The whole blonde thing being an urban myth; well I suspect a lot of people wont know it. And I didnt disagree that it wasnt an urban myth, or that it was a case of "did not do the research" here. I was merely pointing out that as far as scientific errors in the ME universe go this one is pretty small.

When all it takes is a google search to check your facts... it's a research failure.

There are a number of much larger, much more obvious mistakes that they should never have made.

Okay firstly the whole mass effect fields thing doesnt work because Mass Effect Fields in ME Science! are porous also because if they didnt allow the passage of air molecules through the person inside would suffocate fairly quickly.

So nope doesnt work as an arguement.

That's what the masks are for.

If you cant suspend your disbelief over the small nitpicky things then the problem is yours not the developers.

I can suspend my disbelief just fine. Except for things which are blatantly wrong. It's not a case of everyone having shiny blue eyes because of the spice Melange. It's a case of 'someone heard from their cousin's best friend that blondes are going extinct so we should put that in our game as true facts!' Which is just laziness.

If they had gotten all the bigger things right I might have agreed with you that they should have done the research on the details; but as they didnt... it is a lot to hope for that they get the small things right.

Getting big things right just makes it that much easier to spot the little things because we're not focusing on the big thing. That's what I meant. If you go to the effort of getting the big things right, then getting the little things wrong just smacks of laziness and you will get caught out by even not-so-observant fans.

I have zero problems with the vast majority of MEverse lore. Even unbelievable things like Shepard's body surviving atmospheric re-entry and then a ballistic impact on the surface of a planet have no effect on my suspension of disbelief. Could they have done a better job with it? Sure, but I'm not raging about it. I'm not even raging about the blonde thing. I just think should do their research the way any competent writer should.

IF we get a new human LI for f/f i'd like a dialogue like this:

Fem!Shepard: (in a flirty tone) you look stressed, how about you rest up in my cabin.
new human f/f LI: i...i don't think i should impose on you like that, but-uh-thx for the offer. i..i should get back to work.

yeah, make her a little naive when it comes to s/s romance, but availible to both

Athayniel.

I am not disagreeing with you exactly.

I am merely pointing out, as I said, that there are other more glaring inconsistancies than that to contend with in ME2. As a "problem" its a fairly minor one.

And your masks arguement still doesnt work because skin is still exposed and its still porous and this a person would still die in a toxic atmostphere or in vacumn. It makes a hell of a lot less sense than the erroneous belief that there will be less blondes and gingers in the universe as time progresses.

Do the small things like that irritate me? Yes, but not to the point where I cant suspend my disbelief and ignore them for the most part.
If it comes down to a choice between them fixing the nitpicky things and filling up the plot craters then id rather they filled up the plot craters.

Frankly I am a little astonished to read that the big plot holes like sherpard having adamantium skin that allows his/her body to survive reentry into a planet is easier for you to swallow than an urban legend about blondes dissapearing.

You're forgetting that I'm talking about breathers and mass effect fields in combination, not exclusive of each other. Even then there are plenty of environments that would require a breather mask but not be toxic to your skin and eyes. Low oxygen environments for instance. If the atmosphere were corrosive you might have a point. If your argument is that mass effect fields can't be made fully gas impermeable then that's another discussion.

Frankly I am a little astonished to read that the big plot holes like sherpard having adamantium skin that allows his/her body to survive reentry into a planet is easier for you to swallow than an urban legend about blondes dissapearing.

*sighs* When something is that big you just have to let it go or you'll *never* get into the story. Could it have been written better? Absolutely. And it's a problem for me that it wasn't. But when a little thing is just wrong, and it is *so* easy to check that it's wrong, it fills me with ennui. I don't like being filled with ennui. So I head-canon it away for the most part. Doesn't mean I won't bring it up as an example of bad, lazy research and writing when warranted.

You can be so much better BioWare! You can!

Guys, all this talk about blondes and genetics and whatnot is rather off-topic.

I guess we could start a discussion about whether or not homosexuality and bisexuality are genetic conditions in the ME universe but I seriously doubt we would get beyond a half dozen posts before people start getting banned.

I've noticed the "OMG S/S NOOOOO" threads have died down a lot recently. ^____^

Everyone seems to be focused on multiplayer,

I know, isn't it funny the way that works?  Either that or the mods are moving very quickly.

Hi, I'm new round these parts. Had to ask, do you get these sort of threads often? :crying:

I mean, it's not as if S/S is new to the ME universe, with S/S relationships for femsheps in the past. So why would people get angsty over some S/S male shep squeezin'? I know I'm looking forward to the addition!

They used to pop up every couple of days, a few months ago.
Most people don't really care, or are mildly supportive if players are given the choice to initiate the romances. There's only a very small number of crazies who spout moral/social/political/religious nonsense objections.

Well not caring is the ideal reaction IMO. So I'm not feeling so worried about joining the community now! :D

Multiplayer is the new s/s. Let's remember, it's less about the "S/S", and more about the "OMG NOOOOO". As long as people have something to be against, they're happy.

I'm so tempted to start a s/s multiplayer thread but I could never deal with the guilt if it causes BSN to experience a total meltdown and delete every forum, topic and thread on here. Posted Image

i know that Amara Shepard is looking forward to seeing IF Ashley is going to go for f/f. if not, there's always Kelly, right? (once i figure out if Liara still wants her after they agreed to be friends. (stupid confusing pictures is still up))

I wouldn't call them crazies. That implies they don't really mean what they're writing.

I support multiplayer! As a matter of fact, I want "politically correct" multiplayer! All players must fill out information detailing their character's age, gender, race, religion, and political and sexual preferences so that teams will be set up based on a complex quota system set up by Bioware.

If Bioware does this I volunteer to conduct the oversight of the official BSN "OMG! NOOOOO!" thread.

Watch yourself Abispa, you don't want to bring didymos in here to tell you how WRONG you are about human genetic diversity. (Yes, it's an incredibly stupid through-thread.)

Multiplayer is the new s/s.

Well, multiplayer would solve some s/s issues very neatly. Since you could just go hit on other s/s toons being manned by cooperative players.

It would bring so many more new ones, though. The videogame equivalent of barsexuals not least among them. At least if an NPC hits on me I know it's not for the benefit of other NPCs.
