Because there are unattractive straight woman out there.

I can't speak for anyone else, but as I said in my original post, I want a character who is built first to be interesting without being obviously designed for romance (first and foremost for male gamers).

Take Aveline...there are both male and female players who find her attractive, but it's not because her role in DA2 is to be a LOVE INTEREST in big flashing letters.  She's *just* Aveline.  And Varric, who many folks found attractive, is just being his badass self, without being written for the purpose of making ladies (or guys) swoon.

My point was that I have specific tastes, but I don't want to be catered to.  I want choice, so that jlb can get her favored female LI and I can have mine, and we can all be happy video game lesbians.

I feel your pain, I tried to create a handsome Shep, but woe the godawful ME character creation. Crap hair, weird eyes, pasty skin, artificial skin tones, cheekbones you could sharpen a knife on, scary teeth...

I had to stick to default Shep though I don't like him either. Lesser of two evils though. I had hoped ME2 would improve upon ME1 character creation wise, but it was just as bad. Let's hope ME3 learns from DA2 for character generation. *Wails for Hawke*

I love how ME2 give us the option to become scary looking cyborgs and NOBODY notices. It is like being a blood mage in Dragon Age and nobody calls you on it. Strangely things like this do not ruin immersion though.

Ok seriously, what's there to these romances than conversations & cutscenes lol? Something like this CAN be judged based on YT videos, we're not talking gameplay mechanics.

Nah default Shep is too close to bald and I'm not too great on his looks (if only they used the Vanderloo model with nice long hair. Then I'd be all over that. ) . But yeah plz let ME3 CC not suck so hard. Please.

I don't see what all the trouble is with the Default Shepard... he looks pretty badass! Same with Femshep, i actually have her two pics as part of my backround, along with two Normandy Pics, and a Crossover between Wrex and Portal 2... as well as a few Turian pics xD

I've grown to like/accept Sheploo (mostly because the voice sounds weird with any other model now, and the character creator is terrible at making custom ones) but I really like default femShep (the real one, not Bioware's creation who looks about ten years too young). 

But I definitely would've appreciated a better face model tool in ME2, and even if we're getting some minor tweaks I don't think they'll let us customise the default Sheps in ME3.

(I actually preferred DAO's character models to DA2's, I found it really hard to make a Hawke in that engine but had no trouble churning out nice Wardens of either gender)

I hope the ME3 editor allows us to touch up our Shepards so we aren't forced to accept them unchanged or totally redo them like we did in ME2. One thing I did like about DA2 was that I could go to the mirror every chapter and change my character's hair and age his/her features to reflect the passage of time since the developers chose not to reflect it anywhere else.
