You can judge it for yourself. Raphael said it was BioWare that told him about it.

Hmm. That is at least somewhat compelling.

If it's true, I can only hope that Kaidan hasn't strayed too far away from his ME1 personality.

What? Why? Because he's (probably) bi now?
You know that ME1 features (unofficial?) mShep s/s romance with Kaidan?
But BioWare removed it when ME1 premiered, but not all lines are remowed...
I personally think that Kaidan will be bi in ME3 as well as Vega + gay Steve :o

I'm glad you guy's are finally doing same sex options, it should have been in ME1 and ME2 but at least better late then never. I made a Male shepard just for any male romance options, I really hope Garrus is an option.

No, I'm not expecting that he's getting a personality change because he's (possibly) bisexual.
But I doubt I'm going to romance Kaidan with my male Shepard if he acts the same way as he did on Horizon.

M/M romance with Kaidan in ME1 was never written.

Doesn't seem like it. It appears that you can't start new romances with ME2 love interests, to begin with.

James: Gracias. Well, I think I better get back to the hangar. Things here are just a little too soft for me.
Shepard: The bed's a lot harder than it looks.
James: Are you flirting with me, Commander? Thanks again, Loco.
Shepard: Anytime.

"Are you flirting with me, Commander?" and "Thanks again, Loco" are two different lines in the files.

So this is deceptive and not a real indication of M/M Vega.

True. One of the writers for Bioware said it, I believe.

So why we have (in ME1) mShep s/s dialog romance text with Kaidan?? Some missing dialogs etc.?

Edit: In console (`) try type (when you play as a girl) type ''setgender 0'', save & load your game (please use default shepard app. also please ENABLE subtitles), then try to romance to Kaidan after Eden Prime & Therum and you will see

There are no dialogue lines for Kaidan.

Meer recorded some of Hale's parts of the script. He even refers to himself as a woman.

Yeah, I hope they keep Steve gay... If they make him bi, I'll be pretty annoyed <_<
And if they remove him entirely.... Well, BioWare's really asking for it then. first Joker...

*snip*

Why would you do that?! That's just mean!! :crying:

Hey, if it were up to me, Joker would be stark raving gay and totally Shepard-sexual. In fact, I'd prefer him being a "bi" option that has always been with guys but allows female Shepard to seduce him (*Nervously* "I've never been with a WOMAN before..."). Afterwards, while she's basking in the afterglow, he thanks her but confesses that he prefers penises and plans to stick with guys from now on.

Friggin' cowards at Bioware let the Fable series beat them to the punch in giving players the option to be a transexual hero. Boo! Hiss! Shun! Shun them!

There was a mod for DA2 I think, which let you change hawke's gender without changing the appereance, So I role played a f!hawke with m!hake's voice, as a transexual one once. It was pretty hilarous, but everyone talked to her as if she was a man:lol:.

Kaidan's gay romance was dropped before they wrote dialogues for it. It was late in development and they decided they didn't have time anymore. Unfortunately

I thought he said the romances, which were writen o/s wouldn't fit an s/s relationship and it was to late to start writing an s/s one. Thus, they dropped the idea.

Both Shepard voice actors recorded both sides of the romance. The
romance dialog was included in the main follower conversation file, and
ultimately, it was considered faster just to have the actor do a take on
every dialog line, regardless of whether it was one that would ever
fire in game, than to spend part of the VO session trying to figure out
whether a given line was on the romance track or not.

Once the lines were recorded, there was a brief high-level discussion
about whether we should make Kaiden and Ashley bisexual, since the lines
were already there. The leads decided not to do it. The lines work on a
technical level, but they didn't do justice to the characters and
sounded very strange sometimes. Beyond that, there were questions about
having to do a different cutscene for different genders.

But to be clear, it was never part of the plan. It was only briefly
considered after the lines were recorded, and it was only recorded
because it was easier and faster than marking some lines as "Hale only
records".

Exactly the quote I thought it was. We've been through that in this thread. Where does it say Ash & Kaidan can't be bisexual? He talks about existing o/s lines working on technical level (firing up, conditionals etc) but not fitting s/s context. Becuase they don't fit when copy+pasted. A topic of hero saving a woman he loves comes up in FemShep romance. That doesn't fit male/male context, obviously. They would have to rewrite/write new dialogues and time issues are not only brought up by Patrick (he talks about having to do also new cutscenes and as we all obviously know, VAs finish recording late in developement) but other BW devs as well..

The point is that S/S romances were never planned. Kaidan never had a gay romance to drop. It never existed.

new cutscenes

I interpreted that as "how do we do a gay male romance scene?" not "do we have enough time to make another cutscene?" There's no outright mention of not having enough time to do gay romances in the Weekes' quote.

It would sound more convincing if only they didn't try to sell similar explanation with ME2, when it was already announced in Prima Guide that there are s/s romances, but then suddenly Bioware went into gay-panic mode with "predefined character" and "there is absolutely nothing lesbian in Liara/femShep relationship.

What did they explain Kelly Chambers as then?  "Oh yeah, Kelly Chamber doesn't exist.  She's a figment of Shepard's imagination."

Apparently censors didn't consider her as anything serious.

There's absolutely no voiced lines from Kaidan or Ashley referring to same sex Shepard in the romance. That goes for the squad mate love interests in ME2, as well. That matches up with what Weekes said.

Damnit, are you sure? It's one line in this script I read it from (granted, I don't have the full thing, just a partial romance-only one I've dug up). Well, if that's so, and having re-read it, I'm starting to think Vega is straight after all.

Unless a lot of the dialogue is missing from the script.
