The other thread in the General forum has been full of the most ridiculously pessimistic speculation, when we don't know a thing.
If I had to guess, I'd say that Action just automates non-essential dialogue in cutscenes. Things like, when Shepard is presented with two options, always pick the paragon one and move on. Or renegade. Whatever.
Surely they'd leave in decisions (& morality) and romances. Surely?
Otherwise why on earth would anybody play Action?

Vega is so big guy.FoxHound109 wrote...
I'll laugh really hard if Vega really IS an S/S option, even more so if he's aggressive about it. It'd be HILARIOUS to watch the already insecure Shepards about having a bigger guy in their team also hit on them. Oh God, I can see the lulz and it's so beautiful...

I know of several people from the top of my head that actualy enjoy the look of ME world and the combat. and that's what they play for. ME2 at least.
don't forget, only small fraction of the players actualy participate in romances or talk to their squadmates.

I'm pretty sure (at least based on the vid I saw of action mode in action) that the wheel never even shows up. It just auto dialogues and you never even see what choice was picked.
As for why someoe would pick it the action mode already says why. It's for people who want to get through the story bits as fast as possible and shoot. Some aren't interested in romances or having conversations with squaddies.

I just hope the "action" players don't get the best ending. It'd be unfair for us "RPG" and even "Story" players to put so much effort into the game and have them get the best ending by just pointing and shooting.
I doubt that they would. I'm thinking that it would be something similar to the ME1 "import" you get if you started playing in ME2. you'll still win, but more people will die, more planets will get destroyed etc.

Well -- then again it's not a competition. You choose to play that mode, so really Action Mode players (as stupid as they are) shouldn't get penalized -- except for the fact that they didn't get to make the choices themselves.

I think romances might not even factor into action mode at all I mean I doubt they'll have action players automatically do the 'NPC rounds' after each mission to see who has new dialogue and then just automatically playthrough it...if they decide to visit the squad memeber I bet even under "Action" style you'd still choose responses or the very least get to indicate whether or not you romance/flirt with someone.

You can swap and change modes and settings at any time.
'Action' sets the difficulty to Normal and Conversation Mode to automatic. Both of those can be changed at any time.
Ditto for RPG players who want to switch on automatic conversations.

I can see doing an Action runthrough just to see what the script picks. I mean, if you set your dude to Paragon, and he makes all Paragon dialog choices - if you did that in ME2 you'd have a really schizophrenic character, hating on Cerberus one minute and kissing TIM's ass the next, vacillating wildly between pro-quarian and pro-Geth... I would think that would stand out even to someone pointedly not paying much attention to the silly talky cutscenes, and it might be quite funny to watch.
@ElitePinecone - that's acutally a very good point. If you start a romance in RPG mode and then turn on Action mode and go talk to your LI, presumably it will still choose conversation options for you. Basically you're still setting parameters for the conversations and the game is having to fire scripts in response to your choices, it's just less micro than normal conversation. That's complex and thorough enough that Story mode doesn't seem at all like the correct alternative; if it's basically RPG mode on Casual, you're still actually having to micro through the combat. It should instead be a mode that does combat for you based on a few player-set parameters, like using the "use tactics for selected character" mod in DA:O.

It's also not very helpful to think of the three modes as distinct. They just set options, options that don't even need to match up with the mode you choose.
So a person selecting Story could immediately bump up the difficulty to Insanity; 'Story' doesn't extend beyond the initial difficulty setting.
It means that Action wouldn't do anything drastic like cut off romances or investigation options, since all Action does is adjust the conversation mode that can be changed back anyway.

Well I do so hope that BioWare keeps catering to that small fraction and stems the tide of mindless shoot-em-alls.
Meanwhlie I must admit to a secret hope of Alenko being a m/m because of his voice.

As a gay guy -- I don't like too many muscles.
But many gay men like muscles, the entire bodybuilding industry is based on gay men's tastes.
I'm sorry but THAT is the stupidest thing that I've read on these forums in days. bodybuilding industry has NOTHING to do with homosexuality.
some gay men, just like some straight women, do apreciate muscle and others don't becasue you know - personal tastes vary and all, but body building is a sport, grueling, harsh sport with many rules and regulations and very specific judging system. those men and women do not do what they do to titilate.
Bodybuilding isn't a sport but that is neither here nor there, rules and regulations? Uhm, you obviously don't know much about professional bbing and G4P is the way many Bodybuilders pay for their expensive drug habits, so it has a lot to do with wealthy gay men who like muscles.
no dear. YOU don't know much about bodybuilding, especialy so called bodybuilding industry and definitely not about professional bodybuilding. I cannot decide if you are trolling or just an idiot.
actualy. I think I HAVE decided. judging by your posting history, you are both. but just in case, I'm wrong - here, a little overview for you
http://en.wikipedia....i/Bodybuilding.
As for Vega. one. he is too small to be a bodybuilder. he doesn't even look like he's using steroids. not nearly big enough or proportionate enough, more like a guy who is naturaly larger and refines it by working out and even then, he's edging a little too close to "bar body". and Nothing in his behavior or appearance so far made any indication as to what sexuality he is. he could be both. he could be either. he could be assexual.
and I personaly find his looks atractive and I'm not the only straight woman who does so, so there goes that preconception.
P.S. they are adding a new female character. there was a tweet about it. whether she will be an LI is unknown yet, but she does exist.
LOL, you post a wikipedia article as if that were the defined truth....there are plenty of guys in real life who look like Vega who are juiced to the gills but then again there are tons of guys who are on the sauce who don't even look like that. You obviously don't know anything about bbing so talking about this further is a waste of time. If Vega were a real life guy there'd be a 90% chance he would on the sauce, not much maybe 500mg testo enanthate per week plus some orals or something else but there you have it.

seriously? wiki had a nice overview, with references, but no matter. every random juicehead=/=bodybuilder. every big guy =/=juicehead. Vega's built is that of an MMA fighter rather then a bodybuilder anyways. but you wouldn't know the difference, would you. all big guys are the same to you.

ElitePinecone, is it true that there are pinecones that are native to Australia? I'm just wondering b/c well, w/ all the koalas, goannas and drop bears that live there, it doesn't seem like they would like or be able to live in pine trees or any other pinecone bearing trees. It's been on my mind for awhile now.
Pinecones are the favourite food of the drop bear.
You really don't want to camp under a pine tree when there's a drop bear up there eating.
