KOTOR II: Kreia and Atton

It would be more like Atton & Handmaiden/Visas. Irrelevant anyway. Kreia was 100% rightfully the HBIC of Kotor 2

Handmaiden is avoided by the female Exile and Visas can be avoided until the end if you manage to keep your aignment bar level. Love interest is typical for leading male/female but not required...if you can even call the KOTOR 2 interests "love interests".

Yeah...Kreia is x9000000000 better than Handmaiden. (Not that Discplie is any better -_- ).

Yeah I wouldn't consider them LIs in the least. But if only. Oh Atton. WHY IS IT THE AWESOME GUYS ARE NEVER LIS? WHY?!?

*weeps bitterly over pictures of Canderous, Zu, Varric and Atton*

Well...Atton did originally have a much expanded romance dialog in the end-game:

(he fights Darth Sion and could be defeated)

You're...alive...did I save you yet? Your eyes...that bad huh. Always was ugly. Now the outside matches. Was waiting for this but...not fair. Was supposed to save you...loved you from the moment I first saw you. Thought you were a dream. Meant every word. Tried to play it off as a joke...wasn't funny. I don't want you to see me like this. I don't wanna die in front of you. Can't bear it! You saved me...joke's on me. Hurts when I laught....hurts.

Pretty much memorized every single piece of cut dialog years ago.

Truer words have never been spoken.

*I can't stand Handmaiden*

RE:  Attton

He was one of my fave companions (along with Mira)...I think they had some of the better character development in that game.  I always thought that it sucked that you were stuck with 'Disciple' at end game as a female (he sucked...I couldn't stand him...I don't know who I disliked more..him or Handmaiden).

Steve and Samantha aren't squadmates, though, so they might not get as much attention marketing-wise. I don't remember Kelly getting her own video, for example.

True, that doesn't make it any better, though. If only we could see just how they look...

Who is Steve?

The [apparently gay] shuttle pilot Shepard can develop a close relationship with. He appears to be gay, but may wind up being "bi," unless Bioware "runs out of time" and cuts him altogether.

I'd be pretty disappointed if he ends bisexual anyway even when he had a husband.

So would I, I'm all for choice and the "all bi" or "most bi" thing, as long as it's choice for everyone. But if they're gonna restrict most of the LIs to o/s only, then they should go all the way and restrict s/s as well. Otherwise, I'd feel treated like a second class customer. Kinda like whilst paying ME and ME2. <_<

I have a strong feeling that Steve and Sam were designed from the ground up as s/s characters exclusively, and will stay that way. The dialogue reads as though the writers wanted to make it blindingly obvious that these were *THE TWO S/S CHARACTERS* in big flashing red letters, and so we have Steve talking about his husband very early on, and Sam's line about EDI's voice.

(Someone at Bioware was being imaginative when they called the S/S characters Samantha and Steve.)

There's absolutely no indication that either of them are bisexual in the writing, and every line we have about them indicates exactly the opposite. To make them available  to both genders would mean changing half the planned dialogue about them in the game, since half of Steve's Afterlife lines make no sense if he's bisexual, ditto for the very unsubtle Ken and Gabby conversation.

Put simply: I'm almost certain they'll be exclusively m/m and f/f options. To change that now would seem odd, since everything points to them being designed months ago as *the* s/s characters.

(It does make me less confident of *other* m/m and f/f romances, since we're basically down to the VS, Vega and random Allers-esque Normandy people at this point, and it doesn't look like any of them were designed so obviously as s/s options. That said, I'm happy there are any options in there at all.)

Man, I hated Atton. Liked Carth though. Handmaiden I can take or leave, though she's at least more interesting than the Disciple (even if it's mostly borrowed from her far more interesting mother, but Kreia's got enough interesting to spare so that's ok), and I'd rather her romance than Visas (poor Visas).

I can't quite believe they'd give us only Steve and Samantha. Or rather, I could, but I really don't want to, I've already got too many reasons to feel let down by BioWare and don't want to add any more unless I'm forced to :( Post-leak I suppose I've got to change my bets a bit, but in general I'm still banking on VS, Vega, and Liara for two male, two female squad options and proper trilogy-spanning romance for poor dudeShep.

I'm also pretty happy with having the option whatsoever, whoever it is.

But I do have to say, ME franchaise hasn't been the most gay/bi-friendly one (at least for males), in bioware so far, thus don't wanna get my hopes up yet.  Just in case Steve gets cut ala "s/s Kaidan" in ME (I don't think they're gonna cut Samantha, though).

