I've never bought that.  I've also never bought the, 'We can't have s/s romances in ME2 b/c it's PG-13!' either.

Or the: "MANSHEP IS NOT HOMOSEXUAL BECAUSE...BECAUSE...THAT'S WHY!"

Ha, ha!

I buy it for ME1 and that when they actually discussed the possibility to indluce it, there was just no time anymore. But ME2? LULZ hell to the no. Not with 6 straight romances, and another 3 flings (Samara, Morinth, Kelly). There was so much romance content in ME2 it was obviously a concious decision to not include a single m/m one (and no f/f that grants Paramour achievement).

And of course nothing Muzyka said regarding s/s in ME franchise had anything to do with logic so there was nothing to buy in these excuses to begin with.

well with me1 I do buy the story that ashley was going to be a love interest for male and female with me2 I think the whole fox news lies scared bioware into not doing it I mean the game after that whole thing was dragon age and we had people having sex still wearing there underwear

My own belief is that some in Bioware WANTED to do it since game one, they've even admitted to discussing it, but they probably felt that space/shooter would appeal to predominately young straight males who wouldn't care less or be extremely offended by s/s male content. Heck, Chris Priestly even admitted that he didn't want LIs in the game so they've never been envisioned to be a major part of the franchise.

Thankfully women, bisexuals and gays, though a minority, have embraced the series and changes have been made accordingly. It takes nothing away from me to give others the option to customize a s/s Shepard with the LI they desire.

Valid points but, I was thinking more a long the lines of a tone thing. Like Meer's voice acting just being slightly off during a couple of lines.

Maybe.  It's been a while since I've flirted with Kelly (I can't be bothered with cabin customization anymore).  I don't think it's anything in Meer's voice that creeps me out.  It's what he's saying.

This would be the opposite of the Jacob romance situation, where for so many people it was Hale's tone that creeped them out, not necessarily the words she was saying.  There's a perfectly innocent way of saying, "I'm more interested in just talking for a bit."  I don't think the same can be said of "Where's my hug, Kelly?" given the context, but I'm probably a bit jaded.

Fair enough, I guess I always sort of down play lines like in that my memory. Personal head canon I suppose, with Kelly's romance I just remember the actual "date" bits. It felt a bit cooler than talk, talk, talk, sexy times, calibrations.

But to each their own I suppose.

One of the problems with video games, even in the current generation or with the highest end PC you can build, subtlety and nuance is difficult to convey. Thus just about every voiced line to or by a potential LI has the potential to hit you like a sledgehammer of love/lust/desire. There isn't really a lot of time to get to know Kelly in a space-shooter-RPG, for example, or many ways to convey a growing sense of affection in the graphics, so therefore Shepard basically has to come on like a dog in heat so that players get the message, "Hey! Player, here's another one you can have snuggle-bunnies with!"

For ME1 I can almost believe it (or, at least, I can believe it was due to budget constraints or A/K being seen as not suitable for s/s), but not ME2. There was more than one whisper that some developers wanted to include them in the second game from the outset and they were smacked down from higher-up people in the team. The confused answers given by Hudson and Muzyka to the question about s/s romances makes me think they cut it for controversy reasons then couldn't find a proper excuse. They clearly knew the level of demand beforehand and had plenty of time to plan for it if they wished it to be in the game.

But even if it's not about resources or time or staff numbers, Bioware don't have an obligation to be 'fair', or to include s/s romances just because they have the resources to do so.

It'd be nice if they did, of course - and we've always argued in this thread that fairness should apply to the LI options - but they don't actually have to listen to anything we say. Nor should they be obliged to. Fundamentally they're a business with commercial interests, and there's a limit to how much writers, designers and so on can do before a risk-averse executive gets nervous about how large the market would be for some content.

One of the points of this thread, of course, is to demonstrate that there is a not-insignificant amount of demand for s/s content, and that there are some very good reasons for it to be in-game. Thankfully it paid off.

Edit: spelling mistakes

Oh hell I've always been gay for Garrus. That's just a fact. It's GARRUS! Everybody loves them some turian.

And hopefully Kasumi is bi. I LOVE Kasumi. Samara would be nice to.

Vega shows promise as well, although I don't exactly know his personality or voice yet. Hard to say.

Well Kelly is just a fling. I don't think she was ever completely intended to be a true LI in ME2. You just had a date. An arousing sexy date! Kelly probably needed some venting.

Anway, I don't see the suplus of LI's as "Your Shep's a woman/manizer, have all the lovin' he can get!" I see it more as each Shepard is a different life. Each Shepard chooses a different path and just has options. Unless of course someone makes their Shepard a multi-lover which... is out of anyone's hands at that point haha. Just remember that many of the LI's have biotics... or can jack your olfactory filters so that everything smells like refuse. So don't break up with them =)

It seems that the Mods want us to have ANY discussion about homosexuality or bisexuality and how it pertains to anything including real life or the game here.

Just stating a fact.

Going back on topic then, my Shep would be so happy if he could romance Kaidan, Jacob & Vega in ME3 :D But that's probably too much to hope :( Will be happy with Kaidan & Vega :)

For what it's worth, I probably will be exploring the various S/S options that are available in the game, just out of curiosity. Did the same with all the romances in ME1 and 2, even though I could barely stand Thane's.

I still think Ash is somewhat of given for a female s/s LI given the hints we've heard about Kaidan but I don't want to get my hopes up too much and work myself into a frenzy that could be disappointed and crushed.

I'm pretty sure that, given the option, my canon Shepard would've romanced Ashley over Liara. There is certainly an appreciation and attraction there My dilemma is that I don't know if my mainshep would've leave Liara after all they've gone through for a romance with Ash. If Ash does become available for s/s loving that's going to be my most difficult choice in the game!

ETA: I hope that they allow a partial pursuit of new LI's, more than one flirt before forcing a choice between the two.  Unless Ash has rethought her stance on threesomes :D

To be fair, FemShep had an essentially lesbian relationship with Liara available since ME1. You can get into the technicalities of Asari biology if you like, but we all know what the purpose was there.

For that reason, I am guessing that the only M/M relationship option is probably going to be with Vega, who so far looks to be a very manly gay man.

When I played my femshep Phoenix.  I always got the feeling my femshep had a serious attraction to her beyond my own feelings of Ash.  Just the way she says "We'll talk later Chief" just overflows with longing as far as I am concerned.

While hardly conclusive, unless I really missed something, Kaidan is still almost certainly going to be a s/s romance. This link has the text of the post that almost confirms his status. The video was made in response to some truly vile postings so it's not exactly conciliatory in tone, but it is the quickest link I have to the info.  This post has a bunch of Casey Hudson tweets on the matter.  Taken all toghther, I think the most reasonable conclusion is that there will be at least one previous LI for both avaliable for s/s LI and a new one for each Shep as well.  More than that is hard to guess and it could still be wrong...but I don't think it is :)
