Just out or curiostiy. Is that why you prefer Kaidan as a s/s romance option?

Partly, but I'd be willing to change if the ME3 option(s) are better.

It's more a reaction to the idea that all bisexual people must be emotionally challenged or morally bankrupt, had a hard life, experienced trauma etc.

It'd be nice if we had a grounded character who wasn't a) a promiscuous stereotype a la Isabella, Zev or Leliana B) crazy and/or traumatised (Sky, Anders, Fenris)

Actually, I have never noticed that before. But now that your saying it...

I would support m/m romance for Kaidan, anyway.

I don't see the problem with making old squad members available for s/s romance. Someone used Willow of the Buffy series as an example of how a straight character slowly turned into a gay character. It doesn't have to be about sexuality though.

Of course Bioware can do whatever they please, for good or for bad. But I think the concern isn't over what they can fabricate to excuse such an unlikely change in sexuality, but rather, that it will be forced and out of character. Not because it's pivotol to the plot. Not because it makes sense and everyone could see it coming. Not because it would make a good subplot. But the only reason it would be, quite literally, thrown in is to appease a few people at the expense of everyone else. Resources are not infinite. Whatever goes to devising all these intricate love webs is taking away neutral dialog that everyone can enjoy. Mass Effect games don't have enough conversations as it is. Bioware certainly doesn't need to shrink it even more at everyone's expense for the sake of an tiny minority.

By the the same token, streamlining the romances in such a way as to make all LIs bisexual and having one well-done cinematic where mShep and femShep are interchangeable guarantees pleasing the greatest amount of fans for the least amount of work and capital expenditure, freeing up resources for things like sidequests and other content that "everyone" can enjoy.

That argument cuts both ways, is all I'm saying.

What expense are you talking about? Romances will be optional. Chances are your LI will never express interest in the same sex, unless you try to romance a female LI with a FemShep. But why would you do that, if your not interested in s/s romance?

The romance subplots already exist. BioWare takes great pride in providing good romance. Have you seen the videos on youtube of the Ashley and FemShep love scene? I know you had to modify the game a bit. But those who created these videos, say it was pretty easy to do so. If that is any indicator, making a LI optional for MShep and FemShep is a very small problem.

They clearly think it's worth investing in, since they've confirmed it.

The marketing and PR types aren't wilfully stupid. The project lead, Casey Hudson, would not have decided to go down this route unless he saw an advantage in it. Bioware don't throw money away on things people won't appreciate (well, usually).

For your information, the dialogue isn't being 'shrunk down' at all - it's being expanded, both for romances and friendship paths with existing characters.

Fears of "the gheys taking away our dialogue with characters!!!" are unfounded.

Also, because it needs reiterating sometimes...

Bi Ashley removes nothing from straight Ashley. Your personal canon, with "your" Ashley, will remain unchanged. Ditto for every. Other. Character.

To use another example...Wrex is one of my favorite characters. But I don't get constipated with rage when someone else lets him die on Virmire in their game.

If only they were more specific as to how.

By which I mean 'they stopped refusing to explain'.

Macho can't be gay? What?

Nope, not in my eyes and 90% of the heterosexual population.

You must be blind then. I'm masculine, and I like men, so do lots of soldiers, atheletes, firemen, policemen, construction workers, hunters(you know where I'm going with this). I'm not going to be a gayaesop here, but we aren't all fashion designers or work at Bravo.

Speaking of macho ... I hope they do a better job with the male LI in general than they did in DA and DA2.  You either OD on emo or they are so prissy you can not get anything from them. When I want a man, I want him confident and I want him strong enough so that I am not afraid I will break him if things get a little rough Posted Image

If you want to stay within your species, there's Vega, Kaiden, and maybe sorta hopefully, Joker.

Vega's a veteran alliance soldier built like a tank. Joker is an ace-pilot with a good case of DHAT BEARD, and Kaiden is a veteran alliance marine and biotic with an awesome jawline, though he comes off as a little too soft and sweet for me.
I think the'll all fit the bill well...unless if Bioware suddenly has a species of bisexual, rogue space-elves with a case of WOEISME come onto the scene and join your party, then we'll all be screwed.

Jacob- The priiiize (too macho to be gay in my eyes)
Garrus- too macho and awesome. Would destroy his awesomeness to me. (Skirt chaser)
Ashley- obvious Christian
Miranda- wants to have her own kids. (cant do that when your gay.)

These reasons are head scratchers ... I attend a protestant church where the pastor is gay, we have 3 couples (2 f/f & 1 m/m) that have children and another f/f couple expecting their 1st child. Between science, adoption and surrogacy both straight and gay couples are being blessed with children.

Ashley's professed monotheism is so dreamy and vague that it certainly does not disqualify her solely on that basis.

That said, and off-topic, faith and bisexuality are not incompatible.

Could not agree more!

I'm a man who likes men, if I want to sleep with something pretty and hairless then i would sleep with a women! My MShep is rooting for Kaidan or Joker, he's been eyeing them both up since the start of ME1 Posted Image

I think he should burn in hell. Did he read the Bible anyway? That's a sin and violation of saint laws, as far as I can tell.

This saddens me ... But each man/woman to his/her own heart and relationship with God. Posted Image
