Thanks. W/o you, I would've never known who Merrill is.

If you have seen Torchwood and Doctor Who it may also interest you to know that she is voiced by the incredibly lovely Eve Myles! ^_^ For that reason alone she is my favourite companion in DAII,

Though she wasn't in Origins, where Erin Matthews had the role. She certainly isn't as Welsh as Eve Myles that's for sure.

I've seen the flamewars in the Ash and Tali threads when some poor noob runs up against an established thread veteran's GET YER PERVY ****** HANDS OFF MY FAVORITE. It's not pretty, and I would be surprised to see many of those noobs stick around in that character's fan community on BSN, even if they do really like said character and legit want to pursue her with a femShep out of personal compatibility and not "lesbian" hawtness.

It's an interesting point. I used to be an f/f Jack supporter until I got run out of her fan thread for wanting to turn her into a 'stereotype'. I was so cross I never went back.

External influences can certainly alter your perceptions.

I don't think you should let the narrowmindedness of others dissuade you from your f/f-Jack-ness. You carry on dreaming of femShep tracing her fingers along those tattoos and don't let anyone stop you.

Well, there are some characters I don't feel are good s/s fits. Oddly, ot perhaps unsurprisingly, it has very little overlap with characters I have an interest in romancing.

Also if you want to include Jack's lips in the dreaming I say more power to you.

Fair enough... but all I'm saying is that it played a part in my not being able to think about Jack in that way.

Now the only member of the main cast I'm able to think of in those terms is Miranda.

Oh, I didn't know that. Like i said, I'll most likely never play a DA game ever.Merrill looks like a sweet onnocent character? Is she the DA version of Tali?

At least Fenris will eventually hook up with Isabela if Hawke doesn't romance her.

That's hardly a 'romance' though.

Tis why I called it a "hook up" and not a romance. I only brought it up because it shows Fenris is at least having a social life beyond the occassional superficial party member visits.

That's because Merrill doesn't wear a mask. Now when I see Tali I'll think of Merrill's face but w/ more alien features. Yeah.

I fully support Tali slitting her wrists in an attempt to become a blood mage.

Oops, sorry. I've let my past "discussions" with close minded Tali fans coax me into taking another jab at her. Seriously, if she's your thing, more power to you and your personal Shepard.

Now to answer my own curiosity. How do women who play m/m romances see those romances? I know my GF jokes about watching two HAWT guys getting it on, but she's just mocking the "OMG! HAWT lesbians!" male fans. She and her girlfriends seem to intent on creating characters that fulfill all their male LIs' emotional as well as sexual desires with as many options as Bioware will allow.

When talking to my friends about why THEY play lesbian characters, I'd say MOST admit that it's HAWT, but many will immediately add that they think a certain female VA is VASTLY superior to the male VA or that they think certain characters like Liara or Leliana "seem" to be "really" lesbian LIs and they are just choosing the romance that makes the most sense.

Not sure how the whole VA argument is supposed to work in regards to DAO.

Count me as one.

There was a Star Trek comic book I read about twenty years ago that impressed me because they had a Starfleet officer fall in love with an alien that looked like a bipedal mouse and not a painted supermodel. I'm not saying that I want Tali to look "ugly" or completely inhuman, but I would appreciate if Bioware made her look "alien" enough to demonstrate that Shepard can fall for someone who might, by human standards, look "weird."

And I'm sick of reptile and amphibian skin on all the aliens. Maybe some fur this time?

I don't think you truly know the hell that will befall us all if that comes to pass. Or you're just trolling.

I wanna go to the Tali thread and talk about Tali being available to FemShep as an LI as well but there OP states that you can't talk about that stuff in their thread. Why?

They do point those who want to talk about s/s Talimancing here but it is hyprocritical nonetheless if the o/s romance is allowed to be discussed. I suppose it was instituted as a measure to prevent the anti-s/s trolling. It might be worth PMing Collider to see if such a stance is still justified.

As I've seen it explained, o/s Tali is a reality and s/s Tali is a hypothetical, so the OP over there doesn't want the thread to grow dozens of pages overnight with fans arguing over alternative lifestyles.

I couldn't help but laugh at this ... I got the same thing. Posted Image

But then I realized that we all have our own ME world and their Jack is not mine. My Jack is a bi girl even if the option is never open to female Shepard. It wouldn't matter, because my femShep would never cross that line with Jack.

None of my Shepards (male or female) would ever be with Jack because the Jack in my world is not needing a lover but a friend. sex muddies the water and with her you need to keep the water clean. To keep your relationship pure ... It confuses her with my Shepards that they don't make a play on her but it also takes some of the pressure off her.

But that is in my world and is not intended as a force on others.

I know what you mean... my feelings towards her are more maternal than anything else. We know from Kelly that she uses sex as a shield. That being the case, I'd now be extremely uncomfortable with contextualising her in that way.

I do think the character threads would lose nothing from accepting that different people understand and appreciate 'their' characters in different ways.

I should probably bring up the topic with Tali anyway and see what people say...
