If a gay character does hit on Shepard first, I can guarantee it will NOT be any of the previously o/s only LIs. Although the 10,000 complaint threads opened up ten seconds after the game is released would be EPIC.

Give it up Abispa! There will be no Krogan love. And Grunt and Wrex are MEN like you. Are you some kind of freak?

Sorry.

As for the shower scene I am pretty excited. I wonder what kind of swimsuit/underwear my female Shepard will be wearing? My male Shepard will not be able to wait that long and will probably take Kaidan down in the elevator.

The forum QQ would be hilarious.  If the staff had any sense of humor they would make it happen, for the evlulz.

I dunno. Not that I would be against it at all, but this character looks like he is being developed to be the main LI for female players + relatable bromance character who helps new players get acquainted with the ME universe. That last part has been stated specifically.

They presumably want this character to be popular with the majority of players, i.e. straight males. So, while it is regrettable, one of the easiest ways to make sure he is unpopular would be to have a s/s romance as part of his dialogue options.

Maybe there is some way to work around this. I certainly hope so. But anyway, it hardly strikes me as a given.

I sincerely want Tali to openly hit on femShep in ME3. If you got her loyalty in ME2, she should come up to you at some point and be like, "remember what I said about linking suits? well I was kind of trying to say... um... iwanttohavesexwithyou."

And I swear my motivation is no more than 60% comprised of an intense desire to troll the homophobes in her fanbase.

Well, no more than 70%, maybe.

Come on. You know it's b/c your FemShep wants to give Tali some of that Shepard love.

Haha, actually I do have a femShep who I can see being into that. She's a very anti-AI Spacer, so they've got a fair bit in common, at least.

No but seriously, it would be totally in character for her, particularly after ME2 and the LotSB dossier. It would be marginally less volatile for most of the dudebros because she's a chick and lesbians are hawt. It would make me more interested in the romance, because she'd be showing some of the initiative and self-assuredness that I liked in her in ME1 and missed so badly in ME2.

It's harder for me to see one of the guys doing it. They're all so passive with fShep already. Jacob in particular you have to outright sexually harass to get into a relationship with; he's not going to make the first move. Garrus isn't going to come up with xenophilia on his own. If Joker's romancable, he's the guy who doesn't get involved with coworkers on principle.

Kaidan would, maybe. I'd be interested to see that. But none of the dudebros seem particularly attached to him, so the schadenfreude would be less satisfactory. ;)

If her romance wasn't so creepy on principal,  her latex costume would be irresistable if I do say so myself.

I'm thinking this as well. Sure, he might have a side we haven't seen - but the one note Bioware seems to be pushing in all of the media and discussion about him is his badassery. As silly as it sounds, making him a m/m romance option (who can't even be avoided, since he's a new character) would hurt that badassery level for a lot of people. The forum rage would be ridiculous.

People seem to be under the impression that Vega is the only new male character in the entire game. I think this is vastly unlikely. There'll be more.

It would be simply a joke on their part if they made Vega only available for FemShep.

Oh, please. Most of the threads on the forum are complaint threads, even if they don't start out that way. Why would they single this out as something to avoid complaints about? Especially since if they did what you're saying there would just be a bunch of complaint threads about that instead.

I'll bet money that Vega is the only new human male. Bioware seems allergic to them. Maybe Gavorn? Not completely joking. He's canonically into human men.

I'm not sure what you mean, exactly. A sad commentary on the mentality of the playerbase as a whole and/or on the devs' lack of guts? Sure, I would agree. But I wouldn't rule it out by any means.

Both really. If they purpousedly make him only available for FemShep out of fear some 'straight dudebros' may not like bisexual Vega, it would be just ugh...

Well, they would say, "It didn't fit the character." But yeah.

Anyway, we can still hope he will be bi, I was just saying that I wouldn't assume anything where he is concerned. He seems to be the main new NPC, the first squad member you meet, along with the VS. Making him popular is going to be a big concern for the writers. And, given how they've faired in the past with male leads, I could see them being very careful with Vega.

What's to say Vega is an LI in the first place?

There are plenty of Bioware characters who aren't. It's not a given.

Hm, things got a little heated in the Kaidan thread over "personality changes," but I don't really get the assumption (even by pro-Kaidan-for-s/s posters) that Kaidan is definitely interested in women across all Shepards, because my male Shepard talked his ear off and never heard anything about finding women attractive. What does some guy in an alternate universe where Shepard is a blonde with boobs have to do with my Kaidan?

There are certainly many ways they could very badly implement s/s romance for returning characters, but there are also very good ways, and I have some faith in Bioware on this. That said, I wouldn't turn down a new character either.  ;)

It's only a few who have aren't too keen, I certainly don't as it won't affect my game. If it's done well whats the harm? :P

Don't fear our thread or anything!

No. The Talimancers are not going for the whole "alien lesbian interspecies erotica" on this one. It is totally in her character for her to like a male or female Shepard. She's into FemShep as much as she's into ManShep, it's just that w/ FemShep, Tali is afraid of embarrassing herself if she tries to come on to FemShep only to find out that FemShep doesn't swing that way, so Tali ends the conversation that she would link suit environments w/ FemShep if she was another Quarian.

It's harder for me to see one of the guys doing it. They're all so passive with fShep already. Yeah. I didn't think much about the other romances. They were okay.

I wouldn't know anything about that.

I want this so much.  Moreso because I luvs Tali than trolling the o/s Talimancers but I am always up for some trolling.

Because Paragon Shepard totally didn't have to fight a village of brainwashed people attacking her against their will and go without killing any of them.  Samara is a renegade.  She doesn't have the selfish or douchey things they attribute to renegades like punching reporters or accepting kickbacks from drug dealing Voluses (or Volii what are they?) but she is still a renegade through and through.

Because Samara had gas grenades which specifically affected the brainwashed villagers and just decided not to use them? Oh, please...

If she'd had a means of disabling them without killing them she would have used it, the Code would have compelled it. I'm not going to speculate on the circumstances beyond pointing out this would have been a village of enthralled asari and *all* asari are biotics. Renegade Shepard wouldn't have stopped chasing Morinth to take the children somewhere safe either. She is very far from the Shepard model of renegade.
