I was actually pretty fine with his whole "let's-blow -up-theChantry" thing; it was the way he incessantly bullied Merrill about blood magic that really started to bother me. Now that was certainly more annoying than him hitting on me was, especially because Hawke never really got a chance to defend her.

That's why I hardly ever had him on my team whenever Merrill was there. I have no problem w/ him blowing up the Chantry, provided that it was deserted, but it wasn't. At least he wouldn't then be a mass murdering terrorist. He would merely be a terrorist responsible for property destruction. It would be nice to see Thedas free of the grips of organized religion.

I have no problem with what Anders did.  If I were in his shoes, I would have gone to Orlais to bomb Val Royeaux and the Divine instead but Kirkwall was all he had (poor mage budgets inhibit traveling).  This is particularly why I have a problem with the word terrorist and our "war on terror".  The Chantry is an oppressive regime systematically stripping mages of their rights, their families, and any normal life they could have had.  Their justification for this is a war their prophet (who was probably a mage, how else would she have heard the Maker) had against a specific group of always chaotic evil mages and she said magic must serve man and not rule over them.  Anders was tired of being enslaved and chased so he fought back starting a war.  Elthina was not an innocent.  She had ample opportunity to say what was being done was wrong and she was quite fine ignoring it and trying to protect the status quo...which was enslaving mages.  She is the equivalent of a southern politician getting killed in in a slave rebellion pre-American Civil war who kept on talking about slavery as a necessary evil and taking no steps to abolish it because he/she actually agreed with it.

 Using terrorist for any violent act we disagree with and calling people terrorist as some special sort of criminal is what gets governments passing laws that the military can detain citizens for no reason other than a suspicion of "anti-patriotic" behavior.

But I am really not seeing any possible way for magewank to be remotely on-topic for the s/s ME thread.

I thought I saw a brief list of the LI's for ME3 a while ago. Can't say I'm happy they're creating new S/S love interests just to quiet the masses. Take Tali for example. They very last talk you have with her in ME2 is basically where she almost admits an attraction to a FemShep. Why couldn't they carry this forward into the third game? I'd assume that both male and female humans are genetically incompatible with Quarians, so it's not like Tali has a thing for manShep cause he can give her a baby.

Doesn't matter I guess, I've still got Liara. What am I going to care about some shoe-horned NPC that I meet in the third game?

This seems a little cynical - the new ones are actually quite well done, from what we can tell from their dialogue. Even if they were created as s/s options in response to a perceived absence of them in the game (and I'll concede that they almost certainly were), the writers did a great job of making them anything but fan-appeasement. 

Plus there'll likely be some old characters available for s/s romances too.

Bioware aren't making *any* ME2 characters available for new romances; Mac Walters already said they backed themselves into a bit of a narrative corner (or threw up story hurdles) by making all the characters from the second game mortal, I'd imagine this would extend to the logistics of romances and LIs as well. If you made Tali a f/f option, people would want Garrus - or Thane, or Jack, or Miranda, or Jacob. 

Or it could just be a design decision. Developers *are* allowed to have them 

I'm looking forward to the s/s content in ME3, and it's worth keeping in mind that Bioware are one of the few developers to put it in with any degree of depth.

I've been out of the loop for a bit here, but I'm pretty...surprised reading this. When was this stated? If anyone has a source on it would be greatly appreciated. If that's the case then my excitement just completely died. 

A script was leaked a few months ago, and while it was nowhere near complete and was jumbled in parts, it was relatively simple to rule out ME2 characters as new LIs. 

The full list of LIs is available elsewhere (and it's quite possible they'll change it, I don't know) but ME2 characters are mentioned only as continuing romances from ME2; there doesn't seem to be any opportunities to start a new romance with them. 

For your second question: the confirmed m/m and f/f exclusive option in ME3 are human, and the ambiguous LIs (as in, we don't know whether or not they're for both genders of Shepard) are also human. 

There could be new characters we don't know about yet, or DLC, but as it is there doesn't seem to be an alien m/m LI.

Well, my one real problem with that conversation is that no matter how I try to handle it, I end up with rivalry points. Whether it makes sense from a story perspective or not, from the gameplay perspective of somebody trying to make friends with Anders, it's pretty annoying.

Still, they've promised they're not going to do anything like that again, so it would appear that they've understood their mistake.

I still never get this. I've heard nothing but complaints, yet I never had to tell Anders that I'm not interested. So I guess the best thing for you to do is not be a super pale with him?

so no romancin miri for femshep in 3 well that sucks if i read some of these post right so none of the me2 characters can be hit on unless its a continueazation of a romance in 2 that really really does suck my femshep wants miri and the other wants ash maybe even tali

Nope, and if I had to guess the only ambiguous Li that will actually be available for s/s is most likely to be Vega since he's universal whereas the VS isn't and will most likely default to Ashley.
It may be so that if Ashley is the default, she might serve as a counterpoint to Vega and be available for s/s as well, where that would leave Kaidan, I have no idea, but it's a possibility that he won't be available for s/s even if Ashley is due to Vega also being avaiable for m/m.
