Damnit, are you sure? It's one line in this script I read it from (granted, I don't have the full thing, just a partial romance-only one I've dug up). Well, if that's so, and having re-read it, I'm starting to think Vega is straight after all.

Unless a lot of the dialogue is missing from the script.

You really need the whole thing (as in the actual leak files)  - there's been a number of people going around combining lines to make things look like something they're not.

There's no doubt that there's plenty of dialog missing from the leak scripts in general, though. So while don't have anything on Vega being M/M yet, we also don't have all of the dialog.

If I were to bet though, Vega's straight.

Hey,
Sorry if this has been asked before but has it been mentioned whether there'll be any explanation for Shephard suddenly being able to be in a s/s relationship? My male Shephard has been pretty sexless right through the first two games - I'm hoping that if I can romance an older character (like Kaidan or Garrus) that they'll maybe talk about why it never happened before rather than just just suddenly be a couple. Any one got any thoughts?

They're seperate lines. But the entire script is jumbled and doesn't make much sense so...who knows where that flirting line is supposed to come in. Be so much easier if they had these lines marked so we can determine which follows which and where and such.

I've argued this several times however that Vega must be s/s if Liara is considered in order to balance the love interests. And on top of that, Kaidan is dead on most male playthroughs so that would only leave Cortez which would be kind of cheap. And then you have the backlash of established characters vs. new characters - here is the perfect oppertunity to fix the mess you decided on in ME1. AND then you have a couple of hints and flirts with Cortez.

There isn't any doubt that Vega will be "predominately" straight since Bioware knows that they have to sell this guy to both new players (aka shooter fans) and old players - who might still be pissed about their favorite not showing up as a squaddie...I'm looking at you Miranda/Mordin/Jack/Legion fans. I still want to see the Vega "date" end in an awkward kiss and love scene. Shepard and Vega both discover things about each other..and themselves after a night of heavy drinking on the Citadel.

There's absolutely no voiced lines from Kaidan or Ashley referring to same sex Shepard in the romance. That goes for the squad mate love interests in ME2, as well. That matches up with what Weekes said.

Considering quality of these recorded lines, it would be cut off on early stage anyway, but that's not the point. The point is, those guys are not reliable source of information.

And about ME2 - sorry, like I said, Prima Guide, which is based on info sent by developers (and is finished some time before release) stated that there are s/s romances. So they were cut off during short time before release.

Kaidan and Garrus have not been confirmed for S/S and it doesn't seem like you can start a new romance with Garrus anyway.

Shepard doesn't seem to give an explanation for being in a gay relationship anywhere. It's not like he needs to.

If Vega is straight, the options are still balanced.  There's Diana Allers for ManShep and Bioware still doesn't consider Liara female (for reasons beyond my comprehension).

Well I think the VS is bi because I saw this dialogue with Ashley

Shepard: This is a nice spot, Ash.

Ashley: Yeah. All the shuttles zipping around reminds me of when my Dad would get ready to ship out. My mom would bundle us all up, buy us ice cream, and cart us out to the shipyard to watch his transport depart. I still have to resist waving every time a big Alliance ship flies by.

Shepard: You should bring Sarah up here.

Ashley: I will. When she's ready. She'll like the quiet. She wasn't the loud tomboy crashing around like I was.

Shepard: Sounds like you were a handfull.

Ashley: Maybe. My dad got me. Shame you never met him. He would have liked you.

Shepard: You think so?
Ashley: I do. He would have liked you.

Shepard: A badass military woman?

Ashley: Definitely. He would have tried to use his Irresistible Williams Charm on you.

Shepard: Career military man?

Ashley: Yeah. He would have invited you over, cooked you something on the grill, and talked your ear off.

Shepard: That sounds great, Ash. But right now, I can't focus on anything but you.

Ashley: Well now. Those big, powerful Citadel arms giving you ideas, Commander?

We had something before... a long time ago. Something important.

You've seen me at my worst. Totally embarrassing.

I've... held a gun on you, Shepard.

Just had to kill the moment, didn't you?

The bolded part shows that femshep can have this conversation and if one VS is bi the other likely is as well.

I agree that it would be kinda cheap, but I can totally see them doing it anyway.
Ah well, we'll know soon enough.

The point is that S/S romances were never planned. Kaidan never had a gay romance to drop. It never existed.

But it was considered and if it wasn't for time issues, it most likely would've been in the game.

Collider wrote...
I interpreted that as "how do we do a gay male romance scene?" not "do we have enough time to make another cutscene?" There's no outright mention of not having enough time to do gay romances in the Weekes' quote.

