^not sure about that, but i am wondering, i like the Fem!Shepard/Kelly pairing, even if its not a full romance, just wanted to know who let that lovable redheaded therapist die? i can't, it seems like kicking a puppy when i think about it. and will the "romance" with her will at least get mentioned (it occurs to me that the first question should not be in this thread, but it ties into the second question so...whatever)
Whooops. :innocent:

same goes for the Ashley fans a bit, it wasn't until the new thread that S/S talk was openly welcomed, and some of the fans weren't happy and stopped posting because of it.Youknow wrote...

No. All Tali fans who support her for s/s romance should have the same right to post in her main thread as anyone else. Why is it that it's not a problem at all in Miranda thread and everyone has good time, yet Tali thread is allowed to have special 'rules' to exclude some portion of her fans?
Probably because Tali's fans are less amicable. Not saying it's right, but it does keep a form of order though.

that hurts, my friend. anyways, the second question is more important, so what do you guys think, and if it will get mentioned, you all think that there will be an option to continue the "romance" (feel free to let me know if you saved her or not)

I do remember reading a post somewhere that Kelly's romance would be acknowledged in ME3 if you don't want it to be just a fling. That would make it especially tragic for her Shepard lover if she does indeed turn out to be an assassin.
Hmm, I dunno. A line of two of dialogue about romance is one thing (trivial to do in terms of the budget), but remember that she can be so easily killed if the player does any missions between the kidnapping of the Normandy crew and the Suicide Mission.
A whole elaborate sideplot about her being an assassin seems like a bit of a risky idea - especially when they have pinpoint accurate numbers about how many games she's alive in. Surely Kai Leng would fit the 'evil Cerberus assassin hunting Shepard' role?

Would it differ depending on the character?

Possibly as to the last part, though I did sort of enjoy the DA2 style of them just never actually bringing it up. I suppose some manner of "so... why is this only just coming up now?" comment wouldn't go amiss, but I'd rather they didn't go making a big fuss over it.Abispa wrote...
So, IF IF IF any of the previous LIs become available for s/s romance in ME3, would you prefer that s/he has always been "bi" in the ME universe (Ashley reveals that she and her female friends from college used to fool around)? Or do you want the character to be Shepard-sexual ("I don't care if you are a wo/man, Shepard! I love you!")? Or do you just want the romance to be gender specific and automatically activated (like Merrill or Fenris in DA2)?
Would it differ depending on the character?
Having said that, the idea of Shepard being just so gosh darn wonderful that they cause people to question their sexual orientation in his/her presence does sort of rub me the wrong way.

I think that no matter how it happens, there are some people who will won't be happy with it. If Kaidan, for example, is revealed as Shepard-sexual, some fans will claim that it's disingenuous, but if he reveals that he's been bisexual all along, others will complain about the "retcon."
Personally, I don't really care how it happens, so long as it happens. I'm not even sure what I would prefer in my ideal situation. It would probably be really intimate to find out that Kaidan has always fancied men, because it'll imply that he finally trusts and feels close enough to male Shepard to share that with him. On the other hand, a Garrus-style "I want to try it with you" that leads up to an awkward yet adorable night-before-the-final-battle would be fun, too.
So I guess I don't really have a preference, so long as it's romantic and fulfills two games worth of sexual tension.

IF I have to live with the "expanded" characters, my preference is "always been BI"
Shepard is already too much of a Mary Sue/memetic sex god.
I'd rather they didn't add "its ok, if its with you" to the mix.
Merrill and Fenris have gender specific, automaticaly activated romances? news to me (the only auto romances in the bioware games that I know of are all of ME1 romances and Zevran/Leliana, everything else has to be deliberately activated by a player) not to mention DA2 romances are litteraly copy pasted with very minor edits.

Sexuality should be tightly woven with the character's history and personality. Bioware has completely ignored this aspect so anyone can be anything. That is the problem.

Mass Effect was broken from the start. Patching may leave holes, but I doubt significant ones.Sexuality should be tightly woven with the character's history and personality. Bioware has completely ignored this aspect so anyone can be anything. That is the problem.
Because... they don't in fact care all that much about gender? And Merrill's does have an interesting point where she talks about issues with children to a male Hawke vs. personal admiration with a female Hawke.everything else has to be deliberately activated by a player) not to mention DA2 romances are litteraly copy pasted with very minor edits.

Sexuality should be tightly woven with the character's history and personality. Bioware has completely ignored this aspect so anyone can be anything. That is the problem.
Unlike "real" people, the characters in the game do not have "full" lives, only what the game designers have shown us. Thus Tali loves Shepard in ME2 even though she never revealed she was willing to have sex with humans in ME1. Until Bioware has a character say "I'm straight!" Bioware can reveal something new about a character's sexuality without it being a retcon.

That's weak writing, and weak characterisation.

That means 50% of classic literature is weak writing & characterization since characters reveal new information about themselves all the time and yes, very often the reveal of that information wasn't really initiallly planned by an author. In the end, it doesn't matter how characters get created. If the writing is good regarding s/s romances with old characters in ME3, it will always be good. External & meta motives, factors and the realms of writing/developement process don't matter. The end material and quality of it does.slimgrin wrote...
