If it had to be an old guy, who isn't a squadmate, couldn't they have gone for Hackett instead.
Just for the sake of equality I'm gonna asume Bioware's made Samantha either smoking hot, drop dead gorgeous or both.

No offense, but seriously: every single post you've made here has been negative and pessimistic. 

1. We don't know by any means that Cortez is the only m/m option. 

2. That's not Cortez next to Shepard/Garrus/Liara. That's *Bailey*. 

3. We don't know that the smudged and tiny character model in the corner of the Vega/Shepard sparring scene is a) Cortez blond.

It's amusing how many people are getting irked by the possibility that their favorite bro in Mass Effect 1 and or Mass Effect 2 might possibly be available for a same-sex romance of sorts in mass Effect 3.

Remember everyone, you never HAVE to accept romance options in the game. Also, keep in mind, Sheperd was the one who initiated all potential romances, not the squad-mates or ship crew (in Kelly's case). The romances will not start nor will the moods move towards romantic unless the PLAYER initiates the conversation options to do so. Also, if you "accidentally" end up hitting on a squad-mate you didn't want to, you can back out of it with a follow up conversation option. (I had to back-track with Miranda on that, and the dialogue option couldn't have been more perfect.) "I'm sorry, that's not what I meant."

So please, stop whining about BioWare extending romance options to be more inclusive and varied. The game doesn't force you to have any romances, and so far, you have been able to back out of all romances so far. (Minus Ashley and Kaidan, but I imagine in ME3 you will be given the option.)

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Unless they decided "screw it" to the original plan of utilizing a smaller squad so that you can develop better and more personal relationships with them, I doubt BioWare plans to have any more than 8 permanent squad-mates. And Since 5 (6?) people are already confirmed, there's not a lot of room left on the roster.
(Also, since you will be doing all sorts of side missions with temporary squad mates, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have a large crew of permanent squad mates to choose from.)

Those 5 being Kaidan/Ashley, Garrus, Tali, Liara, and James. I heard from a friend that Jack was a confirmed permanent squad-mate, but it's probably just a rumor. Though, I'm fairly certain BioWare will have one permanent squad member be Krogan. The question is, will it be one we already know from ME1 or ME2, or will it be someone new? And better yet, if it's male, Mr. Shepard has been craving some Krogan lovin'.

Based on the leaked beta's .tlk dialogue files, we knew the extent of the squad months ago. There is no permanent krogan squadmate, and Jack is a temporary helper if she survived the suicide mission. You're right that Ashley/Kaidan, Garrus + Tali (if alive), Liara and James comprise most of the 'permanent' squad. 

There's also another new squadmate who is a familiar character (but they weren't technically part of the ME/ME2 squad), but it's very spoilerific to reveal the identity. One other squadmate also appears, but its identity is a spoiler also.  

Many other characters have large roles in the story, despite not being selectable for combat. Two or three of them are even romance options, including two of the new m/m and f/f options that we know of.

Also, why would Cortez necessarily be at the door when Shepard is ready to leave the ship? Isn't Cortez piloting most of the time? Cortez is a shuttle pilot, not Normandy pilot (that's Joker). And according to the leak, he's suppoused to be in the hangar with Vega so yeah, it's almost definitely him, regardless if he looks like Bailey or not.

^ You're right, I forgot x_x. If he is a Bailey lookalike though, it'd be surprising since the voice we heard in the demo was really not...fitting for 'Bailey' face (it could have been a temporary voice, but I doubt it). He sounds a lot younger.

mineralica identified the logo. It's C-Sec Academy so that definitely confirms it (even for me xD) that this is Bailey indeed.




Plus, Bailey being wounded on the Citadel fits the leaked script and there indeed wasn't any scene with Cortez being wounded in C-Sec or on the Citadel.
But from the hangar screen and the leaked beta, it still looks like Cortez is gonna be blond
