i suppose vega does fill a certain gay niche - he fills a certain straight one too, actually - he just doesn't fit MY gay niche ;P I hope he's not the only s/s option (if indeed he is one at all); Kaidan isnt perfect, but he's a better option than vega by far... so far... ;)

Why don't you like Vega? He certainly is the most masculine of all the human males so far.

I assume most of the ME2 introduced characters will be allowed to CONTINUE their o/s romances with Shepard but will not be able to start one.

I'm 99.99% sure it won't be possible to start a new (neither o/s nor s/s) romance with any ME2 character that ain't major/permanent/stay-on-Normandy squaddie. But I have a hard time figuring it out how it's gonna go with returning stay-on-Normandy squaddies.

Was it just my eyes or does Vega give Sheploo a wink about not supposed to be saluting him?  ;)

Logic and BioWare patterns would say: Hell Yes. They need at least 1 guaranteed alive female LI. Which is unfortunately why there's a tiny chance they may actually consider Liara one lol

There's body-building for women - yet you don't see every lesbian wanting muscles.

Allo FTL thread, can I be of assistance? I thought I heard someone call me.

(Though a woman as built as Vega would be a little much for me, I admit.)

Y'all know I've always been skeptical of us getting a new female squaddie, at least a "full" squaddie who can be there for the whole game (and no matter what the hype machine tries to imply, I don't believe some if not most squaddies won't be available for every mission if you do things right). I do think they'll count Liara for that much at least, in terms of "here you're guaranteed to have at least one female character available" (and she seems a likely candidate for "new" ME3 LI as well). Despite my reservations about asari, I'd actually be okay with that, so long as some returning humans are available as well; I assume a default no-import game would have said women alive, and if you're importing than obviously you have ME2 and can make that decision yourself.

I think they are going to add a new human female character. Why break the trend now?

As a gay guy -- I don't like too many muscles.

But many gay men like muscles, the entire bodybuilding industry is based on gay men's tastes.

I'm sorry but THAT is the stupidest thing that I've read on these forums in days.  bodybuilding industry has NOTHING to do with homosexuality.

some gay men, just like some straight women, do apreciate muscle and others don't becasue you know - personal tastes vary and all, but body building is a sport, grueling, harsh sport with many rules and regulations and very specific judging system.  those men and women do not do what they do to titilate.

Bodybuilding isn't a sport but that is neither here nor there, rules and regulations? Uhm, you obviously don't know much about professional bbing and G4P is the way many Bodybuilders pay for their expensive drug habits, so it has a lot to do with wealthy gay men who like muscles.

no dear.  YOU don't know much about bodybuilding, especialy so called bodybuilding industry and definitely not about professional bodybuilding.  I cannot decide if you are trolling or just an idiot.

actualy.  I think I HAVE decided. judging by your posting history, you are both.  but just in case, I'm wrong - here, a little overview for you
http://en.wikipedia....i/Bodybuilding.

As for Vega.  one.  he is too small to be a bodybuilder.  he doesn't even look like he's using steroids.  not nearly big enough or proportionate enough, more like a guy who is naturaly larger and refines it by working out and even then, he's edging a little too close to "bar body". and Nothing in his behavior or appearance so far made any indication as to what sexuality he is.  he could be both.  he could be either.  he could  be assexual.

and I personaly find his looks atractive and I'm not the only straight woman who does so, so there goes that preconception.

P.S.  they are adding a new female character.  there was a tweet about it.  whether she will be an LI is unknown yet, but she does exist.

"Character" does not automatically equal "long-term squadmate."

Though I admit I'm not giving up on that queer turian vanguard until launch day forces me to (perhaps Garrus' sister for the extra lulz and awesome?).

oh hell, if that would happen, I'd create a new and special Shepard just for her.

make it happen, bioware?  please?

I'd rather they make Tali bi than to add a new female LI.

I kind of feel bad for Bioware in a sense. Everyone wants their favorite character to be romanceable. I think the "everybody's bi" option is looking easier and easier each day...

I'm not a fan of the 'everyone is bi' thing. Perhaps it could work if some characters were really difficult to romance or something, but everyone falling for shep at the slightest glance just seems silly. Well that's how it felt in da2 to me anyway.

I'm not either, but I'd feel kinda bad if, for example, my manShep got Vega and then the Kaidan fans were screwed out of finally getting their manShep to romance him. The same applies across the board. I know it sounds stupid but I'd feel bad that I get to enjoy my favorite character in the romance side of things and others didn't. :[

You talking about this? I doubt it's about a squadmate. They wouldn't "just invent" a squaddie so late in developement IMO.

*Quietly wonders what the implications of 'action mode' will be on player romances, particularly s/s romances*

*Further wonders what the overlap between 'people who have either complained or will complain about s/s romances' and 'people who are likely to select action mode' is*

*Continues to wonder whether that would serve to stem the inevitable tide of vitriol once ME3 is actually released, and if - to some extent - that motivated it's inclusion in the first place*

Hey how about this weather we're having, huh?

Just because she visibly flirts with a female Shepard doesn't mean she'd be suitable as a bi-sexual romance interest. Don't be absurd.

(I'd prefer that as well, yes. Is she not, then? I'd be equal parts surprised and disappointed if that turned out to be the case.)

I'd take the words "just" with a grain of salt. I'd also find it unlikely they'd invent a new character so late in development. They would probably also say they "just" invented James Vega.

at the time the first game informer ME3 reveal came out - Vega was so conceptual, he was still James Saunders.

so she could be a squadmate.  she could also be a day one DLC, like Sebastian or Zaeed. She could be a small cameo like Shiala or Giana Parasini. we don't know yet what she will be or what capacity she'll have, but at the time she was mentioned, there was still plenty of time to implement her.
her existance has been confirmed and she's someone who might warrant a support thread. and she could also potentialy both balance out Vega and give another sentinel option for those who didn't save Kaidan and/or Miranda. or she might be that secretary girl, who escorts Shepard and Anderson.  its fun to speculate :P

edited - I don't think action mode will have romances enabled.  will take too much time away from fighting.  I have a feeling that action mode will skip as many cuscenes/conversations as its humanly possible, giving players just enough information to understand why they are killign these specific mooks at that specific spot.

I'm pretty sure actionmode will have two varations. Jesusgon and Renedouche. Neither of which will romance anyone.

So there won't be any room for "OMG s/s! "because...shep won't be romancing anyone period and they'll never even see the conversation options suggesting Shep can have a relationship.

The numbers say most people never do a romance, right? Action mode will definitely not have them.

I don't know how much overlap there is between that crowd and the virulently anti-s/s crowd, though. I mean, most of our complaints are from people who really don't want their turian bro to hit on them or their quarian lovebug to be defiled by that icky queer perversion. So they are at least people who care about experiencing the story.

After I saw Vega I say "Only Vega BI"
I don't think that everyone BI is bad  option- fanats was pleased. Who want to romance MHawke Anders do it. Who don't like him- do it with Fenris.
