I'm with ElitePinecone. I won't take a s/s Kaidanmance for granted until I see it.

I'm starting to get this mindset. them saying there will be S/S in ME3 could mean anything from everyone's available to femshep and maleshep to "oh Vega goes both ways and Kelly is an achievement romance now"

Would not shock me in the least. But hey, that's what mods are for, right? :?

IDK, generally I'm the world's most massive pessimist about the media I consume (man, I'm a feminist scifi and comics fan, it's a wonder I even get up in the morning), but for once I'm actually feeling kind of hopeful. I mean the evidence for the VS is pretty scant, the evidence for Joker is even scanter, and what we know about James Vega wouldn't fill a post-it note, and maybe I'm just feeling charitable to BioWare for DA2, but...

I mean, again, I'm not saying it would surprise me at all if they epic failed. But for once I'm not expecting them to. It's a strange feeling. Kind of nice, actually.

So, I just got ninjamanced. My Shep said something like "I'm not interested in you, Liara. Not romantically." But apparently, that's just not enough to kill the romance. I don't know if I can bear to replay the last seven hours of this POS.

I know your pain.

And then my Shep (who also was ninja'd by LIara) found his busted armor in her apartment.

He wants a restraining order.

I don't understand it.  I've heard so many people complain about this and yet I just played that scenario using the "I just want to be friends" line and it killed the potential romance dead in its tracks. My Shep was all alone at her locker.  I'm beginning to suspect a bug.

The renegade no for some reason is bugged. (which is even more headdesk inducing because I believe Shepard says something likehe finds her disgusting) apparently Your kind disgust me = I WUB U!

I play on PC though. So maybe PC exclusive bug?  All I know is my Shep got ninja'd. And i was creeped out because of how often he insulted her .

I play on PC too and have said everything under the sun to Liara, both good and bad and have only had her in a full romance once, when it was intentional. She's my canon romance, though.  Maybe that one femShep was all she needed.  =]

Well, if Liara still won't leave you alone in ME3 even after you turn her down, you could always try this:

Yeah, mods. The ME franchise has a problem with them. It's ridiculously hard to make them work if you compare it to, let's say, how Dragon Age handle them.

Currently I'm working on my 2nd playthrough of ME/ME2. I want to have a clean (read 'unmodded') save file to import for ME3 but sometimes I don't know what I should be doing with my MShep romance-wise. I want him to persue a s/s relationship for ME3 exclusively but for the life of me I don't know what would be the best option for him during ME and ME2. Should he not romance anyone? Or romance Ash but save Kaidan at Virmire? It would be a lot easier if we had info on how a ME2 import would affect ME3 but I might as well ask for world peace instead. :(

Any feedback ME veterans would be willing to share would really be appreciated. Thanks!

If you're running this playthrough specifically for a s/s romance in ME3, my suggestion would be to not romance anyone through either ME or ME2. I've nothing to base that on, but if it were me I'd rather err on the side of caution. Save Kaidan on Virmire, and romance no one.

I'm starting a s/s run through now too. The last one was a straight MShep who romanced Liara or Ashley. I did a female one too and romanced Alenko. Be nice to fo a gay run. I am sorry to repeat myself again but in relation to age ratings in the UK, mass effect being 12, second 15 and seems like ME3 is an 18. Do you think this relates to more adult themes and sexual content or just more guts. I quite liked the romance scene in ME1 but less so in ME2. I thought it was more caring and passionate compared to the dry humping in ME2.

Is less more you think?

Finally to isaacshep - czescz ;)
Credit to Sian 2 for being so diplomatic and pleasant when dealing with derailers ( I don't think that's a real word).

It's not maleShep exclusive as we've discussed it on the femShep thread a number of times. I don’t know.  I’ve run five different Sheps through ME1 and I have never had the Liara ninjamance. Got the full romance once, the triangle and chose Kaidan once, and shot her down three different ways in three different other playthroughs.  On a PC w/ four femsheps and one broshep.  Liara is my fav LI, so I don’t know whether to feel good or bad about it.  Shrugs.

Don't get me wrong: I do think it's quite likely Ashley and Kaidan will be s/s options. There's quite a bit of circumstantial evidence that has hinted at this.

But equally, to take it as 100% guaranteed, minus the official announcement, is (I think) setting yourself up for disappointment.

It's totally possible that all the s/s romances in ME3 will be only with new characters (or old characters that weren't squadmates becoming squadmates), and from what we've heard it's just as likely that some characters we can romance won't even be squadmates.

I just did this w/ a femShep. She saved Ashley and is currently going through ME2 w/ no plans to romance anyone.

It's said that the roamnces may involve characters that are not squadmates.  I know Joker has been on a lot of hearts and minds since the series began.  Of course, then EDI might get jealous.  ;)

If I had a Shepard that romanced Joker, we would have to talk.  Next time you're given the order to evactuate.  Don't make me save your ass and get spaced again. ;)

I've been thinking about doing this, but I can't decide whether to make a clone of my main!Shep in case she can get Ash legit this time, or nix the Garrus romance I was planning for my current vanguard alt in case, IDK, Jack or Vigilante or somebody is available and eye-catching.

(Or Kasumi, my super-secret never-in-a-million-years-going-to-happen near-fondest hope. <3)

Fortunately Micah's been pining for Kaidan for two games anyway so I'm set as far as dudeShep goes. (He could have fallen for Miranda if he'd let himself, but... Akuze.)

Gaah, everyone talking about fine tuning their canon Sheps makes me sad. I wish my 360 wasn't broken...

I have to say, as a straight guy, I've never been interested in Miranda. I've always said she's someone I'd be friends with, but not romance.

I don't know if this was already posted here but I wouldn't know because this thread is tl;dr, but did you guys know that Jennifer Hale recorded dialogue for Tali's romance? I was hoping that BW would've made her be able to be romanced by both ManShep and FemShep. Whether they were planing on making her a lesbian, bisexual or they simply had Jennifer Hale record those lines just in case (which in that case doesn't really matter), it's clear that BW simply got cold feet.

I'm so used to being disappointed, I'm not even preparing a character for s/s romances yet.  When I see it, I'll believe it, and role a new character accordingly.

I'd be with you on this, but I wanted to replay ME2 anyways. I figured it wouldn't kill me to just skip out on romance while I'm at it. There is the lingering possibility I won't like any of the options they give us in ME3, but hey. Gay Shep is no stranger to being alone.

Unless, somehow... against all odds...

Only some of it.  Much is missing.  Same goes for other s/s dialogue in ME2.  It's nowhere near complete.

Apologies if this has already been suggested before, but how difficult would it be to have a "Same Sex Romance - Y/N" option at the start of each game? Wouldn't such a feature satisfy both the anti and pro-S/S romance camps?

I do not like S/S romances to be honest (including femshep+Asari), but I don't think it'd be fair to exclude this option entirely, since there are some who favour it. What I personally cannot accept is if my character gets HIT ON by a squadmate of the same sex, without any prompting or dialogue option whatsoever. Worse if said squadmate has never exhibited any previous behaviours that hinted that they were gay/bi. Seeing this happen to some characters in DA2 was a big put-off.

An option to choose whether such interactions are available/automated would be the ideal solution IMO.