Why would you interpret it like that? Gay romance scene ain't some rocket science or knowledge from outer space lol, it wouldn't take longer than 5 minutes to anyone to figure it out how to 'pose' them. Now, going back to mo-cap studio and creating new scenes from technical level is another thing. Ohh and another BW dev did say time issues were the main poblem.

...unless Allers becomes an option for both fem/man Shep. And I feel like it still wouldn't be balanced out because she simply isn't a squadmate. I feel as if a squadmate would receive more ample attention then simply an NPC.

As for Bioware recognizing Liara...I don't think we've heard anything on that front from Bioware since before they announced M/M for ME3.

If it was up to me EVERY LI would be "Shepard-sexual," with the RETURNING LIs requiring the player to "activate" their s/s romances so that players can maintain their "straight" head-canons. I don't mind if Ashley and Garrus can switch teams, but I'd be upset if they suddenly started acting like Zevran and Isabela...

...Though, dog dammit, the amount of nerd rage on this forum would be GLORIOUS!

But that ain't going to happen. There is no way, in the game three climax of this series, that the LIs will EVER be "fair," even if the game designers wanted to be. This game has limitations on giving many s/s romance choices that have nothing to do with homophobia, most notably that each of the could-be-dead LIs from ME2 have to each be given at least SOME expensive VA time. Making sure the fans of these characters, even Jacob and Thane, have some closure to their story is a more important commitment for them to keep right now.

Well, outside of giving us a game with lots of explosions and death by gunfire, that is.

I won't be angry if they don't give s/s fans at least four LIs to choose, just disappointed that these limitations on LI options could have been easier fixed if they were options from the beginning. Like sci-fi fans who embraced diversity watched Lt. Uhura get minimal air time on Star Trek in the 60s, we have to hope that limited s/s in ME3 will lead to better things in future Mass Effect and Bioware games.

Or they could just cut Kaidan out again, because of lack of time, budget, disc space or predefined character crap but leave Ashley in, because f/f they think f/f is hawt and might therefore sell a couple more games whilst not sharing the same assumptions about m/m.

No, Allerx doesn't count as a full option - or at least, she didn't when the leak version was made.

Shepard has a chance to tell a few people who her/his LI is, and only Vega, Cortez, Traynor, Liara, Alenko, Williams or the old ME2 LIs are options. Allers doesn't appear.

The new romances with Kaidan and Ashley (which might only be m/f, we aren't sure yet) include lines about how there was always an attraction, etc.

The definitely confirmed s/s option of Steve Cortez asks mShep at one point

"But as far as I know, you've never been involved with anyone."
or "I hear a few ladies have shown interest, but you haven't bitten yet...?"

Depending on relationship status Shepard has a few responses, one of them is:
"I haven't had the right moment with the right man yet."

There's also "Waiting for the right man." but that could be for a femShep without a romance, there are 'waiting for the right man/woman' dialogue options.

So the option for Shepard to explain their lack of romance is there, and there are a few lines for old characters *if* they end up being bisexual.

Agreed, since Li are just more ways of customizing our characters I've never seen any reason to limit them by gender when they aren't limited in any other meaningful way.

The best situation we can hope for at this point would seem to be Cortez, Vega and Alenko all being available with maybe some flirt lines with other NPC thrwon in since that would at least balance it somewhat with the f/f options.

That dialogue looks so much like Sky toggle to me. If not for Kaidan/Vega, it looks like it will be at least a toggle for Cortez' flirt lines with Shep.

I know it'll never happen, but I'd love to at least have an option for Shepard to hit on anyone s/he can talk to, just so long as we get a whole bunch of people, aliens, and/or artificial life forms turning her/him down.

And who doesn't want to hear Meer/Hale voice a lot of Shepard swinger lines?

Pretty sure those are just paraphrases on the dialogue wheel for the actual lines.

"A FEW LADIES!? Dammit, I can't go anywhere without some horny Asari trying to put her hands on me; that Ashley chick has got some serious kung fu grip; there was this Cerberus bimbo who kept sticking out her chest and lifting her butt in the air whenever she talked to me (not to mention she kept running around in combat with high heels); I had a ship's counselor who wasn't interested in finding out what going on in this [pointing at skull] head; and there was this crazy Quarian tech who kept wanting to cover me in her bodily fluids, mostly phlem! And I don't know what gender that Legion is, but I swear it gives me these uncomfortable pauses each time it talks to me! Hell, I installed a secret camera in Jacob's quarters for Kasumi to keep her off of me! Just to be safe!"

If the leak is anything to go buy, it looks like even the earlierst/smallest flirting in ME3 locks out any other romance possibility so yeah, I think it will go the opposite way you want ;P

Bah, and here I was hoping for a chance to make Kaidan a bit jealous first.
So there's no confrontation/ultimatum scenes with multiple Li's like in ME1, DA:O and JE?
