I hope we aren't mandated to merge the two discussions, frankly.

It seemed like there was a lot of use of the word (word redacted to avoid trouble) in the "s/s romances will be a disaster" thread.

Maybe he got mixed up and posted in the wrong thread.

Yeah but it doesn't hurt to remind people to play nice.

I wonder why that thread even exists since the OP's issue isn't even directly about s/s.

If it does end up that we have to merge the discussions (which seems at odds with the section of Chris Priestly's own post on the subject that I quoted in the OP) then I urge everyone to remain calm and remain classy, I am very proud of my friends and ponies and how well we've conducted ourselves in this thread. Remember, those that oppose inclusion simply want to kill the conversation, so don't rise to the bait, just report actions that break the site rules to the moderators.

Ah I see, the "word" is being removed by mods.

Just remember to play nice, guys. You do no good by throwing those kind of words around. Don't feed the trolls/flamers and just remain civil.

Why didn't the anti-s/s-romances crowd got a reminder too then?

Also, did the same for the word 'homophobia' and it only first popped up in CP's post.

Anyway, let's just continue the discussion, shall we? I may not agree with the intervention as such, but it's true that maintaining a civil level of discourse is preferable to the rather nasty alternative.

So on that note...I support Maeko Matsuo for f/f fling in ME3!

Because that would probably be asking too much.

Whereas I'm coming at it from the opposite perspective. I don't w ant returning squad members made available because it means effectively writing two romances, and I'm concerned the romances won't be as good as they could be because they have to account for new and continuing romances.

But if they're willing to spend resources to do it right, bring it on.

To what extent would it be different than a het-Shepard who's only romancing, say, Ashley for the first time in ME3?  They're already going to have to write one romance path for those who had the same LI from ME1-ME3, one for ME2-ME3 romances, and a fresh set for new ME3 romances.  I can't see how it would be too different to include s/s options for some if not all of the returning squaddies, since it would have to touch on the whole "Why didn't you say something before?" thing.

I don't know...I usually ignore the anti-s/s-romance crowd. However the fight for the love group has the "users to watch out for" topic and that is a little out of line. Sometimes it is just nice to be reminded to play nice (so that we play nice).

Well, I do too...but I'm afraid she's too much of a fringe character to get the whole "ooh Mr. Darcy" treatment.

I wish it weren't so...

I also don't think the romance content would be that different. After all, even if Shepard didn't romance Ashley or Kaidan in ME1, Shepard still knows them. There's relatively little information in the romance-only dialog in ME1 that is crucial to acknowledge in ME3. Same goes for the ME2 LIs, from what I can tell. Most of the personal sharing of history of the ME2 LIs that takes place within the confines of the romance track doesn't need to necessarily be referenced, and again, those characters already know Shepard on a personal level, if not a romantic one.
