Not exclusively I think, but definitely bi options. I also don't think vega or kaidan are gay romance options.

They would be 'bi options' if available.

Yeah, it seems like a lot of people believe so... But at the same time there isn't any real indication that they are. Even from what I read, I didn't get that impression. I might go through it again to be more certain.

@Darth: The talking about kids has a good chance of being about adoption. Especially considering she only has a rejection line (in a certain scenario) for a male Shep yet not a female one. And the scarce references to Shep's gender she does have are only female. I.E Shep's line about a smart mouthed comm officer keeping her in check. There is no him counterpart to that.

Could be the dialogue isn't finished but...

Since it seems we're back to replaying our greatest hits, it's about time I renew my demand for some metrosexual Krogan love, dammit.

Yeah, most likely. She never said she's having two kids, but 'the two kids'. Oddly worded, but somewhat clever.

Is it true that a certain new LI actually talks about his/her dead lover/spouse? Please tell me that s/he doesn't compare him/her to Shepard or my crazy sidekick will throw my HDTV out the window.

There's nothing to suggest that they're available for o/s romance in the script. Especially for Samantha, as there's even evidence against it for her.

True. In the beginning it seemed that way, until near the end when she's talking about having kids. Of course she could mean adoption, but it was never mentioned.

Really? I've not read through all her stuff, but when I was browsing through the files I found a set of lines where she turns Shepard down. It sort of implies she was o/s only, though I suppose it wasn't outright stated. Were those contradicted later?

It doesn't seem to be that bad. It's just a "that's what he would've said." line.

But yeah...anymore Carth Syndrome and I will toss a TV out a window.

Yes, but the LI doesn't really compare you to his/her dead spouse.  What's a little skeezy is that said LI's spouse died only a few months before, making Shepard seem like the rebound.

Well, Shepard doesn't remember being dead so for him/her it's only been, I don't know, like two weeks ago that s/he was romancing the ME1 LI before s/he gets some ME2 action.

It seemed like it... But I'm not entirely sure. It's a possibility that she develops romantic feeling for maleshep later, although that idea isn't likely. Haha I don't know, man. I get mixed feeling every time I read it.

Dragon Age has different writers then Mass Effect. And in this genre of gaming, with shooting in space, writers probably feel the need to emphasize more on their masculinity to make them likeable while downplaying any potential "unmasculine" traits. Dragon Age has a different type of fan - it's fantasy with swords and magic - fans of which are probably more open to this freeness of sexuality. Sci-fi fans - not as much.

So even if Vega and/or Kaidan end up being available to the male player, they aren't going to be the pretty, brooding, "Edward-Twilight" type. They are going to be "men". Espcailly since Vega is new, they have to make him work and likeable to the shooter crowd...which we know doesn't paticuliarly care for teh gays.

You're outright stating that the main shooter demographic is homophobic. Careful there. You're only one voice among "sci-fi fans", or the "shooter crowd". I'm another, and I have no problem with "the gays". You don't speak for everyone.

May I also add that "the gays", don't ask for a fang job covered in Max Factor Pancake White. They like men as well. They are men as well.

So in your opinion Fantasy with swords and magic usually placed in medieval type of era (not always) that has noticeable bias towards homosexuality attracts more open and free sexual fans than Sci fi which is set in the future with settings that usually don't give a crap about your preferred sexuality and is more liberal on a whole (again not exactly all of them) attract the shooter type?

Plus shooter fans aren't all idiots. The only reason why they are more pronounced is because there is more people in general who play shooters.

Also do you really think that the Edward Twilight type is good? Now I may not be homosexual but I seriously doubt the large majority of those men prefer Edward Twilight type men. Some of them do but I suspect that many of them would like someone who isn't just some pretty brooding person who doesn't seem to have matured much after nearly a century of life.

Not really relevant but meh.

I was on the escapist forums and stumbled across this thread about some new thing the Japanese are censoring.

Japanese censors said...
In these books there is some violence and cruelty, and most have sexually provocative material.

In particular, many include scenes of women taking the lead ahead of men, and I think they'll promote the prejudiced view that women want this.

And if you keep getting these depictions of women taking the lead, matters soon develop in a homosexual direction and it must become difficult to develop sexually in a normal fashion, mustn't it?

This may not always be the case, but I think for the male consciousness they may end up thinking they cannot take the lead themselves, and so they tend to turn homosexual more often as a result.

I can't help but think it is very dangerous to our young people, should they see this sort of material mixed in amongst normal books.

tl;dr depictions of women taking the lead/wanting sex will turn men gay.

I dunno, I thought it was amusing.

Hey come on they weren't that bad. I mean sure Alistair was rather whiny and Fenris liked brooding and Anders was a bit whiny but they all had their reasons lol.

Actually when I think about Zevran whined the least out of all Dragon Age male love interests.

And frankly considering they don't bother to censor the 90% of schoolgirl rape porn they need to STFU. I love how most of the stuff they're trying to censor are things that have a mostly female market share. :pinched:

That said...what's up with that pic?

Hey, at least they're breaking convention by making it a dead husband this time! :P

Re; Samantha. Based on the leaked script alone I'm certain she's a purely f/f romance option. Unless something has changed in the few months or the script was incomplete, I strongly believe she'll be an exclusively lesbian option. It's harder to say for Steve since his lines aren't *quite* so obvious, but I'm willing to suggest he's also exclusively gay.

Remember that every line is put there for a reason. Samantha's mentioning of EDI's voice, Ken and Gabby's conversation, and her rejection of manShep wouldn't have been done lightly. Bioware can be subtle, but not that subtle. Sometimes things really are all they seem. In the case of S and S, bombarding the player with hints about their sexualities was probably seen as necessary.

Ditto with Steve's romance history, his lines at Afterlife and some of the crew banter. The developers have never made an m/m romance option who is also available for m/f with *this* many lines about only men.

Yup. You're somehow gay despite having and enjoying sex (and intimate relationships) with the opposite sex.

...I don't even know how that logic works.

@Elite: Jaheria already had a dead husband. Not sure how often she compared Bhaalspawn to him though. (and yeah her spouse died pretty recently before the Bhaalspawn started barking up her tree too come to think of it.)

...whoever it is at BW with a fetish for recent widow/ers please at least stop having them compare the PC to said dead spouse. Please! :crying:
