I see Vega fever has assumed direct control of this thread too.

I doubt seriously if Bioware is ever going to have an exclusively gay LI. He'll probably be "bi" or nothing.

I really think they should, it's not like the magical land of Thedas where everyone has "convienient" stamped on their groin. And at a less than 1 to 10 ratio it's even "realistic". Liara already takes her cake and eats it too. Plus it's less work.

I know it would make more sense to do that but the first problem is their telemetry/prediction data.  They erroneously believe that they can get data on all your decisions in the game and they most certainly can't because I never got the ring for getting Mark of the Assassin because it won't update my data.  In other words, if people don't press to upload data to Bioware or they just to get it for whatever reason, they do not really have 100% of the data from the consumers.  They use this data to determine what were popular decisions, etc and what would be a good investment of time.  If you ambushed Casey Hudson at some convention and very politely asked why there was no exclusive gay or lesbian romance he would say that only 2-5% of players would choose that based off of their data so there is really no point to do it even though they have absolutely no way of knowing that seeing is there was no gay/lesbian romance to extrapolate from but there you go.

Secondly, (and less importantly) the fanrage backlash.  Imagine if you will that Kasumi and Zaeed were added to ME2 as exlusive s/s romances to make up for the fact that they were lacking in the vanilla game.  The forums would be filled with homphobic people talking about how they picked the paragon option on Zorya just to kill that [expletive] even if they were playing renegade.  If you thought the response to Anders was bad, just imagine this and this would be even if you had to initate the romance.  They would probably be a minority of fanragers but they would be very vocal.  And of course the second one would be all the guys who like Kasumi and feel entitled to having a romance with her with their malesheps because it is "unfair"...completely ignoring what s/s people have to go through.

Actually, never mind, it's here:

They also refer to Major Alenko. That can't be Kaidan, since Ashley is alive.

Alenko's family were from Canada, perhaps a father? Mother?

It was probably a glitch and Anderson spoke a line for Kaidan. Beta is full of bugs. Doubt it's about Kaidan's father.

Anyway, now that we saw & heard Vega, can we put an official m/m stamp of approval on our sweet muscle boy? <3

We put that stamp on him like...fifty years ago...

He definitely should be exclusively gay, just by his look, he is definitely not into breasts and vaginas, but has the muscle hunk gay thing going. Very few women even like a guy that muscular in my experience.

Women tend to like the same thing gay guys like....we're not that different - lol. /childish

But there's no way he's exclusively gay. Unless they plan on adding another male squaddie !

Maybe some, just my observation, I am no way nearly as big as Vega but some female friends tell me I am too muscular. No idea. I think he should be gay though, he doesn't look like he likes women.

So seeing as you are too muscular for some women must mean you are gay right? As a bunch of women have already confessed to liking Vega's looks in his fan thread, Because that's totally how it works.

Some women like muscles, most don't though. But I would still prefer him to be gay (Vega) and not bi.

I hope so, I am tired of everyone being bi; either straight or gay is much more realistic.

Unless you know all women in the world and asked every single one if they like muscles or not, I don't think it's fair to say that.

I'm sure you're basing this fact on carefully conducted scientific studies on human attraction, right? Based on anecdotal evidence, my experience discussing that with women has been quiet the opposite. Hell, I have yet to talk to a hetero/bi woman offline that doesn't find Joe Manganiello hawt. The guy is a living Adonis.

I don't see anything about Vega that suggests he's gay. No, not even his haircut. You can't tell someone is gay just by looking at them. :pinched: That falls into the trap of stereotyping appearance and behavior.

But many gay men like muscles, the entire bodybuilding industry is based on gay men's tastes.

There's body-building for women - yet you don't see every lesbian wanting muscles. It's simply not even close to true and when it comes down to it based on preference :\\ I live in San Fran. I know the diversity, trust me.

I'm sorry but THAT is the stupidest thing that I've read on these forums in days.  bodybuilding industry has NOTHING to do with homosexuality.

some gay men, just like some straight women, do apreciate muscle and others don't becasue you know - personal tastes vary and all, but body building is a sport, grueling, harsh sport with many rules and regulations and very specific judging system.  those men and women do not do what they do to titilate.

I actually deal with this all the time. My gay guy friends think I look really great and my gal friends think I look way over the top. I keep hearing "You should think about going all the way and actually body building" from one side and "Dear God, lose some weight, you look like a cube with legs!" from the other. Not that personal anecdotes count as any sort of concrete proof of anything, but still.

Gay guy here, just adding my own two cents and saying that I am a fan of men on the muscular side of things and know that it's quite a big thing with many gay men. Wouldn't say most but quite a few.

Vega is looking very nice and has my stamp of approval so far. Cheers!

Alenko yes. But Vega, please no. Nothing agains the character, but I cannot unsee this and this.

Edit: I should add that I don't have anything against muscular, but I find Alenko and Shep to be just right, while Vega is too buff for my liking.

I wonder if there will be 2 m/m options like in DA2.

Hmmm this is a bit confusing:

kotaku.com/5802122/you-wont-knock-boots-with-anyone-new-in-mass-effect-3

and this:

gamedygest.posterous.com/me3-male-same-sex-romances-in-new-love-intere-6

"BioWare has told PC Gamer that there are no new romance options in Mass Effect 3, the emphasis in the final game being on resolving the relationships you made in the first two titles."

But how can you have a m/m relationship if male!Shep never hooked up with a guy before? Odd.

Bodybuilding isn't a sport but that is neither here nor there, rules and regulations? Uhm, you obviously don't know much about professional bbing and G4P is the way many Bodybuilders pay for their expensive drug habits, so it has a lot to do with wealthy gay men who like muscles.

@ Stardusk78 -- I think your "interesting" perspective on what gays do and do not like confirms why the "all bi" option in the best. It is NOT "realistic" but for their entire history when Bioware makes a character a LI they are performing a fan service not trying to mirror reality. They are making a character for players to use to accessorize and personalize their heroes. Instead of making a single gay LI for each gender and two o/s only LIs and worrying whether or not the LI will please their entire allotted demographic Bioware can simply make a nice one, a mean one, a crazy one, a promiscuous one, a religious one, a dumb one, a WTF one and so on and allow the player to simply choose the LI that best personalizes his/her hero.

And nobody here believes that all the ME3 LIs will be "bi." At best only the characters that Shepard can start romances with in ME3 are going to be "bi" and we are not even sure about that. I assume most of the ME2 introduced characters will be allowed to CONTINUE their o/s romances with Shepard but will not be able to start one.

i suppose vega does fill a certain gay niche - he fills a certain straight one too, actually - he just doesn't fit MY gay niche ;P I hope he's not the only s/s option (if indeed he is one at all); Kaidan isnt perfect, but he's a better option than vega by far... so far... ;)
