But chasing our tails around is so much fun

My cats do that daily.  They seem to have fun with it.  ^_^

I have eight cats and I've never seen them chase their tails before.

Really? :(

It's the most adorable and hilarious thing ever.

Especially when they finally catch it. XD

Well, originally I had three before my friend dropped off a pregnant female at my house.

To be honest, I hope it's a new character.  I've romanced everyone possible already.  New people work better for me.  Even if an established character that wasn't a LI in either of the two games.

Fairly sure there'll be more than one.

At the very least a new character (based on the tiny bits of info Casey Hudson has told people), maybe more than one, and probably an old one of some sort as well.

Yeah, I was thinking it'd be interesting to have an established character that wasn't an LI in previous games be one for s/s and o/s in ME3.

They've set up Shiala and Giana Parasini as quasi-LIs (only for a male Shepard, I think?) - but because both of those could've died, I don't think they'll get much more than a conversation. It's more likely that they'd pick characters that are guaranteed to be alive in ME3, or new characters, for the romances.

And there's no equivalent established male characters that would work for femShep or m/m for male Shep. At least, none that I can think of...

I suspect that Vega is only one new character.

How about Gillian Grayson?

She's a 15 or 16 years old autistic. An NPC met in in the game, maybe even brought on to the Normandy. But for all her power I couldn't take her into battle as a squadmate where she'd have to be mindful of her teammates as well as herself.

Well given the fact that you could bring a thief, blood thirsty turtle, an unstable mass murdering super biotic and a ruthless mercenary, I don't see why you couldn't bring an autistic in her mid-teens.

The LI implications would be really disturbing. There's no way Bioware would ever do anything like that, for good reason.

Shepard is at least twice her age.

She'd be fifteen at the most at the time of ME3 - twelve in 2183 during Ascension, and ME3 takes place in 2186.

Not to mention that we don't know what she'll do in the novel, or how that'll affect her character going into the game.

She'll probably, even likely, turn up somewhere in the universe if she isn't dead or busy at the end of the novel - but she won't be romancable.

Whoa, I never said anything about making her an LI. Just a squadmate.

Oh, good :P

Yeah, she'd be interesting as a character. Given that she goes after Cerberus in the new novel (apparently), it might be interesting to run into her at some point.

There's always Hendel Mitra as an m/m LI, but he's a tiny character from the novels and depending on what William Dietz does with him in the novel (if he's even acknowledged), he might not even turn up in ME3.

What I meant to say was that considering that Shepard has many different individuals w/ broad and varying backgrounds, why can't Shepard have a teenaged super biotic on his team? Shepard couldn't assemble a more ragtag bunch of misfits than that. It almost sounds like Gillian would replace Jack as the team's resident super biotic. I think it goes w/o saying that she wouldn't and should never be an LI.

Well, the s/s for femShep might give me a reason to actually use the default femShep for ME3.

That's my plan.  I only have one Shep and she's with Liara.  I don't really want to make another Shep now just for the ME3 romances, so I'll use the brand new default FemShep to run through ME3 with...and I'm kind of curious what she'll look like in game.  I did actually do a few DA2 play throughs with the default Lady Hawke before making some of my own.

I think the only two people id have a same sex relationship with would be miranda or liara, maybe jack as well.

But i'm sticking to my femshep and Kaiden.

Gotta love a bit of kaiden ;)

I really do hope Kaidan is available. The hope of romancing him with a dudeShep is the only reason I have a dudeShep or any interest in the Kaidan romance, so that'd be a lot of content wasted for me if not. XD

I have one "real" s/s LI, Liara for my renegade ruthless spacer Shepard. It started out as a lark, but the combo actually works for me as Liara seems to be okay with every mean choice I made save running over pyjacks with my Mako, and she talked me out of killing the Rachni Queen (Tali, that cold heard witch, kept chiming in about fun ways to kill her). She DID tell me to let the Council die, though. Thanks to others in the house that play the game, I don't have to make a million characters myself to check out all the different story-lines.

I'm more than happy with my o/s Ashley romance, though I MAY try the s/s version IF IF IF it is available. I'd give up quickly if there was no difference real difference between the o/s and s/s version however.

Kaidan is my bro, dude! And he'd still be my bro even if he was gay! Unfortunately, if I have to choose between him and Ashley... well... you know...

I'm proud that my bro will be remembered as a hero, dudes.

its pretty much this for me, though my Liaramancer is a colonist/ruthless paragon.  I actualy had maleshep for Liara originaly as well, and gave up on him shrotly after Therum.  if felt pointless becasue the romance was identical and I prefer to play femshep anyways.

this is my very selfish personal reason for disliking gender neutral copy/pasted s/s romances.  no point in playing through the same romance twice to me.  I know there are people who play through their favorite romance multiple times exactly the same way, but.. I just get bored with it.

But it at least allows you to female romance her and someone else to male romance her.

I AM curious how many romanced her as a guy, though. Most posts I read are about female Shepard.

/shrug.  I still romanced other characters as a male.  I ended up romancing Isabela as a male in DA2 as well. after watching some videos and chatting with people, I ended up not doing a single m/m romance.  no point.

my male Liaramancer was the original Shepard for her and would have been the only Shepard, had I not been convinced to try femshep/liara romance.  and its not that I like it better then o/s version.  its more that I liked my femshep more then I liked my maleshep (i was having trouble getting his face right anyways)

I'm not saying that people shoudln't be able to play with a character of their choice.  I'm saying that for me, there needs to be an added insentive of extra/different/exclusive content to try something I wouldn't normaly go for. (like for instance, playing a renegade - you get different conversation options)

copy paste makes it easier to implement but it also makes it pointless to play more then once for me.  and it feels a bit... lazy.  but YMMV.  and hey  - playing something just once, means I have more time for other games.

I like all the squaddies, honestly. Except maybe Grunt (who's mostly just sort of there). I don't adore Kaidan the way I do, say, Ash or Kasumi, but he's an interesting character and I enjoy playing through ME1 with him and talking about his character with other ME fans. His romance doesn't really interest me, at least not as a femShep, but as Abispa says, he's a good bro. And I'm curious to see what they'd do with him in an s/s relationship.

The "cut & paste" "bi" LIs are the best option, but you are right, jeweledleah, that it isn't perfect. In a perfect world I would love that Ashley in a s/s relationship is noticeably different than the o/s one. Maybe she's more playful or serious, lustful or emotional, relaxed or possessive. But these are action RPGs and Bioware would be forced to make a lot of specific LIs that take over the game, or skimp on dialogue, plot, or number of LIs.

The thing I like about the "bi" LIs is that a player can choose a personality that fits his/her hero, and not just the only available "compatible" LI. A gay player can pick from a randy rogue, a heartless ****/bastard, and a decent knight rather than the only option given. Bioware doesn't have to worry about whether the gay character is too gay or not gay enough, the player chooses what s/he likes. And the "straight" gamer loses nothing unless s/he is resents sharing his/her LIs with players of the opposite sex.
