.) But I suppose it's also the fact that CoD has a ton of ignorant frat boy type of guys.
