You guys are replying to me, I feel more welcomed now ;-; hahah

MageTarot, I think the safest would be to import your unromanced gay Shepards to ME3 rather than the modded ones. That's what I'm going to do. I think someone asked Casey or someone else on a ME Q&A and they said that ME3 won't support saves that modded their Shep to romance s/s. I don't know if that meant that the save will be broken or if it'll just ignore the romance though. I will try importing a modded Shepard (or wait to hear from someone who tries it first) to see if it'll work but only when I run out of other Shep playthroughs.

Plus, even though it was nice to use a modded Shepard to see the Kaidan romance with a gay Shep, it's still wasn't 'real', if you get what I mean since Kaidan 'thought' you were a girl. I'm sure I'll prefer the 'Kaidan realises his feelings for MShep' in me3 more than having the imported fake straight relationship with a modded Shep. If Kaidan was nervous with femShep then imagine how awesome it would be to watch him admit his feelings to mShep in me3. I can't wait >.>

My first playthrough was a modded Shepard just so I could witness first-hand what I saw on the youtube videos but yes, I concur that my unromanced Shepard would be the best one to import to ME. My guess is that importing a modded Shepard to ME3 will have the game ignore the mod. When I imported my modded Shepard to ME2 I got the romance option lines for female LI's only (although Kaidan's picture is on the desk in Shepard's cabin).

But once March rolls around we can see just how close to the mark we were...or weren't.

Layla Shepard Earthborn Ruthless Adept

She was slightly tweaked for ME2 as well as added illusive man eyes but I have ME2 on Origin and have no idea how to add screenshots so this is the best I have.

I was very much tempted to mod to give her the Ashley romance in ME1 but I decided it would be better off waiting.  Hopefully the payoff will be awesome [face_drunk_chakwas]

And saving Ash just because.

Danica Shepard, Colonist/War Hero and Paragade who romanced Liara but has a 50/50 possibility of dumping her if Ashley becomes open to s/s romance.

My theory is that the VS will be treated as a "new" romance even if you have been loyal to them. The emails they sent Shepard pretty much indicated that the VS considers the romance over although they leave the possibility for reconciliation [hot make up sex]. Whether they were lovers or just friends both Ashley and Kaidan [and Ryaki's Shepard] have some pretty hard feelings about what happened at Horizon so there will probably be a make up scene regardless. That is why I think Shepard may have to romance them all over again using a slightly modified version of the starting a new romance option for new comers to the series.

I don't know, they've said repeatedly that you'll be rewarded if you stay faithful...maybe you'll have to romance them 'again' but with a completely different version than if you're romancing them for the first time. I mean, you talk differently with your ex (sorta ex in Shepard's case since we're assuming he/she still has feelings for the LI if they stay faithful) than with someone new, right?

I can't post my queer Sheps, I'd be here all day. Only one of them is completely straight. XD

I imagine "no support" for modded Sheps means exactly what it meant for VSmancers in ME2. The flags will work fine, the dialog will fire fine, the animations will match up, and the game will cheerfully proceed as if you had romanced that character legitimately. Except, occasionally you'll get called by the wrong pronoun, or the Meer/Hale voiceover will fail to exist, leaving your Shep nodding dumbly through anything from 10-90% of the dialog such that you won't know what you're saying without subtitles turned on.

Personally, my first playthrough is never my canon playthrough anyway - perils of the paraphrase system, etc etc - so I'm not too fussed about the decision yet. I'll probably run a disposable dudeShep through to see what the returning female romances are like and to compare them to the new romances before I decide whether it's worth risking dead lines.

^ I hope that even if bi the romances will be slightly different if for example you romance Kaidan as a male rather than female in me3. That it unknowledges that it's a s/s romance rather than a straight one.

But they'll probably just do the whole change from he to she and vice versa so they don't accidentally offend anyone. I hope not though (plus the absence of s/s till now could be considered offensive enough for some). Zevran's s/s romance in DAO, though not perfect, is a pretty cool example of what I'm talking about. You can go 'But I'm a guy', 'Did you always like men as well?' and stuff like that, which I really appreciated when playing with my male elf Warden, as I felt it added something special to the s/s romance.