I don't really  think Vega's gonna be s/s or even LI at all, but a good friend, since Mac Walters, (don't know if I spelled it correctly) from his works, doesn't strike me as a dramatic/romantic writer (let alone m/m romances) , he does, though, as a thiller/action one. But that's just my impression, could be wrong.
I'm not sure the VS anymore. Although, it wouldn't make sense making a new romance  with them just for Sheps who rejected them in ME (because rejection or romance were the only choices), would it?
At least s/s Sheps didn't, thus a new relationship would be more believable and plausible story-wise.

I think, though, it's kinda odd having three s/s options for f!shep including THE option (not so female Liara), and lots of m/f (new and only previously romanced ones) plus flings, while having a sole new m/m one, who's not even a squaddie. There should be at least one more IMO, that or we get some sorta discount. :D

Vega's an LI for female Shepard at the very least.
I'd be disappointed if male Shepard only had Steve, even though his romance is nice.

There's at least 3 F/F romance options in ME3.

Yeah FemShep's pretty set.  While her having Ash would be nice it's by no means anywhere near Dude Shep just having one option.

I didn't read the spoilers so I'm not sure, but only play f!shep as a lesbian, thus m/f Vega doesn't really do to me.

That's my point, don't wanna sound ungrateful, but we had nothing for two games, and still we bought them as their "so very large" straight fanbase (most of them, don't even play romances) and got dissapointed twice (at least in my case).

We should have the same options as f/f players, since same sex relationships either, male or female are still same sex, no matter what straight males think. But since I'm a realistic person, I'd be content with one less.
Having just one, who's not even a squaddie (no matter how well done he is), after the official announcement and all, would be kinda insulting imho.

I prefer Scorchy's Let's Play for the reveal, but I guess moreso on the original Something Awful forums where you could read all the chatter, speculation and voting on plot choices and whether to spare the masters, and all of Scorchy's side-comments and people arguing about HK and going into thoughtful detail on the Echani philosophy, and especially the way everybody flipped the frack out when he posted that "I am Kreia" screencap. It loses a great deal without the community dialog :(

I don't know if I'd call femShep "set" exactly if we just go with what we know will be available now. Liara's weird personality swerves notwithstanding, she and Kelly are built from the same stock character, and don't offer even the variety dudeShep got in ME1 between the starkly different Ash and Liara, much less what het Sheps get between the combo of ME1 and ME2. I'm really hoping Samantha will prove to be quite different.

But yeah, even without Ash(/Miranda/Jack), femShep is certainly doing better than dudeShep sans any proof of Kaidan and Vega, no question of that.

I sometimes miss the bug I ran into with her romance, whereby she trapped me in an infinitely recurring conversation that presumably would've looped indefintely until the end of time had I not alt-f4'd my way out of it.

I suppose it might have had something to do with my screwing around with a save file so I'd get Handmaiden instead of... uh... Jedi-librarian-guy-voiced-by-Greg-Ellis. Sorry buddy. You're just not Grey DeLisle.

This is apparently an unpopular opinion, but I honestly can't say I care whether or not an M/M option is a squad mate. Nor do I care about "trilogy spanning romances."

As long as they put honest effort and quality in the romance (such that the romance isn't an afterthought), I'm content.

My desire for Vega to be an M/M option has less to do with squad mate and more to do with breaking stereotypes. A burly scruffy rugged guy like Vega breaks some of the gay stereotypes, that is to say.

So far as raw numbers, 2 options would be enough for me, I think. It doesn't have to match the amount of options F/F Shepard has, although I'd like them to be equal or more equal in future games.

Yeah set is a bad word. She does have 3 options to dude Shep's known one. And Liara (from ME2 onwards anyway) is pretty different from Kelly. But she's defintely doing better than Dude Shep. At least she can have a LI through all three ME games.

It's interesting that fewer people overall play FemShep and she has more romance options.  Dragon Age was the only game where they were seperated equal for LI options (DA2 has Sebastian).

I like Steve but am pretty apprehensive about romancing him for spoiler-related reasons.

Truthfully? I think that has to do with F/F being more accepted and M/M.

I really, really hope that they'll include Kaidan as well since otherwise it will probably just be Steve for me (Vega's appearance being somewhat of a turn of for me). Besides Kaidan's the only chance we've got at some sort of trilogy spanning romance.

Considering we're the only option that won't have a full trilogy romance, yeah, I think it's fair to say having at least one quasi-trilogy romance is important.