In DA2, even though I appreciated the freedom of choise, I didn't really like that the romances were exactly the same whether you were male or female (only Ander's romance changes and that's only at the beginning, like when he admits he used to be with Karl only with mHawke). I'm sorry, I got carried away with DA talk x_x. Just wanted to use an example.

Bottom line is: I want my gay Shepard to feel like he's getting something special when romancing Kaidan rather than a recycled female romance. Same goes for any other LIs that are bi in me3. That's why I originally suggested an exclusively gay romance for both sexes (as well as having the Virmire choise available for s/s), because I feel like my Shepard deserves special dialogue >.>. But maybe I'm just overly attached to my Shepards and want nothing but the best for them *pats their heads* hahahah

Sadly all I have is a camera phone to take my favorite gay Shepard's picture. He is waiting for that Kaidan shower scene IsaacShep loves to post so much.

EDIT: DAMMIT! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!?

RE-EDIT: FINALLY! I am so mad I had to work so hard to post such a lousy quality photo.

Temujin Shepard. Earthborn war hero. Engineer. Going to be "gay as hell" in ME3. Specially trained to ruin your immersion.

As long as my Sheps can tell the VS "I don't want you, I don't *like* you, I can barely stand you but I'll work with you." I'll be happy.

and if Kaidan is the only m/m option in ME3 my Sheps will just have to deal with molesting Conrad. Or staring longingly at Garrus. Whichever fits the Shep.

I'm about seven hours too late, but just to confirm something someone said earlier:

Bioware have said very recently (as in, two or so months ago) that they have no plans to ever release a patch that allows a legitimate Ash/Kaidan romance in ME with a same gender Shepard.

It also means that importing a modded save might mess some things up in ME3, obviously - someone mentioned missing dialogue, wrong pronouns, etc.

Re: unique dialogue for s/s romances, it's a doubled-edged sword, I think. On the one hand it'd be nice to see some unique references to the fact that Shepard is a woman/man, but over-emphasizing it would be really tacky. The worst possible outcome would be some version of "I've never felt this way about a woman/man before" or "But we're both women/men/space hamsters!".

To be honest, I'd rather the romance emphasize the relationship between the people instead of their gender. DA2 did this well, I thought. It's hardly going to be an issue in 2186.

Frankly, I think gender brings its own differences even without the writing. Isabela's Rivalmance and either of Merrill's romances (but especially the Rivalmance) squick the everloving tar out of me as m!Hawke. Screaming pile of DO NOT WANT. As f!Hawke I'm basically fine with Izzy's and only marginally uncomfortable with Merrill's. Closer to on-topic, it bothers me much less to romance Liara with femShep than dudeShep, and if Tali's romance allowed femShep to play too I might have actually played it at least once for SCIENCE!. Just because, you know, the connotations, and the history of that type of "idolizing, blushing virgin girl" trope and the "control and change my love for her own good" trope and how much they're tied up in gross sexist worldviews, and the fact that playing a second female there changes it from "more of the same" to at best slightly subversive, and at worst at least new and mostly divorced from that gross history.

tl;dr version, basically, I mean to say that you can have two different romances for the two Sheps without having two different romance paths. Simply because femShep and dudeShep are not actually quite the same character, simply because they have very different cultural context.

I think any tweaking past that becomes a bit superfluous. And like Pinecone said, easily apt to turn into tacky, hamfisted... er, straight-people-trying-to-be-relevant-to-the-queer-experience. (Not to say that straight people can't convincingly write the queer experience. Just that there's a certain very familiar awkward flavor to the ways in which many straight people commonly fail.)

I created my first male Shep recently because I don't play him (only for me3, for the s/s) so I messed around in the ME2 CC. I couldn't make a decent looking Shep (Hawke was much easier to make handsome), they all ended up looking like they should be shouting out ENCHANTMENT! at any second ;P

So this is my lesbian shep instead :D   I have many of those :P   This one is Raine Shepard, my main one.

Heh. Ok. Just three.

Jakarta, making her "crap, I am totally falling for a subordinate" face:

Varick, checking out Miranda's ass between murky "where do I stand with Liara" and "that Thane guy is pretty compelling" angst (an ass like that, I figure they'll forgive her):

And Marrhki, who's actually interested in Miranda, though I unfortunately don't have a decent pic that expresses that, so you just get an action shot. I don't know what she's doing here but I find the pose oddly cool:
